op deactivated reblogs alas - I love the jokes about Long Live the Black Parade as much as anyone else, but we all know it's art that actually has something to say, right? Art that means different things to different people and allows for a lot of interpretations? We don't just disregard it as a "fetish opera" or - even more insulting to Gerard Way aka a person who is sober (!!!) - something created without thought in a drugged state. Like guys. We know this, right?

Jane from Doom Patrol (2019)
While it is a superhero show and she therefore has superpowers, the show makes it clear that the DID isn't her superpower nor the source of it whatsover. She was just a system who happenend to also get into superhero stuff (and she is really badass with it.)
She is a main character in the show and we get a lot of backstory for her, including abuse from the medical system and the traumatic event in her childhood and how she deals with her systemhood through the years.
It's the only really good example of DID representation in media I know, and maybe you already know of her, but if u didn't well - maybe u would enjoy her :>
watching some videos on jane and the rest of her system and it seems REALLY WELL DONE???? I keep having to pause and just Feel Excited because while it IS very fantastical and super hero based. IT'S SO MUCH LIKE HOW IT IS FOR ME AND MY CREW?????? the banter. the way people are just. People! and everyone looks Different which is so huge to me because so often different people in systems get depicted as near identical in fiction. thank you for the rec!!! this means a lot to me! it's nice to feel seen in a piece of fiction like this [:
