UGH I wanna fall in love again. it’s way too soon and I should be focusing on myself but. I heard someone say ‘I love you’ into their phone and it was so tender that I nearly lost my mind right there in the dollar store.

like shit, I haven’t even gone back to finish grabbing my stuff from their place, and I’m still not over everything they put me through, and I’m still crushing on every pretty violist and curly-haired theater major I have a positive interaction with.

maybe I’ll write a song or get a tattoo about it or smth idk

screw being rich and famous. my life goal is to bake a 100% local chocolate chip cookie.

I know some ingredients will be harder than others. I already know that I want to keep chickens and ducks for eggs, and grow wheat and beets for flour and sugar. I’ll have to either trade for some local cow butter or figure out how best to use goat butter, since I’m not sure I’m up for doing everything it takes to keep a cow actively milking.

Chocolate will be hard, even though a cacao tree should be simple to keep in a greenhouse once I can source one. I did a bit of research, and it takes a lot of cacao beans to ferment into chocolate, and one tree only produces a handful of pods each season. It should be doable, though.

my hometown is built on a salt flat, so I should be able to do something with that to get my pinch of salt. I have some research to do there.

as for baking powder/soda, I have absolutely no idea. leavening powder is a relatively recent invention, so I don’t know if the process of making it is something I’d be able to do at home. otherwise, I might have to fall back on yeast, which would have serious trouble with the very, very enriched cookie dough.

and of course it’ll all have to be baked in a solar oven!

overall, I think this it’s doable, and it’s what I want to spend my life figuring out. reject capitalism embrace cookie
