Hello!

I haven’t been active on this app in a few months so I am starting over.

This account will mainly be used to show my WIP’s in multiple fields as well as my thoughts and hyper fixations

If you’re interested to stick around, here is a few details to get to know me:

My name is Silvan, however my middle name is Elliot if that is easier for some. I am an aspiring author, an artist(both drawing and painting) and I enjoy cosplaying and photography.

I will most likely share a lot of my headcanons, ships and au’s. I am in MANY fandoms already and do hyperfixiate on certain ones, the main one tend to be creepypasta

I’m also heavy into classical literature, mythology, horror, fantasy, alternative subculture and different historical times and events.

I am queer(MLM/achillean) and I am a trans guy who use he/him

I am neurodivergent

I am pagan(not going into details)

I am nineteen

And I am from somewhere in Europe, English is not my native language.

Why can’t we just enjoy media anymore?

(Mention of SA, Rape and grooming)

I’ve had this thought for a few months now, and it’s really only gotten more prevalent with recent things I found myself in, as well as the new odyssey movie.

And really, it just boils down to the fact that everyone wants to have the most moral opinion and interests when that’s not what art or media is about.

I recently read a book and hated it, my first reaction was about how I didn’t understand how this was a popular book that everyone seemed to love. I didn’t like the writing, I didn’t like the characters, I didn’t like how the women were portrayed and it had several plot holes. than I reread one of my favorite books and searched it up to try and find a fandom only to find many critiquing it with things that to me made no sense. And I kinda just had the obvious realization of confirmation bias. I can go on about my own criticism of what I love without claiming it to be bad or not worth your time but if I don’t like the media from the start I will just say it’s bad even if I have the exact same things I dislike.

So why would I get so angry at someone else critiquing that book when I had the exact same reaction to one I didn’t like?

That kinda transitions into my thoughts on the odessey movie, I’ve watched multiple of the other movies, I love epic the musical, read several of the books etc. yet I don’t want to watch the new movie because of personal opinions I have, (not saying I won’t ever watch it but I’ll wait) But everyone else seems to have such a black and white opinion on it, either they love it or hate it. Those who don’t like it even trying to find reasons why it’s problematic to enjoy it. Such as how the women aren’t as much in the focus as they should, or the lack of representation for Greek people in a GREEK mythology movie. Honestly, as much as I agree with the criticism, I think people are taking it a little far with saying it’s all terrible. Again, I have not watched it but many seems to still enjoy it for what it is.

A few months back I also watched a few video essays on both Killing stalking as well as the boyfriend’s comic and honestly.. there is nothing wrong with either with full context? Killing stalking was never a romance, it’s a psychological horror that just so happens to have MLM characters. Boyfriends got hate for being cringe

I don’t think you’re a bad person for liking any of those yet the internet acts like you shouldn’t because they don’t like it.. it’s ridiculous and funny if you ask me.

You could also say that about Heartstopper which I personally have enjoyed since it came out. (I could also talk about the internets hatred for queer media, specifically MLM that’s not too sexual or WLW in general. Which influence both boyfriends and Heartstopper to be seen as cringe but makes heated rivalry so popular.. but I don’t think that’s impossible to come across online so I won’t cover it yet)

Then there’s stuff such as booktok which I too have made criticism of in the past, and honestly I still don’t like it. But I do admit that’s because it’s not my type of thing. so much of the hatred is very obviously rooted in misogyny whether I like to admit it or not. I don’t like the romanization of rape, SA or grooming as a victim of the last one myself, but I do also know that a lot of victims seek comfort in those story’s too. (I’m not getting into the Nazi romance thing here, I could make a whole post over how that’s a different conversation)

Do I think you’re a bad person for criticizing media? Absolutely not. In fact I think more people should now that media literacy is pretty much dying.

However I wish more people saw criticism more as just that rather than claiming someone else is immoral for enjoying the media. I also think people should stop being so defensive over their favorite media, admittedly that includes myself too

I also do feel like stating that I wish people were more open to taboo subjects as well, things that’s not perfect or unproblematic. In my opinion that’s a HUGE part of art. If you don’t like but a lot of people do, maybe try to see it from a different perspective or realize it’s not always romantazising but just realism from a terrible world

This also isn’t hate towards anyone, again.. I’ve definitely done this a bunch too but I feel like the negativity is part of why fandom is less fun now. And maybe we should focus equally on the positives of whatever media it’s about considering how much time the author or creator spent on it.

This is long enough, but this also absolutely include the coffin of andy and leyley, I am not a huge fan of it and I haven’t watched a play through since the first chapter, but to my knowledge it’s not romantazising or condoning the actions in it.

To wrap it up, my main thing here is how you should just be able to enjoy what you enjoy whether someone else don’t like it, but also being able to handle that not all media is perfect or meant to be perfect. There is a lot more I could say about but again, it’s long enough.

I’d love to hear other peoples opinions on this, even with other things related to it such as AI in these spaces, the reality affects reality debate or other games, books or movies that’s hated no reason or for something little or if you have an experience of this yourself

Denna: “you mean people who once spent 2 days straight playing the lute? The people who learns a language in a week? The ones who’s spent YEARS focused on learning about a group from children’s storys and songs?”

Kvothe: *about to protest but have no defense* “they aren’t just for kids, the Chandrian exist”

I personally see him having AuDHD (high masking on most days) he just reminds me a lot of myself in several areas both affects. also I love the idea of his older teen self getting a green hair tie Denna has. Then in his 20s having shorter hair

Have some KKC headcanons since I can’t sleep (this is a draft from last night)

- Much like Ben, as Kvothe gets older he also starts burning his eyebrows off

- Wilem is a sciv and due to that I cannot unsee him being a bookworm. Him and Kvothe absolutely read fiction together and talk about it for hours. Wilem in my mind is also the creative out of the 3. I see him liking to paint, sketch and if it’s a thing in this world maybe even photography

- Rike W. Ends up being very close with both bast and Kvothe as he grows up, bast also has a soft spot for him after what he learns towards the end of TNRBD

- Auri really loves astrology (I have yet to read TSRTST so idk if it’s canon)

- Ambrose has some form of daddy issues, maybe not outright abuse but he definitely didn’t get enough attention as a kid. I also see his dad not being too fond of Ambrose’s love for the lyre which he’s rather good at(and that is part of why Kvothe hates the lyre)

- Bast doesn’t really NEED to sleep, so much like what we see in TNOTW he often just sit and watch Kvothe sleep

- Devi comes off like the “man hating lesbian” thing to me, like I don’t see her getting along with a lot of men besides Kvothe

- after the plum incident and Kvothe saying something along the lines of not having parents to help him out financially, sim starts acting more protective towards him. Even occasionally slipping money into Kvothes room or picket for him to find later, especially around tuition

I have no idea how the fandom will react to such a headcanon, but seeing as the kingkiller chronicles hasn’t really shy-ed away from lgbt representation.

Is there any way Bast and Denna is the same person? Bast himself I believe is bisexual and in TNRBD did essentially say trans rights(yes, the cat… shut up)

Idk, i feel like TNOTW doesn’t debunk it, kvothe and bast clearly has some past and we don’t know much of fae lore within this world yet, maybe it was some reborn situation, or he genuinely just is transgender. Could explain why in the end of TNOTW he says “I want my Reshi back.” I also just think they kinda act similar if that makes sense?

Kvothe himself have only really been into Denna and I’ve seen theory’s that he’s actually just a closeted/doesn’t know yet gay dude..

Then theres also how fast Bast was to call her ugly. I know kvothe did say something along the lines of “you didn’t meet” before going “oh” after bast reminded him but that could genuinely just be him forgetting they are the same.

Food for thought I guess and I’m curious what others might think of it

Again, I have no idea if the fandom is too lgbt friendly, especially in today’s world.. but I haven’t seen it float around so
