Witchy Self-Care
*pulls out draft from over a year ago* ENJOY
Hi! this is a list of witchy self-care things you can do. Most of these are pretty basic on account that i wrote this ages ago but they definitely still work. Anyways, I hope these help :)
Do the dishes and dedicate it to your house spirit (if you have one) or a deity (if you're religious)
sweep/mop your floor in the shape of sigils
add rosemary (or rosemary water/essential oils) to the water you mop with to set an intention of cleansing
taking ritual a bath/shower
cleansing your energy. it's so basic but I forget more than i'd like to admit
dedicating time to yourself. it's just as important as dedicating time to your deities/other spirits
light shadow work or going to therapy. bettering your mental health also betters your spiritual.
go outside and ground yourself
take a nap (less witchy, more, I love naps. rest is important)
work out/stretch and dedicate it to an entity
do some gratitude
take 5 minutes to just sit and turn off your devices. you can use this time for anything, just take a second to get off screens and connect with the world around you
meditate. if you can't sit still long enough to meditate, just focus on taking 3 deep breathes
when you wash your face, draw sigils on your face with the cleanser and moisturiser
^do the same as above but with your body wash and when you wash your hair
say some affirmations/manifestations while brushing your teeth
just check in with yourself and see how you're feeling spiritually, psychically and emotionally. sometimes we don't actually know how we're feeling until we sit down and actually ask ourselves.
If anyone has any more to add please comment. I'll add them to the list (with credit of course)
i know good things are coming my way and i deserve them.
Earth Charged Black Salt
So I wanted to make some black salt but had no charcoal so I thought I’d come up with a new recipe, more charged with earth magick (SO LOTS OF DIRT)
- Salt (as if you haven’t guessed)- absorbs negative energy
- Black pepper- ward, banishing negativity
- Cinnamon- sanctifies an area, healing, protection
- Chilli Powder- protection, strength, power
- Tobacco- offerings, cleansing
- DIRT (graveyard, garden, swamp, whatever the eff you want)- grounding, earth
Mix and Charge with intent.
FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY DO NOT EAT, NOT ONLY WILL IT TASTE GROSS BUT DIRT AND TOBACCO ARE HARMFUL TO EAT SO DON’T.
Have fun guys!

Childhood Signs of Being a ‘Natural-Born-Witch’
Whether it runs in your family or you are self taught, a witch is a witch is a witch. Many practitioners of the craft do, however, show signs of the gift in early childhood. For people born in families either unfamiliar or opposed to the craft, these signs often go unnoticed, neglected (or in the worst case, punished). For those who are familiar, it can be heartwarming to see a child take after you, or at least witness a free spirit thrive.
Here are common signs NBWs sometimes experience as children :
Odd dreams/sleep habits:
*Not to be confused with any underlying health conditions* I’ve heard many people say that one of the earliest signs that they (or their parents) noticed was abnormal dreams or sleep. Although all children usually experience odd dreams/nightmares/sleepwalking, there may sometimes be more too it than meets the eye. This can start anywhere from the infant stage to young adulthood. For me personally it started out as “sleepwalking” while still in the crib, which later turned into strange dreams and eventually clairvoyance. Chronic or reoccurring odd dreams are probably the most common sign for many. Dreams with strange figures, creatures, individuals, symbolism, or even unfamiliar languages and deceased ancestors are potential flags.
Clairvoyance:
Children getting Deja Vu in excess, or having the ability to obtain strange knowledge from seemingly nowhere may be showing signs of clairvoyance. This goes beyond basic intuition. Clairvoyance can manifest in many different ways. It could be from dreams, or simply getting “feelings” (good or bad vibes) in certain situations. This typically gets stronger throughout puberty, but may develop much earlier or later in some.
Strange obsessions:
A child taking a natural interest in witchy things is a pretty solid sign. For instance, when I was in third grade I became completely obsessed with herbal medicine for no apparent reason. I was just great at memorizing plants and their uses. Other common obsessions may be the supernatural in general, or perhaps the use of certain symbols in art. Young children may scribble pentagrams or other symbols they feel drawn to in excess. A child may draw strange or reoccurring art of otherworldly places, things, and beings.
Imaginary friends:
*not to be confused with symptoms of mental illness! This is most common with very small children that typically outgrow it. Older children who ‘keep’ imaginary friends are usually evaluated by medical professionals to insure health.*
When people think of imaginary friends they often imagine a pegasus or a quirky, colorful character. These would be considered normal to most, but some “imaginary friends” could be described as… unsettling. A child may claim to speak to one or many different imaginary friends. These beings are sometimes described as resembling people or animals that once existed. A child may also describe what these characters say and do. Children may mysteriously have knowledge about something odd, and claim that their “imaginary friend” informed them. There are some who believe that small children can easily see through the veil, and therefore are able communicate with the other side more effectively than adults.
Strong empathy:
Signs of being an ‘empath’ can start very young. Children with the ability to easily tame wild or feral animals may be using these skills to do so. These children often come off as being mature for their age. They are usually levelheaded and caring of others. Their understanding of emotion may also make them good at lying, or occasionally manipulative. Negative energy affects them very badly, causing stress. This often causes these children to be more fond of animals than other children. Children with strong empathy usually enjoy pleasing others and making others happy. They thrive best in positivity and don’t take criticism well. This trait follows children into adulthood and can sometimes be difficult to manage.
Other General Signs:
A deep love for nature. A highly active imagination. A fascination with the unknown or supernatural. The urge to heal. An effortless respect for plants and animals. Appearing to be ‘lost in their own world’. A natural knack for herbalism, divination, ect. Seeming wise beyond their years. Abilities that appear otherworldly. Creating strange superstitions or stories, and probably much more that I haven't covered.

Many thanks for your enlightening posts on astrology! I wonder Diana if there is a method that will allow me to understand astro placements as a whole? Or do I just have to study and memorise them all one by one? Cuz now I just research them one by one. Venus in Pisces, Saturn in Cap, Neptune in 3rd. Is there like a method I'm missing? A sort of shortcut maybe?
How to Understand Astrological Placements
It is a simple three-step process.
STEP 1: Know the difference between Planets, Signs and Houses.
Planets are the sources of energies that influence our lives. For example, Jupiter is the source of abundance, Venus is the source of beauty, and Mercury is the source of intelligence.
Signs are the categories of our personalities. To illustrate, Cancer is a nurturing personality, Libra is a harmonious personality, and Pisces is an intuitive personality.
Houses are the areas of our lives. Such as, the Second House is the area of our money, the Sixth House is the area of our health, and the Seventh House is the area of our partnerships.
STEP 2: Know what each Planet, Sign and House represents.
THE PLANETS IN A NUTSHELL
Sun – Source of your stamina
Moon – Source of your instincts
Mercury – Source of your intelligence
Venus – Source of your beauty
Mars – Source of your aggression
Jupiter – Source of your abundance
Saturn – Source of your ambitions
Uranus – Source of your eccentricity
Neptune – Source of your intuition
Pluto – Source of your power
THE POSITIVE AND THE NEGATIVE OF THE SIGNS
Aries – Driven and dominating personality
Taurus – Tenacious and stubborn personality
Gemini – Sociable and deceptive personality
Cancer – Nurturing and passive-aggressive personality
Leo – Brave and prideful personality
Virgo – Disciplined and critical personality
Libra – Harmonious and fickle personality
Scorpio – Passionate and vindictive personality
Sagittarius – Optimistic and tactless personality
Capricorn – Determined and greedy personality
Aquarius – Humanistic and emotionally detached personality
Pisces – Intuitive and escapist personality
THE ROOMS OF THE HOUSES
The First House of Self – Area of your self worth, your confidence, how you judge yourself, what you believe your purpose to be.
The Second House of Value – Area of your finances, the money that you earn, whatever you consider as your valuable possessions.
The Third House of Communication – Area of your contracts, the messages you receive, the conversations you have, how you express yourself.
The Fourth House of Home – Area of your actual home, the people you live with, whatever you define to be your foundation as a person.
The Fifth House of Pleasure – Area of your creative passions, your children, the things and places that give you comfort and happiness.
The Sixth House of Routine – Area of your daily life, your health and energy, your schedule at work, your projects and assignments.
The Seventh House of Relationships – Area of your romantic and sex life, your business partnerships, the one person you consider closest to you.
The Eighth House of Transformation – Area of your evolution as a person, what others find mysterious about you, rewards other people will give you.
The Ninth House of Philosophy – Area of your adventures, your beliefs, your learnings in terms of spirituality, what you wish to explore.
The Tenth House of Reputation – Area of your career, your place in the world, how you want other people to see you, your public image.
The Eleventh House of Community – Area of your close friends, your outer circle, the causes that you care about, where you stand in society.
The Twelfth House of Secrets – Area of your own secrets as well as truths that have been kept from you, your intuition, your deepest dreams.
STEP 3: Interpret them all together.
Now that you understand what each of them means, you should be able to interpret any placement simply by combining them.
Pluto in Scorpio in the Seventh House If Pluto is the source of power... Scorpio is a passionate and vindictive personality... and the Seventh House is the area of relationships, then:
A man with this placement has very powerful (Pluto) emotions for the people in his life (Seventh House). He is exceptionally kind and protective towards those he loves (Scorpio), but extremely hateful and dangerous towards those he considers his enemies (Scorpio).
Jupiter in Leo in the Fourth House If Jupiter is the source of abundance... Leo is a brave and prideful personality... and the Fourth House is the area of home, then:
A young girl with this placement could someday have a truly amazing family life (Fourth House). She could marry a wealthy man (Jupiter), and their beautiful, intelligent or talented children would be the source of her pride (Leo).
Neptune in Capricorn in the Ninth House If Neptune is the source of intuition... Capricorn is a determined and greedy personality... and the Ninth House is the area of philosophy, then:
Someone with this placement has the potential to become a cult leader. Spiritual dogma (Ninth House) will be very easy for them to create (Neptune). And their ambitions could push them to preach it to others (Capricorn).
All you need to memorize are the 10 Planets, the 12 Signs and the 12 Houses. Using that knowledge, you can easily assess anyone's personality and make reliable predictions about their destiny.

How are things with your familiar? Your companions? The local land wights? The spirit(s) of your house? Do they need anything from you to keep the relationship strong, if you have one?
Are there any unexpected entities hanging around/taking up anchors? (Give your knickknacks a good check for this, as well as any old toys and jewelry.)
Do you have any promises, dedications, or oaths you’ve taken up? Have you been maintaining your end of the deal/is there anything you can do to be progressive about it?

Birds Of Prey Inspired Spicy Avocado Breakfast Sandwich on Ciabatta Bread
So I watched birds of prey over the weekend, and immediately was in the mood for a city style breakfast sandwich. So as always, I experimented around in the kitchen ;)
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- Olive oil
- Bacon
- 2 Slices Ciabatta Bread
- American Cheese (I like 2-3 slices but it’s entirely up to you :))
- Hot sauce (Optional)
For the avocado spread:
- An Avocado
- Lime/Lemon Juice
- Smoked Paprika
- Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
- Sea Salt
Directions
Mash an avocado with a fork and add lime or lemon juice, salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper if you like your sandwich extra spicy. Mash together until incorporated.
Brush Ciabatta Bread with butter or olive oil and toast in toaster oven. When it comes out, spread your avocado mixture onto 1 side of your bread.
Cook your bacon in the oven or on a stovetop.
Pour a little bit of olive oil into the pan and crack two eggs in on medium low heat. When 1 side is cooked flip over and cook on the other side. You want them to be slightly under cooked at this stage.
While that is cooking on its other side,
Place cheese and cooked bacon over the eggs. When the yolk is still runny, take the egg off the heat and place onto the bread side with the avocado spread on it. Add your hot sauce and cover with another slice of bread.
Your done!
