do you name your hollows? do you have a favourite hollow? if the answer to both those questions is yes whats its name?

Uhm yes some of my hollows have a name I gave them and others stick to name that that wights gave them

He only has the whites of his eyes after turning into that big hollow!

Makes sense to me because hollows after they turn into wights they only have the whites of there eyes

Also a lot of peculiars are scared of Jacob because of this and try to harm him before knowing the story

Skratch is my OC!! His story is written as a tale of the peculiar that warns of not being careful of where and when you use your peculiarity, yet over time the end of his story has been lost and changed countless times, even being entirely re written at one point, yet his story gives subtle directions as to where the original draft has been hidden…yet the draft is so old the end crumpled into dust

Anyway, his story is incredibly important, it’s written by his grieving sister who was 9 when she lost him, he’s honestly the character I’m the most proud of story wise that I’ve ever created

Can a beggar get some HCs for ymeene (the first Ymbryne) and her buddy I think Englebert was his name this fandom needs to give them more love (and give all the tales of the peculiar more love tbh)

Sorry for the delay 😅 I've been working a lot this year-end, and I decided to reread the story to answer this question.

I agree with what you said, we need to value stories more.

Ymeene sometimes forgets human words and makes bird noises.

Emglebert sometimes forgets where he left his own body.

He and Ymeene are friends and confidants, they have an unshakable mutual trust.

Ymeene considers Bert as a brother, her brothers died and didn't accept her well, so he is the closest thing to a brother she has.

Bert had a diary where he narrated all of Ymeene's discoveries, he had no intention of making a file with the powers of an ymbryne, he was just narrating the cool things his step sister could do.

Bert was the one who taught Ymeene how to cook since she liked human food so much.

Even though everyone knew Ymeene's story, Bert was the only one who knew all the details that she kept from the others, so only he knew the tree where she was born.

He is the one who kept her feather that exists to this day.

Bert helped Ymeene learn new words and he taught her to read and write to make it easier to create rules for the loop.

Englebert took care of Ymeene until she died, when he was sick she also took care of him.

Ymeene was immune to the problem of ymbrynes who stay in bird form for too long and are unable to return to being human.

Ymeene was the first leader of the ymbryne council before the council even officially existed. She is practically a queen of the peculiar world.

She is a kind of goddess to the peculiars, she is the bird of all peculiar expressions. The oldest of the peculiar prayers are she and Englebert

Whenever the peculiars say something like "May the birds protect you" the birds in question are Ymeene and the other 4 pioneer ymbrynes.

Another thing I love about this story is the fact that the ymbrynes are called Miss + the name of the bird they transform into, because Ymeene didn't understand the name of the first ymbryne she met.

You know, I think I figured out a good way to describe Jacob’s parents using the Tales of the Peculiar.

Maryann: The Splendid Cannibals

•Very wealthy, vain and prideful. Maryann often boasts about expensive furniture and parades people about to show them. She often expands her house and never uses it (like the fancy kitchen - but she never cooks). They live in a 5 bedroom house that doesn’t really get lived in until Miss Peregrine and the children visit.

Franklin: The Locust (with a twist)

•In the beginning, he is quite harsh to his son and doesn’t really understand him. Nor does he really try to. The father believes his son is too “soft” and tries to make him into a man by pushing away his son’s interests (and his son in general). Once his son runs away to be with “people” (creatures) like him, he realizes he made a mistake and wants nothing more than his son to return to him, for life isn’t the same.

•His son returns one day, and he’s ecstatic. The father finally learned how to appreciate his son, to love him for who he is. He accepts his quirks and strangeness. They’re a happy family again

*This would be a lovely comparison if it actually played out this way between Jacob and Franklin at the beginning of A Map of Days. But in their case, Franklin never learned to love his son once he returned. He still shunned Jacob for choosing the people like him instead of his actual “family.”

SO I FORCED MY MOM TO READ THE ENTIRE SERIES AND WE READ BOTH TRILOGIES AND WERE LIKE HALFWAY THROUGH THE TALES OF THE PECULIAR AND I HAVE A HYPOTHESIS!!

So in the story about the girl who could take nightmares, Lavinia, her peculiarity reminds me of Jacob’s. Mother Dust (through Reynaldo) said that Jacob’s ability to speak with hollows isn’t his inherent peculiarity, just as fire isn’t Emma’s.

Mother Dust told Jacob he’s a “reader of souls”. What part of our life shows us our soul’s inner workings than the strange nonsense our subconscious puts into dreams!

In the TotP, it says that no one could see the nightmare threads until Lavinia pulled them out. Also, as soon as she released them again to go bother that one kid, no one could see them! That reminds me a lot of Jacob and the soul jars!

They’re invisible and intangible to everyone else! He can hold them and the one wight was able to feel the jar while he was holding it but as soon as it left Jacob’s hands, the wight’s hand closed around nothing and the jar shattered.

Also the fact that Lavinia can make herself understood by the nightmare thread ball sounds like Jacob speaking to hollows.

Am I going crazy or does this make sense?

Theory Thursday pt. 2, (featuring Monday afternoon, pretend it's Thursday okay?? Thank you!)

This post is mainly focused on what each child did with the feathers from Miss peregrine when she gave it to them🥺

Emma- Emma put one small tiny fragment of a broken one in a locket, ans one in her box where she keeps she's letters.

Abe- one in his peculiar journal, but also one tucked into the pocket of any outfit he is wearing.

Jacob- stuck it in his pocket, Lowkey doesn't understand how sentimental it is sense he's new to the loop.

Fiona- planted it in a pot with some perennial wildflowers that she knows are miss Peregrine's favorite.

Hugh- put is on his beekeeper hat, taped to the top of the inside.

Enoch- he put one in his favorite Hommcuili, and the other on his nightstand

Millard- He has one sewn onto the cover of his large study journal.

Horace- keeps it under his pillow for sweet dreams, but also has one tucked into the rim of one of his favorite hats.

Bronwyn- has hers in a small locket like Emma, but also has her brothers in her memory box, but often takes them out to have on her nightstand.

Olive- Has her behind the laces in her metal boots.

Claire- hers are sewn into her favorite teddy bear that miss P made her for her very first birthday in the loop.

Bonus:

Miss peregrine- keeps an pied Avocet and a painted bunting feather in her hair, but they are stitched together with her peregrine feather in a hair clip, kind of hidden behind her feather sense peregrine feathers are larger. She keeps all of her sisters feathers in a small antique wood box on her dresser, and she when she misses one of them, she usually pulls out their feathers and pens them a letter with it (if the feather is big enough lol) And of course, she had miss Cuckoo's feather on a necklace.

Miss cuckoo- has miss Peregrine's feather on her nightstand, and one sewn into the pocket of her favorite blazer.

Miss Avocet/Miss Bunting: both have a collection of feathers, at least two form each girl who passed through the academy. They have them in a small velvet lined keepsake box, the same one they give each girl when they graduate to put their own feathers in. The boxes have their bird engraved on them, and inside when they get it is both Miss Avocet and Miss Bunting's feathers to get the collection started, and then throughout graduation day they collect feathers from their sisters. (Think graduation card box style) As for each other, miss Avocet keeps miss Bunting's on a necklace near her heart, and miss Bunting refuses to wear miss Avocet's for fear of loosing it (esspecially after she passed) so she keeps it taped in the very first journal she had for the academy when they started, and one on the inside cover of her Bible.

If I was born in the let's say 1940 and I grew up and was in a loop in 1955 and then I left and entered a loop in 2005 before I aged

Would I still age because it is the future or no

You're going to get old, there's no way this can work.

If you stopped aging in 1955, for example, you can only live in loops from that date backward; you can move to 1940, 1920, but never to 1990 or the 2000s. It would be the same as you going to the present. If you go from your 1955 loop to a 1975 loop, you'll age 20 years at once within the loop, because Ransom canonized that fact.

In Los, Perplexus lived in a loop set in 1500, and then went to Devil's Acre, which is set in 1700 or 1800. In a short time, he began to age rapidly there and only survived because the reboot saved him.

Miss P (and others) would have had friends from peculiar Russia. I'm sure of it. And after the events of 1908, their relationship would have ended on a not-so-good note. Based on your fanfic, someone like Elena would have seen unfamiliar peculiars and written to their friend in Europe to find out what happened. However, you wouldn't receive a clear response, and then an explosion occurred, causing your people to suffer first. Then it becomes clear that all of this happened because of Miss Avocet. You're writing to a friend again, but you either don't get a response or you get an excuse for Miss Avocet's actions.

Yes, that happened. Friendships were broken. And international relations were destroyed.

Miss A's pride would prevent her from apologizing; she doesn't see her own guilt, neither here nor canonically.

When the Russians ask for help and question what happened, the most she can say is that they can't help, that they don't know what happened, and that their hands are tied in this regard. But of course that's not entirely true; she knows she played a part in it, that her inaction led to things reaching this point, but she'll never admit it. And this will cause the Russian Peculiardom to sever ties with the European Peculiardom.

STEP 1: Engineer a metal shell to wrap around the sun, blocking all light. This is more practical than the destruction of the sun because the planets still have something to orbit. You're welcome.

STEP 2: Now, I know what you're all thinking. "But Enoch, what about the second ice age that the earth will be plunged into?" Exactly. That's a good thing. First of all, that will end global warming, you're welcome, but also groups of unemployed people will be employed to periodically remove the ice, thus creating jobs. You're welcome.

STEP 3: The removal of the ice will either entail cutting it into blocks to build igloos that can house the homeless, you're welcome, or melting it. The clean fresh water can then be used to solve the water crisis. You're welcome.

STEP 4: The conditions on earth may prompt the evolution of modern creatures back into their original ice age states, for example elephants will become more similar to woolly mammoths. That's not really important to solving any humanitarian crises, it's just nice that we'll have woolly mammoths again. You're welcome.

EDIT: Olive pointed out to me that we could also use mammoth milk and shaved ice to make large amounts ice cream, thus ending world hunger. You're welcome.

Let's talk about loop logic!

Something that has been discussed a lot were the kid's real age. One book might say this, another book says another thing, and the peculiar calendar says something else!

But what I've seen the most were a. are Hugh and Fiona actually from the 1840s, and b. is Enoch the oldest in the loop?

Potentially, yeah! Hugh and Fiona could be from the 1840s, been in Miss Peregrines loop, and still only be over eighty years old (it never actually says how old they were mentally-). And for logical purposes, I'm going to be using late 1840s, because I CAN make this work.

After Fiona ran away from her village and met Hugh, Miss Peregrine, fresh out the ymbryne academy, could have easily taken them in. The ymbryne academy is canonically looped in 1867. Say Fiona and Hugh were born in 1859, they'd be 17-18 years old, which matches their appearance. Fiona and Hugh could have literally been Miss Peregrine's first kids!

Next is Enoch. He's 118 mentally, but that doesn't guarantee he was born 118 years ago (I mean, this goes for all of the kids). First of all, he was in another loop before this. Who knows how old that loop was? It could have been just before Miss Peregrine's loop, it could be pre-Jesus, we don't know! Second, like earlier, his old ymbryne could have found him in the past, and brought him to the present.

Of course, what I'm saying isn't canon, not at all. It's just a theory. A peculiar theory.

That would work if the problem were age, but it isn't.

In LOS, it's established that if someone is older than a loop, that person ages even while sitting in a loop. Perplexus ages inside Devil's Acre. Logically, Hugh, Enoch, and Fiona were going to die inside the loop. Fugh can't be stuck in a loop 100 years in the future. Otherwise, it would be certain death. Another flaw is the claim that Fugh performed in shows recently; that's also impossible.

This is a grotesque error by the author. A huge plot hole, Ransom first canonized Fugh's age and then invented this story that only affected Perplexus in the books.

SIf these aging rules didn't exist, Hugh and Fiona could even be from 1500 and there wouldn't be any problems, but the dates aren't the problem, the loop itself is wrong.

Theory Thursday-

I like to believe that the ymbrynes love to gift their feathers to people they care about. They give them to Their sisters that they are close with, Thier partners when they start a loop together, Their children, it's a sign of really caring about the person receiving the feather. Usually it's on a necklace, or just the feather by itself, nothing fancy done to it.

older Ymbrynes have boxes of feather from their sisters, alive and passed away as a remembrance. Like for example, miss Bunting has a tiny box of Avocet feathers that stays on her nightstand after she passed.

On a lighter note, it's also common for the ymbrynes in the academy to give one feather each to someone graduating do they can put them in the costume they made for graduation day, as a way to pay respect to the sisters that helped them through the academy. Or to give a feather to the sister you would like to start a loop with.

And of course, Izzy has one of Alma's feathers and wears it on a necklace, and Alma has one of Izzy's on a hair clip with her own feather.

How would you think Riggs would have written Dallas ( Ricky’s brother ) in the story if he made the Final Cut/how would you do it??

I think he'd have a similar personality to Rick, and maybe a bit of a trickster, suspicious, and curious.

He and Rick were a lot of wasted potential. Imagine if Jacob's trips in AMOD were done in Rick's car or Dallas's van? It would have been iconic.

Instead of Alma and the ymbrynes always asking American leaders for favors and borrowing cars to get around America, they could have gone with Dallas. It would have been cool to see the kids traveling back and forth in vans, or in Rick's car. He'd wait for them at the loop entrance and could have exchanged fire with Wights as they escaped.

These Brothers would have been an incredible addition to the story, normal Brothers alongside the peculiar ones. We only saw that with Lily, and she was poorly utilized in the narrative.
