i get why ppl keep making Derek be a better fighter/stronger than Avery (knight skin + realistic minecraft = actual knight > knights train a lot > yadayada) but like. Avery is canonically a skywars champ. or player. whatever. he's canonically GOOD at combat. like yeah yeah it's headcanons but also!!! that slime is strong!!!! he can toss that knight around!!! he can definitely toss that nerd around!!!! LET AVERY MANHANDLE DEREK!!!!!!!!!!

#was gunna do a whole guesstimation exercise based on avery being depicted as heavier and derek being underweight#and how much could avery theoretically bench and/or lift based on his body type and athetic prowess#does surfing so hes gotta be a strong swimmer#does skating so hes got strong asf calves#so lower and upper body strength shouldnt be unbalanced#and as baseline the average man untrained can lift around 110-130 which is ALREADY the entirety of dereks weight#if we're considering derek to be underweight as a mid to tall man#which is a ballpark of 5'5 - 5'8#the heaviest derek can be while still being classified as under weight is 130 and thats at the 5'8 mark#again. considering that the average physically active man ~also~ can lift their own weight most of the time.#and that avery is active in sports that work on core strengtb#balance#and upper body strength#well uhm. factor in he's typically heavier than derek too. in fanworks#yeah so derek doesnt stand a chance#i have a friend who could throw me like a javalin as a side note#avery thinks derek weighs fucking nothing#could comfortably fireman carry that nerd and wear him like a scarf tags by @lightyearssurrogatedaddy

Well... Yes and no.

The last time Ryland Grace was CONSCIOUS of any human touch was when he was knocked out. Absolutely true.

But the last human contact he would have had was Yao and Ilyukhina. Who were told that he was scared about panicking during launch and asked to be sedated. Who did all the pre flight checks before the Hail Mary launched. Who would have carefully, gently carried Grace to his bed in the dormitory, made sure he was secure, and initiated his coma procedure.

There would have been love there. Remember Ilyukhina throwing her hands high and saying "welcome to crew!" Remember Yao saying how he hoped Grace would say yes. Remember how much the crew trusted Grace, Stratt's First Officer, the guy who helped them so much, and was so kind to them, and was the one who they entrusted their preferred methods of suicide to. Who thought they were wonderful and brave.

They would have tucked him in. Maybe brushed his hair out of his face. Maybe said something kind to him before initiating their own coma procedures.

Ryland Grace doesn't remember, of course he wouldn't. But the last human touch he ever had was full of love.
