I really don’t know what to say. But the number one thing I should say is, I have no life. In some way, I guess I low-key ship them. But the truth is, I really hope they collab in the future. And my ship name for them is “BamChompoo”.

Cuz Ploychompoo in English literally translates to “PinkPink”. And the closest thing in Korean that sounds like “Pink” is “Pin Kkeut” (Edit: I’m still at a loss. This word doesn’t sound like pink. But like, whatever).
Could I still call this them the “SnakePoint” couple? Or should I stick with something like the Snake Point couple? Ugh. It’s hard trying to make fetch happen. TumTum is phonetic romanization of Boom or Bam in Thai. Could I play around with that?
Then there’s their real names: Jannine and Kunpimook.

So what started out as a shitpost on twitter eventually sorta devolved into a mini essay, and I figured while it was still fresh in my head, I'd write it all down here. Again, as with most of my thoughts of this nature, it'll probably be an unorganised mess, so I'm gomenasorry in advance. 🙏
But like, we know that Higashi very fiercely idolised Kaito. Even after the latter's expulsion, even while watching his boys kicks his ass, even while pointing a damn gun at him, Higashi never once stopped calling Kaito his aniki. But his relationship with Yagami is wholly, decidedly different. Even back before his run-in with Hamura, back when Higashi was still a meek baby with the vintage glasses that add unflattering years onto his age, Higashi didn't like him, he was just never very vocal about it.
(Save for that one time he accidentally, and drunkenly blurted out that Yagami was like a disease, but that's a recollection for a ficlet at a later date. 👀)
Yagami, unlike everybody else involved with Matsugane, was not there because of life's woes. Yagami, unlike everybody else, still had a chance to walk a better life. Yagami, unlike everybody else, had potential to be something greater than a thug who exclusively picks fights. To Higashi, someone who was probably left no other choice but to turn to the yakuza life (as per 90% of the whole cast, mainline games inclusive), he just couldn't bring himself to accept that, and thus resentment began to brew. Not just for the opportunity his life held, but also because Kaito could see that spark of potential in him too, and maybe, juuuust maybe some of that resentment was borne of jealousy. He sees Yagami as nothing but a hindrance. Just some supremely spoiled kid who got lucky, and probably never actually worked a single hard day in his life. So he holds on to this bitterness for years and years, never trying to understand Yagami; only ever really noticing how he was always stealing the spotlight, the attention, the adoration of Matsugane (and Kaito), even though he's not even properly sworn into their world.
It just didn't seem fair?
And he continued to feel this way about Yagami probably, right up until the Red Nose incident in Judgment, where he sees, for the first time, exactly what Yagami can do, and what Yagami can bring to the world. After Yagami lifts the burden off his back that he's been carrying around for year—a year that was rife with self doubt, a little self loathing, and a loyalty to Hamura that's only skin deep—Higashi finally, but begrudgingly gets it; that innate, incredibly strong sense of justice that Yagami holds within him. And he thinks "fine, I guess you're okay." Higashi probably won't ever be as buddy-buddy with Yagami as Kaito, or even Sugiura is, but there's a respect there that just wasn't before.
That, and well, Matsugane's values are just as deeply ingrained in Higashi as they are in Yagami and Kaito. After the whole Red Nose scandal, he figures he owes the guy one. Where it goes from there, he'll just have to see.
