[🌟] - The speed his body turned full attention towards Wally was unreal. He struggled to not blow up right there and then but managed to hold his tongue long enough for the other to finish, even pausing a moment longer to process things.

“…well I’ll be a yellow nosed Makuhita!”

He came in close, glaring at the other boy before coming to a conclusion, a wide smile on his face. 

“Huh! You don’t seem to be lying, Wally pal. Guess the world really is full of- wait, wait a minute did you battle the champion in your region?”

He asked, genuinely curious. It didn’t dawn on him he did not introduce himself, classic Barry.

He blinks at the speed of the others words, having to take a moment to process everything. He shakes his head, expression stuck somewhere between a smile and a frown.  “ I was beaten on Victory Road. That was enough to know I needed to train more. I uh..did you introduce yourself? “

His own Talonflame squawks in happiness as it leaps off Maxie’s hand to meet Aero. “Haha, my pleasure. I’m glad they’re getting along well.” He pauses and looks at the boy. “Hmm…I haven’t seen you around; are you from around here? I am Maxie, my boy. Pleasure to meet you as well,” he adds, extending his hand. One of those rare moments wherein he could experience what it was like being a regular Trainer talking to another. Or perhaps this was only the beginning…

The name vaguely rings a bell but that’s no surprise. He’s heard tales of so many trainers throughout his adventure that the idea of keeping track of who did what is almost laughable. “ Yeah! I grew up in Petalburg. “ He meets Maxies hand with a shake, grinning. After a year or so of being a pokemon trainer he still can’t help but love finally being able to meet people. “ I’m Wally. “

[🌟] - Stop and smell the roses? More like, Fight and smell the roses. Excited and pumped up, two questionable figures punched the air with much vigor.

“Fritz! Come on you can do it, keep those poison jab a-coming!”

Rumors of some strong Ace trainer perked his interest and in no time, Barry made up a training regimen and was only faithfully following his on-the-spot schedule.

“Poison Jab mo- hey, where are you going?”

He watched, confused as another Roserade seemed to appear out of no where. Both Pokemon greeted each other and Fritz seemed more than happy to ditch training to make a new friend. His stoic Roserade was actually making contact, a smile on his face, and not glaring for once.

"Huh. Well would you look at that.”

“Oh! Oh I’m sorry is this okay?”

“WOA-AH! You came out of nowhere, dude!” He raised his arms in defense and peered at the trainer. “Like a ninja with green hair.”

Usually, Barry would’ve hated stopping training just for a little playtime but seeing such a peaceful expression on Fritz was something rarer than gold. He placed his hands on the back of his head and leaned into a relaxed, casual stance. If his Pokemon was going to make a new friend, it wouldn’t hurt to do so himself.

“Uh..I guess it’s alright?”

“Your Roserade is well raised! Are you a starting trainer or something? From here? You have a slight accent but you never know.”

A blush tints pale skin, shuffling a little. He’d gotten a little overexcited and hadn’t really thought about asking until it was probably too late. “ Sorry I uh..I guess I’m a little quiet. “

He relaxes though at the others answer, smile beginning to form. This was one of the bests parts of his Pokemon adventure, the ability to meet people he was never able to meet as a sickly kid in Petalburg. “ N-not quite. I’m from Hoenn. I got all of the gym badges over there so I thought I’d try over here! I’m W-W-Wally b-by the way. “

His eyes light up at the sight of another Roserade, eyes sliding over the trainer to loosen Rosies pokeball from his belt, letting out the Roserade to go play. He’s always happy to let his Pokemon socialize, knowing that as much as they enjoy his company that they always do prefer another Pokemons company. Only then does it cross his mind that he maybe should’ve asked.

“ Oh! Oh I’m sorry is this okay? “

HER WIDE GRIN NEVER LEFT her face as she greeted the Gallade with a small ‘hi’, where Toro had moved forward - even with a tired expression - and stood right besides May, opposite of Ioro, bowing in as a greeting to the other two in the room. Geeze, it had been a while since she or her Blaziken had met the Blade Pokemon out of battle, so long in fact that May couldn’t even remember the last time she and Wally had met as friends instead of ( friendly ) rivals, along with both of their pokemon.

      「 Ahaha, well, I can say you’re getting pretty close !! I almost lost the           last time we battled. 」

And what a tough fight their last one was. Even if she had won in the end, it was still a close call and if she had made a wrong move, she would have lost - not that May had really minded ever losing to Wally. She was just so proud of the sickly boy growing up to becoming a superb trainer because of the help and support of his pokemon - to the point where one day, she wouldn’t even be surprised if he took on the Champion title.

It’s a bit of a relief to see the Blaziken in a non-battle environment. He’s well aware of just how deadly Toro can be in battle, and he’s sure Gally is just as happy not to fight today. May had been his first friend besides his Ralts and that’s a bond he doubts will break anytime soon.

“ Oh you’re exaggerating. Still, I’m going to t-t-take that Champion title soon.  So! H-how have you been? It’s b-b-b-been ages!”

His shiny Talonflame was treasured equally amongst all his other Pokemon and today was a day he had set aside for bonding with the Fire-type. Smiling, he looked around at his surroundings when he heard a voice ask about his Talonflame. Therein he noticed a young green haired boy (who looked oddly familiar) and the question that the boy posed soon followed after.

“Certainly!” he exclaimed, walking forward with the bird perched on his arm. “This is Ignis.” The Talonflame squawked in happiness and pecked Maxie, which elicited an “Ow!” from him. 

He relaxes immediately at the smile, Aero flapping in happiness. It’s generally rare to meet a trainer who isn’t willing to let their Pokemon socialize so he’s not really sure why he was worried. His smile only grows when Aero flaps over to the other bird, immediately taking a liking to the other bird. “ That’s Aero! It’s been a c-couple months since he’s seen another Talonflame so he’s a l-l-little overexcited. “

Turf War || Brock + Wally

          Brock sized up the Gallade at the kid’s side, impressed by the rare Pokémon. He’d only seen the fighting/psychic-type a few times before, and never faced one in a gym battle. The kid was clearly much more experienced than his usual challengers—probably not from Kanto, then. He was sure he would’ve heard about a trainer like this from his fellow gym leaders.

         He bowed slightly after coming to a stop in front of the kid, smiling a little at his excitement. “Just a hunch,” he answered, “For some reason kids are just always looking to pick a fight with me,” he said in a tone of mock bewilderment.

         "But, I don’t usually see challengers from out of town. How many badges do you have?“ He wanted to make it a fair fight, and depending on the kid’s answer he would choose his team accordingly.

He giggles a little at that, relaxing a little bit more. He’s certainly more confident than he used to be and jokes have a tendency to accelerate that particular process. “ Eight. “ He fumbles a little trying to pull out his badge case, smiling. “ I just got here from Hoenn. “

The spot near the waterfall of Ever Grande city is one of his particular favorites. Sure it gets interrupted sometimes by a trainer heading into Victory Road but other than that it’s one of the quietest spots in the region. Not today however. Today the patch of wildflowers he’s sitting next to seems to be of particular interest to an Espeon, his trainer not far behind. He unconsciously scoots a little closer to his Roserade, always more comfortable when he’s closer to his Pokemon. 

“ F-Fond of flowers huh? “

Turf War || Brock + Wally

          It was a quiet afternoon in the Pewter City Gym: the other trainers were out for the day, so it was just Brock and his Pokémon. 

         Onix was sprawled out across the Gym floor, lazily nudging Graveler back and forth with his tail. The rotund rock-type was curled up in a ball, grinning as Onix rolled it around. Brock wore an amused half smile in response to their antics, shaking his head.

         He and the Pokémon perked up at the sound of the front door swishing open, three heads turning to face it. Brock stood up from his rocky perch to look down the gym at the potential challenger, waving at the green-haired boy that appeared.

         “Hey!” he said, heading down the stairs to stand face-to-face with the kid. “If you’re here for a Gym battle, you’re in the right place!”

He’s still a little bit nervous as he wanders into the Peweter gym. New region’s were always a little difficult and gym battles, while one of his favorite things to do, never stopped being nerve wracking. Still it’s comforting to have his Gallade next to him per usual, and it’s with the strength he gets from his Pokemon that he smiles.

“ Y-y-yep! “ He can practically feel the excitement from his pokemon and it’s rubbing off on him as his smile gets a little less nervous. “ H-how’d you guess? “

He watched as his Pokemon founded another trainer’s Pokemon to play with. His Azumarill playing with another Azumarill. Everest smiled softly and looked around the area to see if he could spot who the Pokemon belonged to.

He noticed a young green-haired boy relaxing near and thought to ask. “Excuse me. Is that your Azumarill? It seems like like my Azumarill and yours are becoming good friends.”

He flinches a little at the sound of a voice, relaxing a little as his Gallade nudged him comfortingly. He really did need to get better at the whole social interaction thing. “ Oh! Y-yes that’s Ariel. She’s a social one for sure. “

His eyes light up just a little at the sight of another Talonflame with another trainer, smile growing. Aero had been getting rather lonely as one of the only Talonflames in Hoenn and if the other trainer was okay with it he’d be very appreciative for a chance to socialize his poor Talonflame. He’s still more than a little bit uncomfortable when it comes to strangers but he’s willing to do  just about anything for the comfort and happiness of his partners.

“ E-e-e-excuse me? I’m sorry I uh..hate to bother but..well I couldn’t help but notice your Talonflame and well...mines..it’s a little lonely and if I could maybe let it hang out with yours just for a little while? “

It’s with a chuckle that he lets Ariel out of her pokeball, watching with a smile as the rabbit pokemon dove into the ocean. He’d made a decision to let his team off of training for the day, instead taking the opportunity to visit the beach at Lilycove. He lets out a happy sigh as he takes a seat, Aero choosing to hang out with him instead of getting his feathers wet. This really was the life.

LAUGHING OFF HIS EMBARRASSMENT, really, there was no need to be embarrassed around her being a klutz and the carefree trainer she was - even if she was pretty serious about her goals. With that, the fluffy Absol nudged her arm, as if telling May ‘it’s rude to laugh’ or something along those lines, and while she did quite down, a few chuckles did leave her mouth before she replied.

      「 Well, I’m glad to see you here, and your Pokemon too, of course !! 」

It was still amazing to see Pokemon out of the region, especially regions she hadn’t traveled too, yet, and his Talonflame was a prime example. Most of her team was from home, if not the nearby regions of Kanto and Johto with a few from Sinnoh filled in for her dad’s Pokedex ( goodness, she’d better complete that someday ) and in fact - it was thanks to Wally that she’d gotten at least one entry from the faraway region of Kalos.  

     「 Ioro’s pretty happy too, and I’m sure the rest of my team are - even if they’re          exhausted. We’ve been out all morning and we’ve just gotten back. 」

The laughter did manage to make him a little more comfortable, finally managing to straighten back up. It was at that moment that his Gallade had finally decided that enough was enough, moving forward as if to say hello to the other trainer. Understandable really. Besides Wally himself May was the only other trainer that had known Gallade for as long as he had. He chuckles a little at her statement, eyes roaming over her exhausted looking team.

“ So have we. Don’t think I forgot about getting tougher than you. “
