To say he’s surprised is an understatement. The Human soldiers rarely so much as looked the way of the Mutant squadron, let alone walked over and spoke to them- and never the higher ranking officers. This man was new though, recently assigned after the last one got his leg blown off.

Idiot should have just let Alex handle the bomb. It was what he was there for.

The last one barked orders and did checks, but didn’t converse. Not like this new one. 

Bowing his head respectfully, Alex nodded. It was more than likely this guy had read his file, but even so it was nice he asked. In the corner of his eye, Alex could see Toad look over in equal surprise. “Yes, sir….”
