Intro post!

Hi all! I’m C (he/him). I’m a pianist from Galar. I mainly compose and do gigs but I do keep Pokémon and battle casually as well.

I have three Pokémon: a Rookidee, Kawdyr; a Chatot, Rameau; and a Toxtricity, Basil.

- C is an AU version of one of my other Pokemon OCs, Cor, who is in turn based heavily on Winslow from Phantom of the Paradise.

- I haven’t interacted with gen VIII stuff in depth, so there may be lore inaccuracies.

- I’m a full time student and probably won’t have the time/motivation to consistently update or check this blog.

I accidentally put an (empty) pokeball through the washer and dryer (big pockets). Should I replace it or is it still fine to use?

pokeballs are designed to take some pretty rough treatment. they're thrown around all kinds of crazy environments outside, and they're built to withstand being submerged in water! provided it didn't open, the internal mechanisms are probably okay. it may reduce the pokeball's lifespan (pokeballs that are just kept at home can last decades, but it's recommended to replace them every ten years or so if you're travelling in the wild a lot), but it's likely still good to use.

any pokemon center healing machine can run a check on a pokeball's functionality, so you can always take it to one if you're worried!

I don’t believe that people have been actually turned into Pokémon. And it’s kind of concerning Rotomblr would allow evil teams to have a presence on this site. Is this for some alternate universe thing I’m not clued into?

The Cramorant Incident was more an injury to my pride than anything. I've suffered a lot worse.

Once my Chatot Rameau used Chatter on me (long story) and I ate shit into the kitchen counter. I needed like, six stitches on my skull. There was a lot of blood.

how do you nickname your pokémon?

i follow a theme for all of my pokémon (ex: cupcake and smoothie)

i base it off of their appearance (ex: pinky and fuzzy)

i base it off of their species name (ex: bulba and charm)

i name them after people (ex: bart and samantha)

i choose name otherwise relevant to the specific pokemon (ex: buzz and godzilla)

i choose completely random names (ex: peeko and bleebus)

other (tag it)

multiple of the above

i don't name my pokémon

i've never had a pokémon

A poll, to satisfy my curiosity:

We obviously all name our Pokemon. However, what sort of nicknames that aren't their registered nicknames do you call yours? Especially the more.... shall we say, slightly cruder ones.

I have seen one client at my clinic who continually referred to their Liepard (registered name: Sam) as "Stinky Little Bastard Man", or a Mincinno (registered name: Scarfy) who seemed to think her name was "Glutton", or a Roggenrola who was, in their Trainer's own words, "dumber than the rocks you're made of."

And yet all of these Trainers say these things with clear love and affection. Do others call their Pokemon similar things? Silly nicknames? Do you have any stories behind those nicknames, or stories of your Pokemon seemingly... lacking in intelligence?

I call Kaw "the orb". Or "the evil orb" if he's being mischievous. He is very spherical.

I've also taken to calling him "Son of Kadwyr", inspired by his namesake.
