So, the song itself is about the narrator comparing falling in love to Icarus's plight. How despite the dangers of love and the pain that can come, he'd rather fall than have never loved at all.

Similarly, Bkg's feelings of recognizing his love and accepting it, regardless of how it ends up, is what I wanted to portray. While meant to be abstract, this could be seen as moments Bkg is thinking about where his feelings felt strongest just before his death.
