i'm still pissed that book molly :

kept on forcing charlie to marry despite not wanting to and even tried to force tonks to marry him. also a reminder that tonks was sad at the time because remus probably just rejected her. she just needed someone to talk to and molly tried to recommend marrying her son instead.

didn't support the twins' dream of opening a joke shop even tho they've already proved how succesful their inventions are. she also 'made fun' of their grades and compared it to ron's.

never gave ron any attention and only appreciated him for when he became prefect. this made ron have very low self esteem.

loved or at least showed more love to harry compared to her own children. ron always felt sad for being under appreciated by his mom and molly caring more about harry just made him felt even worse.

she doesn't treat her children equally, she only shows the most live to bill. ron and the twins are kind of neglected by her. ginny only got a bit more attention from her because she's their only girl, charlie... idk.

thought that fleur only wanted to be with bill because of his looks. i'm now starting to think that molly might only favour bill more because of his looks, oh my- also, the way she was shocked when fleur still wanted to marry bill just annoys me every time. don't forget the way she encouraged ginny and hermione to bully her and call her names.

she gave hermione the cold shoulder when there were RUMOURS of her and harry being in a romatic reltionship. rumours, smth that isn't reliable. she could've asked her in person if she wanted to. what was even her reason for doing that? if they even were in a relationship, it's none of her business. also why was she only scolding hermione and not harry as well?

the way they treated percy. the way they (to be specific, molly) never even gave him a chance for him to explain himself on why he chose the ministry's side. he was never a horrible person in the first place, he was just strict and responsible, something harry thought was bad as well. even the twins love him, percy acted more like a mom compared to molly :"))

the way molly's character was made in the books is very realistic as i know many parents who are like that as well (*cough* even my own mom), but it doesn't mean that she was a good mom okay. i'm not saying that she's completely evil since she took harry in as her own, but she over all wasn't such a good mom.

to fair to Owen I think it’s a great contrast to the planets they live in. Tatooine is barren and unforgiving with people who are either abuser, perpetrators, or victims. I think for Owen knowing Shmi Skywalker’s history and how both she and Anakin were slaves, he probably is upset at how the Jedi failed the brother he never knew well enough... though I’m unsure how much he knows, or if he just wants to blame somebody. This kind of attitude seems to match how Anakin himself seems to react to things. Being filled with resentment and blaming others in order to deal with the pain. Meanwhile, there’s Alderaan, beautiful soothing Alderaan that is as beautiful as Naboo, where people are free and best part of what democracy is supposed to be (supposedly bc idk much about Alderaanian politics or if it was shown in the series) believes in the best in people and in second chances. Not that Bail would give Anakin a second chance, but I think Bail realizes that Anakin was like a son/little brother to Obi-Wan, that Anakin was Obi-Wan’s responsibility and so when Anakin turned, it hurt Obi-Wan a lot. Bail is seeing it from Obi-Wan’s POV, while Owen can’t get past that he lost the one person that mattered so much to his mother. That if Shmi Skywalker lived and knew this, she’d be heartbroken and how the Jedi didn’t even bother to allow Anakin and Shmi to contact each other. I can see it from both sides of views.

I appreciate @captainshadowgirllostfan's take but I think an argument is still being neglected. I mean no disrespect to the OP, but the comparison is ridiculous. What does Bail have to forgive Obi-Wan for on a personal level?? The Jedi have little to do with his affairs and Alderaan is still prosperous. PLUS, Bail got a daughter out of the crisis.

Owen, on the other hand, lost his step-brother. True, he hardly knows him, but Anakin is still family. Anakin, who was Obi-Wan's student. Anakin, who Obi-Wan maimed and left for dead after watching him burn alive. And now Obi-Wan wants to train Luke to be a jedi too after failing Anakin? I think Owen is justified in telling Obi-Wan to take a hike!

Bail is a cool guy and he was a good father, no doubt. But I wish people would stop elevating privileged elites like him and criticizing people like Owen who have it tougher and have been more affected by the situation.

And honestly, from the clips I have seen from the Kenobi series, Owen is the only one of the three men who has not turned out to be massively incompetent at his job.

Bail Organa and his wife already failed at keeping Leia safe and do not even get me started on the whole “adoption” thing. I have opinions about that which I will not go into here. I hate that the Organas are so easily forgiven for their perceived failures and questionable decisions and constantly elevated along with Kenobi into sainthood when Bail at least is just as flawed as anyone else.

And, well we all know that Owen and Beru Lars successfully kept Luke Skywalker safe and off of the Empire’s radar for the first 19 years of his life. That only changed because they came into the possession of R2-D2 without knowing what it was the droid was carrying.

I also trust Disney about as far as I can throw them, so I can see Owen’s streak of keeping Luke safe and protected is about to be disrupted for no real reason other than to allow Woobie-Wan to swoop in and “save the day” because a message from BAIL ORGANA told Reva that there was a child there linked to her enemy so of course she’s gonna come running (even though she SHOULD be dead). 

Everyone is just going to conveniently overlook that Woobie-Wan is actually NOT NEEDED to look after Luke and it is, in fact, his presence that constantly draws attention to him instead.

I hate the subtle Owen Lars vilification here. Its not that Bail "forgives" Obi Wan. He's actually being slightly manipulative here: he wants to persaude Obi Wan to save his daughter, and so he's trying to make Kenobi think its within his ability.

Owen doesn't need Obi Wan, so he doesn't need to pander to him or stroke his ego.
