“I’m really happy that you got your mom back. It seems like things are finally falling into place for you.” Trying to smile, but instead, tears started to finally fall. “Oliver–” Shaking her head as she said he was giving her a gift, even more so when she saw the shoe box. Louboutins like always. “Thank you.” Giving his hand a squeeze when he said goodbye. “I know. I love you okay? Be safe, Ollie. Goodbye.” Waving to him for a moment before she called out again. “That damn snowflake necklace better be in here Norwood or I’ll kill you myself.”

Oliver smiled awkwardly because he knew it seemed like that, like all things were falling into place, like he got what he wanted and therefore he should be happy, he should be better but it didn’t work like that... At least not for him, so he just nodded his head in reply and shrugged vaguely. Oliver smiled in reply, is not that he had stopped loving her out of the blue but saying those words didn’t come as easy as they did and he squirmed a little, this was goodbye at least for a while, they wouldn’t be seeing each other as often anymore, he wasn’t going to spend holidays with her and even if they both agreed to keep in touch and be friends, after recent events he knew Alex wouldn’t just call him to casually chat about her life or when she was sad or in trouble, she hadn’t for a while and neither would he, he had prepared himself before every goodbye to his friends, he had mostly dealt with the pain before going to actually say goodbye to them and it had worked with everyone but seeing Alex cry was a sudden reminder that it was for real it was happening, he took a deep breath to compose himself. “Me too...” That was lame after everything she deserved better than that, always did. “I love you too.” He said and turned, only to stop in his track at her words and leaned down to open one of his bags and pulled out the necklace and handed it to her, he hadn’t really considered giving it to her since she had given it back, he shrugged again and smiled apologetically. “I didn’t think you wanted it.” He said, he wasn’t good at this kind of stuff. “I should get going, I’m going back home for a couple of days before start the training program.... Goodbye Alex.”

Nina smiled at Oliver’s words. “I’m going to miss you too. You sort of were the first person to believe in me, and make me feel like I could be more than one thing. Without you, my life would look a lot different right now.” She gave him a squeeze. She couldn’t believe that she actually felt tears stinging the backs of her eyes. “And I hope you know that it’s okay to live. To enjoy life, because you’ve got so much to give to it. I want you to smile to laugh to not be so broody.” She nodded, releasing him and wiping a stray tear that had betrayed her. “We can do all those things. Besides, I’m going to Mrs. Hale one day, you have to come to the wedding, Oliver. So we’ll definitely see each other again.” She smiled at him. “Go kick some ass and save the magic world,” she encouraged, happy for him and for what his future would hold.

“I’m sure you’d have gotten there on your own, I think you and Isaac are pretty much meant to be so if it wasn’t me, he’d have helped you or that Bryant guy but I think you’d have gotten there on your own eventually, you have a lot more friends than I do Nina, people are drawn to you, you just don’t realize.” He smiled at her. “Thanks Nina. We’ll be in touch... Goodbye.”

“Well… I was hoping you’d take over feeding the strays around this place for me.” He said with a sheepish smile because he had been sort of busy with his mom stuff that he forgot to give her more notice. “And I’ll still be there, it’ll be via phone or email but I’ll be there and if you need me I’ll do my best to come. Just when she mentioned crying Oliver squeezed tighter before gently but firmly pushing her away. “I sort of figured this would go this way so… I prepared a…’I’m graduating so we won’t see each other as often’ gift for you… it was sort of last minute cause the curse was just broken but well…figured you’d like it.” He said pulling out the poorly wrapped present and handing it to her.

“You know I will, but I might cry every time for a while. They’d be trying to console me.” She sniffled even now. She heaved a sigh. “I know that you’ll call and text and email. If you want me to visit you, I’m only a technoportation away.” She perked up then when he said that he’d gotten her a gift. She opened it quickly. A squeal left her. “Oh! Oliver, I love it! Luna’s going to love it too! Thank you. Promise me you’ll take care of yourself? Remember to eat, to smile sometimes, and to let yourself be happy, okay?”

“Well... They have experience cheering people up.” Oliver said with a small smile, he was going to miss them. “The perks is that I’ll be traveling quite a lot as a Theron so I can feed a lot of strays all over the place though it might not be for quite as much time.” He chuckled at Zoey’s reaction to his gift “I promise I’ll try.” He replied with a smile. “Take care Zo.” He said and it sounded way to heavy so he decided to joke a little “... Now that I’m going... you’ll be able to reclaim that part of the library.” He said giving her one last hug, taking a deep breath and picking up his bag.

Nina smiled when she saw Oliver. It was a sad smile but a smile nonetheless. “Wait!” she called out, running towards him, feeling as though she almost missed her goodbye. 

 “You know, I don’t do well with goodbyes, but I’m glad that you’re leaving because you’ve graduated and not because you’re dead. This is a happy friend separation. I can do these,” she said then. This was the start of her realizations that none of this was forever and that all of them would eventually separate.

Oliver smiled at Nina and sighed because he knew this one was going to have to be on him and wrapped his arms around Nina. “I’ll miss you... Nina... In the last year... How many people have told you or tried to convince you that you’re good and deserve good things? I think it’s something to keep in mind... In TK we saw that to get information there’s a window of personality related to knowledge, the one we all see, the one only that person sees, the one only others and the one no one sees but... I think all of us, your friends I mean, can see you’re good... Not a saint or anything but good and you don’t realize which is a shame... I’ll write, text or call if you want and I’m sure we’ll see each other again.”

At that Alex had to admit that wasn’t what she truly believed, but she’d also been guilty of hiding so much from her friends. Shifting on her heels as she tucked her hair behind her ear, she gave a sigh. “I still don’t want to hide things. “ Admitting to him as she adjusted her glasses nervously. “Thank you for at least trying for me.” Wrinkling up her nose before she smiled at him. “Five.” Nodding as her expression fell more serious, she didn’t know what else to really say. “Well thank you for that compliment. As much as I’d love to own it this is all quite complicated, it’s a lot of strings. So hiding it for now is probably the best option I have anymore.” She could only imagine if this got out, it’d attract attention from whatever was in those dreams. “Your mom— she’s here? Like on campus? Oliver—“ Putting her hands over her mouth as she looked at him and gave a soft laugh. “I’m so happy for you. You finally found her Ollie.” Hugging him back tightly as she smiled, she couldn’t have been happier in that moment if she tried to be. “Please tell your dad I said hi and I love him. I know he’s busy with your mom, but wow. This is such great news.”

Oliver nodded his head in understanding. “She was here, she left a couple of days ago when the curse was lifted.” He said with a little smile. “Anyways... listen I bought a bunch of stuff for the people I care about... And I didn’t know what to give you as a goodbye gift anyways. You’ve always been hard to give presents to but whatever.” He crouched down and pulled out the box from his bag. “I figured for old time’s sake.” He shrugged and offered her a little smile as he handed her the shoe box. “Don’t worry they’re not crocs or those toe shoes... Goodbye Alex” He said and leaned down to kiss her forehead before leaning down to pick up his bags again. “You know if you need me I’ll still be there.”

Cristina sighed and shook her head. “But it’s not the same. We can’t just sit in the same room and do nothing anymore. There’s no time anymore. I don’t think we’re going to see each other for longer than incidentally in the future.” Not that she would ever admit it, but she had a lot of unresolved feelings going on here. “Calling is better for me when you’re up for it.”

Oliver sighed deeply but smiled. “That’s true... I mean it’d probably be until the next Holidays where either of us can visit the other but I bought you this... To be fair I didn’t exactly know what to get you... I didn’t have much time but I thought you’d like this and it might help make you feel better or reassured when I can’t be there like before.”

“You can call or text me any time you want. Facetime preferably because I’ll miss your face the most,” she teased, pinching his cheek. “I’ll always have the shirt. Don’t go off finding another wife number one while you’re out there kicking bad guys’ asses okay?”

Oliver chuckled and rolled his eyes playfully. “Pretty sure there can only be one number one wife and it’s you okay? You can get other husbands but they can’t be as tall as me ok?” He joked and opened his backpack. “I didn’t really know what to get you... I didn’t have much time to buy goodbye presents because of the attacks and the curse but I got you this for when times are tough.” He smirked. “This... So you have something to help you think of the future...” Oliver shrugged, he hadn’t talked about what was done to his mom in depth but he could see it in her eyes and he hated to think even half of that was also done on Morgan. “And this for when you need a hug?” He shrugged and ended up chuckling. “I’m trying to make them seem more toughthful than just me going to the store and getting a bunch of Star Wars stuff.”

“That’s a good idea, I would do the same, spend some time with my parents and everything. That’s awesome man, was it always something that you wanted to do? I’m a little torn now, I wanted to be a healer, but now I am thinking about being a police officer, I haven’t decided yet. I know what you mean, when I’m on vacation, I already feel weird”

“Yeah it is, I’ve always wanted to be a Theron... Police officer... as in Commonfolk?”

“No. Who’s going to feed the strays? Who’s going to awkwardly be there to tell me I’m not making the wrong decisions when I’m standing up for myself?” She sighed, but and stepped back. “I’m happy for you, you know. You’re the first one of my friends to actually do grownup things. I promise to write back promptly! Yes! All of it. Text, email, call. I want to know everything about your exciting new life.” Despite herself she was back to hugging him. “I’m really going to miss you, Oliver. I told myself I wasn’t going to cry, but…” Tears still trailed down her cheeks.

“Well... “I’m not apologizing for everything from before, I’m apologizing for everything that’s happened after the break-up. How we did we were still friends, but I still held back so much from you.” Sighing as he said she needed to forgive herself, he probably wasn’t wrong. She still did carry a lot of guilt for many of the decisions she’d made in the past few years. Maybe it was because it felt like she was repeating the same mistake over and over again with no real progress. Hugging him back tightly, she just tried to hold on for as long as possible since she knew this could be the last time she ever saw him. “Can you just lie to me for once Oliver?” Asking with her own sigh as she let go of him slowly, her arms eventually fell to her sides. “Just tell me you’re going to be happy, please?” She was begging him to at least give her more than ‘I’ll be fine.’ which is all she seemed to get anymore. “I’m getting better, it’s a day by day thing. I’ll eventually be happy again, but it’ll take time at least that’s what I’m hoping.” As he mentioned getting an element she swallowed hard and ran her fingers through her hair. “About that…. while fire is my default element because it’s the most uncontrolled I actually have five.” Speaking low as she looked up at him, her blue eyes locked onto his. It’s hard to explain without a four-hour story, but I’m the spirit child. Before you worry about me I have people around me who are just as strong, we all protect each other. It’s all a little messy, but I promise I’ll write you an email explaining it all in length so you have something to read while you’re bored.“ Giving him a reassuring smile as she gave his hand a squeeze. ” Can I have one more hug please?“ Asking as her voice broke, she held out her arms for him once more.

Oliver sighed. “Just because you’re friends with someone doesn’t mean you have to tell them everything, is your life and you’re not under any obligation to tell me anything you don’t want to just because we’re friends.” He shook his head. “I’ve done the same... I did the same.” He added looking down. He couldn’t help the smile that spread over her lips. “I may not talk to my friends about everything but I don’t lie to them either... I’m a really bad liar but I’ll try for you.” He leaned back to look at her and took a deep breath “I’m gonna be happy.” He said not able to hold back the small frown at the word happy, it was a foreign concept to him. He nodded his head at her reply and looked her in the eye and this time with complete sincerity he added “You deserve it.” He raised his eyebrows when she said she had five. “You... have five?” He asked and then just listened to her explanation and while yes he worried there was not much for him to do, not anymore and he did trust Alex so he just nodded his understanding. “I...” He shook his head and smiled with a shrug not really knowing what to say. “You’re amazing Alex, you should own it.” He took a deep breath. “During the third attack... I.... I saw my mom... I brought her back, she was in the healing center all this time... That’s why I wanted to go so bad... As soon as the curse was lifted I told my dad and he came to pick her up... He was pissed at me for not telling him sooner but well... I think he’d have done the same so he’ll get over it...” Oliver smiled and instead of replying just wrapped his arms around her.

“Congratulations, Oliver”  he smiled at the other, he considered him a friend, even though they were not very good, he only wanted good things for him, and hoped that he would have a good life, that he would be able to follow whatever dream he had. “What are your plans next? I’m sure that a lot of people around here will you miss seeing you around”

“Well first I’m gonna spend some time at home and then I’m gonna become a Theron. I’m going to miss a lot of people too and in a way this place too but... Also I’m sort of happy I graduated and I’m leaving. It’ll be weird... not being a student anymore”

Alex walked towards Oliver with a frown as she noticed his bag, she crossed her arms over her chest. “I guess so.” Looking down for a moment, before she looked back up at him. “Listen about everything that’s happened lately— I’m sorry. I should have told you a lot, but like always I held back.” It seemed like that’s what she was best at, well at least when it came to Oliver. “Anyways I won’t make this harder than need be so just tell me that you’re going to be happy being a theron and give me a hug, that’s all you have to do.”

“You know Alex... At one point you’re gonna have to stop apologizing to me and start listening to me when I tell you, you don’t have to apologize for anything, I know you feel guilty but I’m not mad and I don’t blame you for anything, so it might be you who needs to forgive yourself...” He shrugged, the apologies made him a little uncomfortable, he hugged her and sighed deeply at her request because it wasn’t something he could exactly do. “I can’t, I don’t know if I’ll be happy, I’m not a Theron yet but I’ll be fine.” He said as he stepped back and smiled at her. “I honestly hope you are too and that you’re as happy as you can be, I’m glad you got your element, I never thought you needed one but I know how much you wanted it and while fire might not of be your first choice at least you’ll father will ease up now right?” he joked.

It was a wave of emotions since the attack. From being free of the hunters to Marcus being in a coma. But right now, in this moment, she was particularly happy and sad for Oliver. Happy in the sense that he was getting the hell out of here in one piece. But sad that he was moving on and wouldn’t have him around anymore. She wrapped him in a tight hug, not wanting to let go. “You’re going to do amazing out there,” she told him, unable to hold back tears. “I’m sad to see you go but I know it’s going to be for the best. I’m gonna miss you so much Ollie.”

Oliver smiled hugging Morgan back. “Thanks Morgan and come on, I’ll write and text and call if you want and if I want to see you I’ll draw a pentagram and put pizza and skittles and my cellphone and you’ll be summoned.” He joked. “...Or you know... Facetime, I mean you’re still wife number one, you have a shirt that’s as official as it gets.”

“I still can’t believe you’re leaving and I’m not,” Cristina said, not doing a very good job of making this an amicable farewell. It irritated her how much she knew that she was going to miss Oliver, and she did not feel like hiding her frustration. Also she was still in a bit of pain after the hunter attack (and was refusing to take more pain potions than the bare minimum), so that was not terribly positive. “Are you going to make work friends to replace me?”

Oliver smiled amused. “Well... Hopefully I do make friends but they wouldn’t replace you, you’ll still be my friend no matter what Cris and you can text me or email me or call me and I’ll do the same whenever I can.”

Zoey was tired, exhausted even. She had so much going on. So many of her friends were hurt. she was dealing with her actions in the last event and ultimately she just felt mentally exhausted. That wasn’t counting the influx of people that she needed to help in the counseling office. Now she was hit with the reality that one of her friends was leaving. If he thought she wasn’t going to cry, he was wrong. “Do you have to?” She asked, standing on her toes and launching herself at him. She wasn’t going to let go for a while. She was also sure that her grip was also tighter than it probably should have been. “I wish Luna was here to say goodbye. I hate goodbyes.”

Oliver chuckled and hugged Zoey back. “I kinda do.” he replied and then tried to step back from the hug but when Zoey didn’t budge he sighed and smiled as he accepted his fate and hugged Zoey back until she was the one to step back. “I promise I’ll write an email and text whenever I can or call if you want.”

Oliver placed down his bags and smiled it was weird... Knowing he was leaving to never come back... It felt like he had spent a lifetime being a student in this place but he had officially graduated and Theron training would start soon enough, he had promised he’d spent that time at home with his mother and his father. “So I guess this is goodbye.” He said smiling at the person approaching, he hadn’t planned on leaving without saying goodbye to the important people that he cared about not matter how bad and awkward he was at goodbyes and emotions in general.
