I got out of the psych ward a few days ago and feeling a lot. Sobriety is hard. Psychosis is hard. Dissociations are hard. Grateful for my AA community

127 days sober! Feeling really proud of myself right now actually, which is unusual. Grateful for the people that helped me get here.

LOS ANGELES

I drove through miles

looking through

distant horizons

mountains humming

quiet excitement

as I looked down

to the river–

a good resting place–

desert dust flew up in a cloud

Los Angeles

had once more cast its spell

just for a second

making the sun stand still

when you move your hand

if they were not hidden

by a heavy curtain

so far away–

several thousand miles–

straight overhead

pretty little

heavenly bodies

celestial objects

in the sky

paralleling the river

so high that you can’t see

I was amused by the illusion

of something even bigger

too faint and far for

the human eye ever to see
