So here it is, in the daylight, our first experiment using shipping pallets as the primary building material to create a temporary art space for high school students. The concept of teaching environmental architecture through real world built examples is very exciting to us and we believe there is huge potential in re-making environmental education to be interactive and participatory so ideas truly stick through the experience of making, which creates memories.
We didn't finish up the install until around 10 Pm on Friday, to be ready for the closing ceremony the following day, but it looked great even without any artwork on it.
These photos are the construction of "Shipping Pallet Art Space". We had 30 girls and 30 boys from all of Kosovo assist in painting and constructing this sustainable architecture work which functioned as a temporary art gallery for the students work during a two week summer camp at American University in Kosovo. Great project and great fun.

This is the blog created by Albanian, Serbian and German students documenting the construction of Only Great Design’s “Culture Shack” in Belgrade Serbia. The photos give a glimpse into the feeling and essense of creating architecture in the Balkans with the help of an international student build team! Thanks for all the help guys!

About to go upcycle this burned down building on the outskirts of Belgrade! Video to follow! Less than 10 days until completion! Time to turn it on!
A local Belgrade street artist showed me one of her spots where there just happens to be all the reclaimed material I need! Lets see how I can scoop it!
1. Concept Image of the new reclaimed walkway.
2. Making a direct/indirect subtle contact with the Sava river.
3. Architectural elements will come from the water and create the spaces for human engagement.
1. Reclaimed Lumber found at an abandoned Railroad property owned by the state. Very complicated bureaucratic process to acquire this material for the architecture pavillion
2. Rusted and beautiful steel grate used for floor slabs and concrete structures. This stuff must be at least 50 years old and perfect for making green walls and allowing plants to climb up onto the structures
3. This is the true find. 11 7 meter long structural wooden trusses ill be recycled and transformed into the fencing panels connecting the Sava river to the historic district.
4. The roof is being held in place by small wooden slats which will be removed and integrated as screening in the panels.
Thank you so much to everyone who had a part in making this possible. Ideas about community outreach can acutally work! I can't lie I was a little surprised! We had about 100 people come out to participate in making hanging glass jars decorated with colored tissue paper to incorporate into the installation. A group of kids from the High school performed christmas carols while the coffee and hot cider flowed deep! -OGD
Awesome "Paint Day" with the Middle School Kids. 200 6th and 7th graders each painted their own piece of luan plywood. They were given blue painters tape to make a design on the ply, then paint over the tape with the colors of ECS (Blue, Green, Red) and then peel the tape off to create some interest. The pieces came out amazing! Good job Kiddos! Thanks for all your hard work!
This weekend we set up the panels to create a meandering pathway through the art work. Hanging filament bulbs make it glow at night. One week left before opening night!
