When spot dies, her soul is temporarily outside of her body and can be "guided" to the afterlife (though once she arrives there, her soul is instantly transported back to her dimension where she regenerates)

Doorman n spot first meet one time when she dies n they talk for a bit (well. Mostly spot talking at him) before he sends her off

He thinks that's the last he'll see of her until he's on the job n sees her again

She takes this as an opportunity to talk to him more n she grows Very fond of him. She even purposely dies so she can meet him again, which he is a bit exasperated by as it makes his job a bit harder but there is something weirdly charming about her so he begrudgingly goes along with it (and there's also not much he can do about it)
