タイの首都、バンコク。 若者たちが、何やら歌を歌いながら行進しています。 聞こえてくるのは「ハム太郎」というワード。 これは一体…？ デモ参加者 「これは『とっとこハム太郎』のテーマソングの替え歌です。 『大好きなのはヒマワリの種』という歌詞を 『大好きなのは納税者のお金』に置き換えている。 『ヒマワリの種』と『納税者のお金』は韻を踏んでいて、 税金を浪費している政府を風刺しています。」 アニメ「とっとこハム太郎」のテーマソングにのせた、 反政府デモだといいます。 若者たちが訴えるのは、 国会の解散、政府批判者への嫌がらせの中止、憲法改正 という3つの要求。 タイでは、軍主導の政治を継承する、 プラユット政権への抗議活動が断続的に続いていますが、 それがこうした独特な形に発展したワケとは… デモ参加者 「大人たちは、『こんなことをしていたら真剣に受け止めてもらえない』 と思うかもしれない。 しかし、これは新しい世代のやり方だ。 伝統的な抗議の方法に固執するのではなく、 何かが変わることを期待して、違う方法でやっているのです」
