Okay, so I live in the UK, where even the police rarely carry guns. Gun control works here. Gun crime is incredibly rare. There's a lot of knife crime, but you can't have a massacre with a knife, so that's an improvement.

Less gun control means more law abiding citizens carry weapons, because a law abiding citizen will use it TO ABIDE BY THE LAW. Simply put: dude with knife tries to stab people. Concealed carry holder sees him going crazy, shoots him before he can kill any more before the po-po get there. Same with dude going on shooting spree. From these stats we get the following point: A society where an individual has to depend on the government for protection has more casualties than a society where the individual can fight for himself. It is more violent, and more law abiding citizens/victims are killed, injured, raped, or assaulted.

The same way all cops are masters of urban warfare and building clearing, and all have pistol skills that blow anyone else away. This post is completely nonsensical. Perhaps if we were talking Special Forces combat veterans who actually learned modern tactics, equipment and weapons manipulations. But to say every combat veteran automatically knows more about it than every civilian? It doesn’t work like that. In almost every learned skill. People who do it for a Job (Mil, LE) won’t be as good as those who do it because they Love it (Civs, most SF).

I was approved

I have to abide by all state and federal laws to keep carrying the gun over my shoulder

So… beginning this year, Texas is now an open carry state. Thousands of people are rejoicing, and I’m very happy that gun laws in Texas are being eliminated. However… just because you can open carry doesn’t mean you should. If you choose to open carry, your vigilance level should quadruple. Depending on your holster/carry location it can be very easy for someone to disarm you. And it does happen folks.

Does open carry discourage crime? I think it can. Will it discourage ALL crime? No. Could you be singled out as a target if bad guys see you’re open carrying? Sure, in some instances. Carrying a firearm should be viewed as a big responsibility. And open carrying should be viewed as A LOT of EXTRA responsibility.

Conceal-carrying has a number of advantages over open carry. The element of surprise is an amazing advantage, and it would be harder to have that if you’re open-carrying.
