I’m so super late with posting these but in honour of today’s Thanksgiving celebrations, I still wanted to share these family moments I got to spend at the pumpkin patch with my loved ones. 🧡🍂 I genuinely can’t put into words how thankful I am for my family, they’re my bastion of calm and the home where my heart is, no matter where in the world we physically are. Looking back, it’s almost beyond me how I spent half a decade on difficult terms with my parents, and chose the wrong people over them. So today, I’m just really thankful Mother Nature gave us, our relationship a second chance and even blessed me with my own little family that’s constantly growing. ✨ If there’s only one more thing I’d personally love to wish for today, it’s for me and Asher to go just as strong in 20 years time as my mum and dad do, they’re my living proof for soulmates to exist. They’ve taught me how to learn from my mistakes and to be as thankful as I am now for the life I have. With that being said, I’d also like to give it a mention how thankful I am for Asher’s parents taking care of the thanksgiving dinner tonight and making sure my little panda growing inside my belly and I get an extra big portion of everything. 🦃✨ Happy Thanksgiving guys! 🧡

15/11 M I D N I G H T W O R K S E S H

Look who just woke up from nappi time 🌸💞✨ When I walked into the room, my little magic was apparently wide awake already, all over her bed doing what I like to call her “little stretchy leg”. 💗 It’s one of those little daily moments, where I have to deny myself a little sigh catching myself finding absolutely everything she does utterly adorable, even though it’s just the simplest move. In moments like this, when I look into her big brown fawn eyes, I often get overwhelmed by the biggest mix of emotions - happiness, sadness, excitement, fear. Kinda all of it together, only caused by this little magical human looking at me. I don’t know if it’s my pregnancy hormones causing all of this, or if it’s because I recognise myself looking in her eyes triggering parts of my mind that have always been there. But I feel so overwhelmed with…I think curiosity is a good word. I’m curious about so many things when I look into Lemmy’s pure little eyes. Sometimes I sit down to have a cuddle with her and then just ask her everything that’s on my mind.

What’s that special bond between you and me? Is it because I’ve wanted you so badly for so long and now you’re finally here? Is it because you remind me of who I was, the good and the bad in me? Or is it simply genuine magic? What will your sibling look like? Will they be like you? Or will they be totally different? Will I have just an as strong bond as we both have with them? Will you love them too? And what do I do if you don’t love your sibling and our bond breaks?

I could lose myself in these thoughts and start to cry so often, but then Lemmy just starts to babble something random nobody really understands yet, or just says “mama” and I’ve found my smile back. She’s truly the greatest gift I’ve ever been blessed with. 💞

Oh honey! I feel so many things right now, you put this love - this BOND to words so gracefully. A child is like a mirror..a portal. They truly take you to a thousand places at once. They are of everything we are but more and it’s such an odd, one in a billion chance that you both exist and are together and yet...here you are. Living it! You are alive, you are growing, learning, finding your way. Sharing that journey with your child, getting to know them as a person..it’s an unlikely gift just like life. I was moved when I read “[...]if you don’t love your sibling and our bond breaks”. What a beautifully heart-wrenching way to put something many mothers have felt guilty for even thinking. 

You are not alone in your fears, Amber. And I truly belive you are great and you can do great things. Best of all, you have your family to do it with you. And all the Enamorado’s  I burn sage every morning for you. In my family we say it cleanses your spirit of self-doubt, which is all I wish for you my dear abejita! You deserve it 🌻

Everything I do…I do for my family. First a car dealership, then a silent partner in a nightclub. Now a partner/investor in an old friend’s studio. Andy has always been a good friend to me and Destiny and I couldn’t watch his business venture fail. All for the kids college tuitions and @kinleyskindalove shopping addiction. Yes, babe….I said it. Its an addiction. I love you.

12/11 M O N D A Y 

“I feel like all I post is home-dwelling photos, hehe. But hey, home is where the butt is and I’d like to keep mine with me. How’s life been since last week? I want deets, did your kid's tooth fall out? Did someone have their first kiss? Ask about santa? How’s family life and everything inbetween? x 

Now on thursday I have my first art exhibit since August and I’m extatic! Granted I’ve been sleeping a maximum of four hours per night the last two months, but it’s worth it, I swear. My art is my life, even more so because my family is part of my art. Two pieces I’ve painted together with the kids and my little brother, one of them when we were still in Lima. And one of them is a painting of my mother, but as she looked through my childhood eyes. The way I remember her - warm and full of life. 

I’ve been painting since I was a kid. My father bought me a canvas and some paint for my thirteenth birthday and I was lost in it. It was always Paloma, the little bee lost in her own world. I painted anything I dreamt or saw and everything that made me feel. So, that’s what I still do today, except I get paid for it now. Which is you know...stake sauce 🤭 (Get the reference? - I like you). I’ll be posting photos of my studio on tuesday, I’ll let you have a peak at how I work and what I do. What art it is I do 🌄 What do guys do for a living?

Today Alba went to a friend’s house after school for dinner (I was so relieved when she called me to ask, you’re always worried how your kids will be treated in school.. What category others will try to put them in). When she’s home we will be calling the girls dad over facetime. But, more on him in another post because I’m still in a good mood. Let’s not spoil it, hihi.”

My dear @onemamathreecubs, stop it! 😭 you’re one gorgeous, humble, kind and lovely soul of a mummy! 🙏🏼🖤 I truly love following your journey so much, and your little angels are a pure joy to watch doing their daily magic! ✨👩‍❤️‍👩

You truly speak my heart out with what you said about heritage and making your children hold on to traditions and their family’s past. My family and I have lived in America for quite a few years now, but we - luckily - never lost our (for my part) beloved Britsh accent, and always hold on to our traditions still. With Asher being Irish on his fathers side, and Namibian on his mothers, there’s so many more cultural influences running through my children’s blood as well. Even if Lemmy is still little yet, both Asher and I always try our best to make her cherish her roots. Ashers mum for example, she always speaks Afrikaans with her, and Ashers dad never says no to reading Irish storybooks to her. I’m honestly so happy to watch her explore her family roots with her tiny little eyes, her babbling already as if she never did anything else. 👶✨

But please! Don’t remind me of daycare just yet! 😩🤧 Asher and I are still discussing when it’s the perfect time to take Lemmy there. I for my part, I’m not ready yet to let go of my all day babbling magic and being able to witness every single moment of her adventures. Let’s talk again though when her little sibling is born, I’ll probably tell you something else then. 😅

Ay Amberita!!! You are so sweet, I feel so totally smacked in the face with love right now. That's what I've been feeling for months and months reading your blog, seeing Lemmy grow up. Seeing you and Asher become a family. It's a highlight of a mama's life. And girl ARE YOU SERIOUS! I can't believe you, you are like a gorgeous book. The more I read the more intrigued I am! I had no idea you were English, where from? 😱 Does Asher have an accent? Namibian and Irish, what a fantastic mixture of wonderful people. And ah...the joy of grandmothers, they keep the traditions alive - sometimes at a small price, hehe. Jokes aside, that pride you all feel for where you come from could change the fate of any child. To be around such acceptance and love is what builds a happy person. Lemmy's gonna rock the world I too have a very thick accent, Spanish. As does Alba because she lived her first eight years in Lima, Fernanda has some accent but Zoë has none. Mateo talks with an accent but doesn't like speaking Spanish...teenagers! ('Teo is my little brother, we both grew up in Colombia). I would love for my kids to experience your traditions one day, and share ours with you guys. GIRRRL welcome back then...😉 but I'll be there with you.

Following your journey feels like reading my new favourite book! 💞 you’re a true warrior to me, a hero and i have just so much admiration for how you manage to handle your life and responsibilities all alone as a single mother, and still finding time alone with each of your children. However I must admit, that reading what you wrote also left me thinking and dealing with my own biggest worries again. Ashers always working a lot, so I’m mostly home alone during the day with Lemmy, dedicating all of my day/love/attention to her. So I do worry a lot how things will be for us when there’s another baby, how our bond will change eventually. I know I’ve spoiled Lemmy a lot, thinking of her having to “share” her mummy with a newborn soon honestly gives me a little bit of anxiety. I just hope I’ll be able to handle both my children as amazing as you do with yours, and don’t make any of them left out. 🖤

Amberita, you'll do so good ❤️ I know it, I can feel it! You have such an indigo aura, you are feeling and caring and intuitive. And open! I'm so thankful to have someone like you to talk to ✨ I'll send you some links to some books that helped me through that anxiety when I was having both Ferni and Zoë. It's such a huge change and I found reading about it helped ease my mind. You're not doing anything strange, simply growing your family. Whatever road that's ahead will be leading you to that point where it'll feel like the most obvious thing in the world to have to little bees 🐝 and you always have me to vent to, can't wait until I can spoil you with cheap wine and shower you in some Colombian mama love and tell you what a good job you're doing! You're not alone..it's hard over here too, you are STRONG. I'm so humbled to share this journey with you.

I can definitely relate to the feeling of not having enough time! I only have three kids (for now, hoping that we can add another baby to the mix soon 🤞) but it’s difficult enough! Ours are thirteen, three and one, so unfortunately, our oldest have started taking on a lot of responsibility for her siblings. That’s not how I imagined things would be, but of course I’m grateful. I feel like she could use some one on one time with her mama… I just need to find the time.

Oh mama! I'm so excited for you guys to bring another lil' abejita into the world. I'll be looking out for the announcement 🎶 I find it so precious when the older kids start taking their big bigger sibling "job" seriously, they suddenly become this sentient little being...thinking and acting for themselves. As you said, it's not how one would've expected it to be, but it's life. All you can do is make some time for them one on one. Im hoping it'll become a regular thing with time, I'm sure we'll both do an ass kicking of a job. It's good to know we're not alone in our struggles, thank you for sharing ✨

“Some wednesday snapshots of the post pre-k hang me, Fernanda and Nita enjoyed today. We watched one of her favorites, Coco. Whenever the “un poco loco” song comes on she watches it on repeat, again and again. And she sing-screams along, in spanish, as loud as she can, to this (x). It was a wonderful moment to be her mother, hihi. She was so happy just being herself and so was I. Zoë was taking a nap and the bigger bugs hadn’t come home from school yet so I took my chance when I had it. It’s not very often I get to be alone with any of my kids except for Zoë. If I had my wish there’d be more hours to each day so you could have more time for all of your kids. I try my best, but with two toddlers, a middle schooler and a teenaged little brother on my plate; I’m up to my ears in kids! As a working single parent you get to be the one to carry all of your kids, you get to be there for every important event - the laughs, the love, the heartache - but you are also the one who has to carry all the workload and the stress, guilt, anxiety. Getting to spend some quality alone time with each one of them eases all of that, and I treasure these moments so much. 

On to less heavy things, I’ll be inserting the click to read more thing under my title (the date and day of the week) from now on, simply because I’m one of those people who just write and write until it’s half a wall. Since we commuicate a lot through reblogs in this community I’m thinking people will start getting pissed off at me if I reply with half a wall of text everytime. Oh, and I’m really grateful for all of you who have reached out to me and welcomed me. I greatly appreciate each one of you! I love interacting with you.

“First of all a big shout out to the stunning and wonderful @amberphoenixx for  the sweet welcome into this community! I’ve been following your blog and journey for a long time and I feel so incredibly humbled to have you check into our little corner of the world. From one momma to another, love 👩‍❤️‍👩 

Second of all, today has been a good day. Alba and Mateo have both had their first day of school, and apparently Alba made friends with the spanish teacher right away (which just is so typical Alba, hihi). Spanish was her first class in the morning and she had introduced herself in spanish to all of the kids. The teacher was delighted, and so am I. I love that my kids are interested in their heritage and speak their native language. It’s nothing you have to do, but since I was a child myself it’s always been a family kept tradition. How do you guys handle and speak about identity with your children? I feel like it’ll be more and more prominent as Alba grows up. She already has a lot of thoughts and deep questions, I see her pondering from time to time. Sometimes she asks me, sometimes she asks the cats. Oftentimes she asks Mateo, which I love because he’s a smart kid. Not afraid of anything.

The little bugs enjoyed a day home with momma, tomorrow Antonia will be going to daycare and I’ll be going with her to kind of…school her in, I guess? I think it’ll be fine, but gotta admit I’m a little nervous. I would like to think of myself as the farthest thing away from a helicopter mom, but daycare is just so many dark memories for me..haha. Jokes aside, how’s your days been fellow mama’s and papa’s?

Oh and, as a last treat, have a photo of yours truly. Now I think I’ve introduced you to everyone in the clan except for the cats? And the apartment. Maybe a house and cat tour is in order.”

Yeeesss some fellow mama vibes! I'm so glad to hear Callie's into it now, and also glad to know it's not just me who gets a little more "get to the chopper" when my family is going through changes 🙈 Maybe it's just us projecting our stress onto them. We become paranoid our kids aren't doing well so we spaz out, when in reality they're having the time of their lives, haha. But hey, moms do what moms gotta do.

I’ve been so quite nervous about the check up on our little bit of more magic for the last couple of days, since we found out if we’ll have a little prince or another little princess, and it was the first time we brought Lemmy with us to see her little sibling in my belly. 👶✨ When I found out I was pregnant again, I’ve heard so many women tell me how much more relaxed you are with your second child, how much more you can enjoy the pregnancy itself and prepare yourself better for the arrival of the new addition to the family. I must admit I don’t feel like that at all for some reason. Well, technically I know the reason. I’m beyond excited and thankful to have a little bit of magic growing in my belly again, but I’m just so nervous. Nervous about everything. Losing my first child has just left too deep scars on my soul. Will my baby be healthy? Will Lemmy get along with her sibling? Will I be able to handle two little humans without making Lemmy feel left out? That’s just some questions running through my head all the time lately. Luckily, the most important question could already be answered with this check up. - The little one is doing more than fine! 🙏🏼🖤 And watching Lemmy be so curious about what’s on the monitor while Asher explained to her it’s the little sibling in my belly, also gave me hope she’ll eventually love the baby as much as we already do. 💫

Thank you for sharing this Amber 💖 I think too many women are going through similar thoughts and things but are too uncomfortable to share it. You're ballin girl! Motherhood is a lot of things but one thing it's not is simple. From the moment we know they're in there we will love them, protect them and worry about them until the end of time (and in that order sis, am I right??). I understand your worry, I can't even imagine what it must've been like.

As for Lemmy getting along with her new sibling, every child is different. Antonia had huge problems when Zoë first was born, now she's obsessed with her little sister. I think the love between siblings is so strong, it's an unbreakable bond they share and it will grow as they do. Some children find that bond immediately, for some it takes time to adjust. Give yourself and her both some time, talk to each other about it. And Asher is too damn cute joining in, go dad! Congrats to you and the family 👨‍👩‍👧

05/11 Sunday morning.

1st: Antonia 5y & Zoë 2y / 2nd: Alba 11y / 4th: Mateo 17y

“So, the first week in the new house has come and gone. Last sunday feels like a lifetime ago and the kids are seeming more and more settled each passing day. Alba’s been exploring the garden, tearing up weeds here and there to “prepare for spring planting”? I keep reminding her that we haven’t even passed christmas yet but she seems unfazed and optimistic, the little bug. Zoë’s been doing better now that her cold has passed, although she’s still obsessed with her monster slipper(-socks?) and still refuses to take them off even at bedtime. I don’t mind though since warming the house up has been harder than we first anticipated when moving in. The floors are freezing cold so for now I just feel happy that I don’t have to make her wear them because, well, try making a 2 year old do ANYHTING?

Antonia’s been spending a lot of time with Mateo lately, three nights in a row she’s asked to sleep in his bed. And being such a sweet uncle he just lets her. I’m so grateful for his help..and his company…and his patience. In ten days it’s his 18th birthday and I have big plans.

And as for Nita, she’s been parked in front of the fireplace. Oftentimes joined by a snuggly Antonia. Both Nita and the cats seem to be taking to the house, maybe they too can feel the presence of my mother in the air, sometimes I enter a room and I can smell that sweet hyacinth note of her perfume. I think tonight is a perfect night to hold a seanse and call to her. I think both Mateo and Alba will wanna join me. They’ve both been practicing their spells and I want them to get a chance to use them for something other than mischief..🔮
