I watched Ted(2012) and Ted the bear kind of remind me of our beloved Nix( yes the whole point of watching it from the start). I guess it’s because of the brows? Or the way he break apart makes everybody want to hug him?

In my head Nix the teddy bear is ashamed that he actually want to be hugged by Dick like a regular teddy bear and Dick always grabs Nix when it is necessary but never gives him a hug because he respect his bear friend. Awww. Sorry. I am a mess.

Nix the teddy bear might come back.

You know, I sometimes forget that the Nixon family was bicoastal, and I've been thinking lately about Nix convincing Dick to move with him to California rather than New Jersey. Maybe they buy a cute little Victorian house in San Francisco. And start hanging out at the Black Cat Bar. Dick gets some kind of blue-collar job and is bewildered by yet indulgent of all the ~bohemian, Beatnik friends Nix makes. Y/Y?

Y! I love the bicoastal aspect, and I love the AU where they get back to the States after the war and Nix says nah, fuck it, I don’t feel like running a company, California was really much more my speed anyway and Dick’s like shrug emoji, I’ve never been so they totally move out there, maybe spend some time around Santa Barbara because it’s what Lew remembers from his school days, those hills and the long gold stretches of beach, travel up and down the coast and on long meandering drives in the convertible Lew buys first thing. Down to Tijuana where they cross the border, go south and south and sleep on the beach and buy fish from a guy who cooks it in front of them, eat it with their hands so hot and flaky it falls apart, drink nothing but Coca-Cola and beer with lime, even Dick because Lew says you’ll get the shits otherwise. On the beach at night Lew says nobody cares about a thing out here and Dick thinks: he sounds happy. Back up the coast to Los Angeles, they don’t like it overly much even if the flowers smell good; it’s too bright and too loud and Lew drinks too much and the liquor hits harder. Up the highway, Dick half scared Lew will drive them into the Pacific to be eaten by sharks, surfers like painted grains of rice among the breakers, Dick wonders how the heck do you do that and Lew says I’ll teach you.

They sleep in motels in half-forgotten towns, they camp in a burned out hulk left over from the gold rush back up a canyon they drive until the car can’t take the road, stars overhead and owls dark and soundless in the night and Lew says this used to be a whorehouse and Dick laughs. Dick laughs more in California than Lew has ever heard. In San Francisco he sits in cafes and tends bar a little, Lew says for the irony, Dick says for the conversation, and he laughs there too and he sits in cafes and listens to poetry with his chin in his hand and doesn’t laugh at all, and Lew makes friends who come and sit in the living room and talk about poetry and novels and politics and Dick sits on the couch with his chin in his hand and listens and eventually he talks and they listen and Lew feels proud.

They paint the house. They fix the boards on the porch that stick up. Dick says I thought nobody cared about anything out here and Lew says who the hell told you that?

On roe

It is asthetically interesting how roe got a kind of spicky hair style while the most of the main cast got softer, flowing design.

Bastogne was undoubtably amazing ep because it sets a rare spotlight on the medic’s point of view. It makes everything all the more harsher. The way Doc choose to carry on was heartbreaking beautiful!
