I'm sure the cat is just sleeping, but its pose and the petals reminded me of a painting.

NASA released the clearest pictures yet of our neighbours in the solar system
Oh and of course us
Honourable mention
HIII so while all these images are super cool, they are mostly false colour views and/or highly edited and colour corrected. Labelling these images as the “clearest pictures yet” is incredibly misleading to the public (classic), and saying that NASA did so is (somewhat) wrong. The closest to what is actually visible to the human eye from this photo set are Uranus and Saturn. Here's some more information on each image with sources:
1. Mercury
The Mercury image is a false colour image from NASA's MESSENGER Spacecraft which "enhances the chemical, mineralogical, and physical differences between the rocks that make up Mercury's surface." (quoted from NASA Goddard, the first link) More information on the Mercury photo can be found here, and here (where you can also see a closer true colour image in comparison).
Direct quote from NASA Goddard on the Mercury image above (The first link. Also there's also a really cool composite gif of the planet spinning in false colour if you keep looking through their posts); "These colors are not what Mercury would look like to the human eye"
2. Venus
The Venus image is a highly edited and flipped version of a false colour image from JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency AKA not NASA)'s AKATSUKI spacecraft. The original false colour image can be found here. You can find more information on AKATSUKI here, other images of Venus from AKATSUKI here, and a closer true colour image from NASA's MESSENGER Spacecraft here (she's shy, ok?).
3. Mars
This Mars image is from NASA and can be found in the background here. You can view a multitude of Mars images here, here (more Mars resources), and here (rover images) at your leisure. You can find a closer true colour image from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope here. Also here's a cute image of a crater on Mars from NASA from Valentine's Day in 2000.
4. Jupiter (my baby)
This Jupiter image is from NASA's Juno Mission, and has been edited/colour corrected in post. You can see raws and public submissions from the JunoCam here. You can find a photo journal of images taken by JunoCam here. Some interesting articles from NASA with photos on Jupiter/the Juno Mission can be found here and here. A closer to true colour image can be found here from NASA's Cassini Mission.
5. Saturn
This Saturn image is from NASA's Hubble Space Telescope, and shows an aurora on the Southern Pole of Saturn, partially caused by its magnetosphere. You can find more information on said magnetosphere here, where said image is showcased as well (though the primary focus is on NASA's Cassini Mission's findings). You can find a photo journal of images taken of Saturn and one of its moons, Titan, by both Hubble and Cassini here. This image is one of the closer to true colour of the others, but here's another cool image of a closer to true colour visual of Saturn's rings alongside one of its moons, Tethys.
6. Uranus
This Uranus image is from NASA's Voyager 2 Mission back in the 80's! You can find out more about Voyager 2's journey to Uranus here. This image is also one of the closer to true colour images, but would be somewhat less saturated. You can find a true colour comparison here, both images from Voyager 2. Also here's a link with some facts about Uranus from NASA.
7. Neptune
This image of Neptune is also from NASA's Voyager 2 Mission, and can be found with more information here. You can learn more about Voyager 2's journey to Neptune here. You can find some more images of Neptune here. Neptune's true colour visual is closer to Uranus', as it is much less saturated and more green-toned to the human eye. A good example of this can be found here from this article.
8. Earth and Pluto
I'm combining these two because I'm just going to be linking some other pictures of them both and some interesting facts.
More images of Earth can be found here and here. You can find some cool info on my favourite image of Earth to date (thank you Voyager 1) here as well.
More images of Pluto can be found here, as well as some cool info here. Also here's a cool documentary from NASA on Pluto, the Kuiper Belt, and NASA's New Horizons Mission.
A note to end on- false colour images are not misleading or wrong themselves. In fact, they are incredibly important, informative, and cool to look at! People continually spreading misinformation is what is wrong. Ok thank you bye!!
