He didn’t mean to overhear what was said when walking through the hallway, he was on his way to the lounge room where his brothers are watching the sports game… but he couldn’t help but stop in his tracks when hearing your voice, talking on the phone, in your room.

“Of course they don’t know yet...”

“No, No… My dad would never tell them.”

“I just don’t want my brothers’ to be weird about our relationship.”

“We’ll tell them soon.”

“Ugh… I don’t even want to think of having to tell the teams.”

“I promise… Just give me some time.”

“Thank you and I know everything will be fine… I love you.”

When the phone call with the mysterious person ended, he heard you pace around your room, if he closed his eyes he could imagine that your hands are in your hair as you talked under your breath.

It takes him a minute to realize the secret he accidentally discovered.

“She is dating who?!” were the words spoken by the oldest brother.

“I don’t know!” Duke tries to explain for what feels like the hundredth time, “All I heard was her say was that us and the teams don’t know about them and she doesn’t want us to be weird about their relationship so she needs more time but will tell us soon.”

“We are never dramatic!” Jason yells.

The room goes quiet in disbelief. “Okay Fine. We are dramatic! But we have every right to be… especially with this news.” he corrected.

“We have to assume it’s one of our friends on the hero teams right?!” Tim asks, “That’s the only logical reason why she would hide it and be scared to tell everyone about it.”

“She was not scared to tell Father.” Damian stated.

Dick wonders, “How could she be scared to tell us but not Bruce?”

“Why don’t we just ask Bruce?” Duke suggests.

“No!” The other boys shouted in unison.

Damian states, “Father would never tell Sister’s secrets.”

“And if we ask him, he’ll tell her.” Dick says. “Knowing her, she’ll be really upset at us for being in her private business.”

“Then we will blame Thomas for being the reason why we know about her romantic relationship.” Damian stated.

Duke gasps, “Why blame me?”

“Because you were the one listening to her phone call outside of her bedroom… when you could have just walked away.” the young boy explained,“And then told us her secret when you could have kept the information to yourself.”

“I wasn’t listening to her conversation on purpose.” Duke defensively says, “And I only told everyone here because I thought you would want to know.”

“We do want to know so thank you.” Tim says, “But we won’t hesitate to throw you under the bus if she finds out.”

“So this is what it’s like to have brothers.” Duke mutters under his breath, while rolling his eyes in annoyance.

“Welcome to the family!” Jason exclaims, pulling him into a brotherly side hug. “But back to the important matters at hand…”

“Other than Bruce… who else do we think could know?” Dick asks.

“The specific people who could know about the relationship plays a part into who she is dating.” Damian stated. “Because we are suppose to not know until she is ready means that she is dating someone that we personally know.”

“Do we think Cassandra knows?” Tim asks.

“She definitely knows… but we can’t ask her.” Jason answers.

“Sisters would never share each other’s secrets.” Dick stated, “It’s apart of the Girl Code.”

Duke looks over at Dick with a questioned expression, “What do you know about Girl Code?”

Dick puts his hands up in defense, “I pay attention to women!”

Jason snickers, “Yeah, we know that.” earning a shove that nearly pushed him off the couch from Dick.

“You could just patiently wait for Madame to be ready to tell you about her romantic relationship.” Alfred says, catching them off guard, walking into the room with a requested plate of snacks.

“Do you know about her relationship?” Tim asked.

Dick added to the question,“More importantly, who she is dating?”

Alfred answers their question as he places the plate of food on the coffee table, “I don’t share the families’ secrets.”

“The butler knows about sister’s relationship but not us?!” Damian exclaims, “No offense Pennyworth”, looking apologetically at him.

“This is your sister’s first relationship as an adult, let her decide when it is the right time to tell her brothers. Don’t go and try to figure it out on your own time.” Alfred ordered, giving a generous smile to the boys then walking out of the lounge room.

The five brothers dropped the conversation, to be able enjoy their snacks while watching the sports game… but the curiosity of your secret relationship still lingered in their minds.

They couldn’t be mad at you for choosing to keep your relationship a secret… if anything, they’re mad at themselves for not noticing anything going on between you and one of your mutual friends.

They’re going to try and find out, one way or another…

As the daughter of one of the world’s greatest daughter… it wasn’t hard to notice that something was going on in the Wayne Manor.

For the past two weeks, you felt like eyes were on you at all times.

Dick and Jason, who don’t live full time at the manor, have been spending their free-time here… You love when your older brothers come home; but something felt rehearsed about these visits.

“I’ve noticed you’ve been reading a lot of romance books lately.”

“Romance is the best selling book genre in the world, Jason.”

“It’s just an observation.”

“An observation that I read books?!”

“It’s an observation that you are what you read.”

“Last time I checked… I’m not a Princess Bride.”

Whether you were in the Bat-Cave, one of the lounge rooms, the library, the main dining room, the courtyard, or your bathroom… Either one of your older brothers always tried to start up conversations with the feeling of intention to figure something out.

“I know I haven’t been around at the manor… but has anything important happened in your life lately that I should know about?”

“That is a bullshit lie!”

“You didn’t answer the question.”

“I’m not talking to you about my life while trying to clean up after an ambush from The Condiment King.”

“Why not?! It’s the perfect time to talk!”

“No! I need to take a bubble bath!”

“What about after—”

“Get out of the bathroom Dick!”

Tim has been stalking you; not literally but figuratively.

Whenever you try to leave the manor; he always appears right at the front entrance and starts asking questions… You would think he’s created a spreadsheet of who you’re hanging out with and where you’re hanging out at with the all of the answers you’ve given him.

On the other hand; Damian has been avoiding being around you.

If you walk into a room, he’s making an excuse to leave. If you try to make plans with him, he’s busy that day and the next few days. He refused your offer to go on patrol with him… and even when the two of you are around each other, he’s not paying attention to you; his eyes are focused on your phone as if he’s anticipating it to go off.

The only brother who seems to be acting normal around you is Duke, but his behavior wasn’t enough to reassure you that nothing strange was going on with your other brothers and their behavior… and it really didn’t help that he didn’t seem to notice anything strange.

“Do you think I’m being paranoid—”

“I think you are being paranoid.”

“How could I not be?!”

“I think you’re overthinking every little thing…”

“Dick and Jason refuse to leave my side when they’re at the Manor, Tim keeps asking me questions every time I leave, and Damian avoids me but tried to steal my phone, TWICE!”

“I think they just want to spend time with their little sister more, Tim is being Tim, and Damian might be going through a phase.”

“Ugh… If this behavior doesn’t stop soon, I’m going to tell Dad.”

You couldn’t help but think it was all in your head.

It wasn’t that you thought your brothers were doing something wrong, it just didn’t seem like they were doing something right.

And your mind spiraled trying to figure a logical reason for this.

One reason crosses your mind… which causes you to go from laying comfortably in bed to sitting straight up with a fast beating heart.

They couldn’t know about it… How would they know?!

The people who know about the relationship wouldn’t tell them…

You didn’t mean to hide it for as long as you have, but it’s only been a few months since you started dating… and you deserve privacy.

But if they know… They would tell you that they know, right?!

The sound of your phone ringing snapped you out of your thoughts.

Looking over at your nightstand, you couldn’t help but to smile when seeing the name of who is calling on the phone screen… and immediately picked it up to answer.

“Hi my love!”

You couldn’t resist giggling when they responded with your name.

If time was on your side, you would stay talking on the phone until they’re home but unfortunately, they had just a few minutes to talk.

After asking about your day and getting an update on their mission.

You received some good news.

“The mission should be completed by the end of the week… and instead of going back to the Watch-Tower, I was thinking about coming straight to Gotham.”

“To see me?!” you flirtatiously asked.

“Of course Babe!” they laughed, “Also because… I thought about it since we told our friends, it’s time to tell your brothers.”

You couldn’t help but sigh, “You think so?”

“We can’t delay telling them much longer before they find out.”

“I have a feeling they know… something already.” you stressed.

“Well then… if they’re already suspecting something, we should just rip the band-aid off.” They stated, “It can’t be worse than Batman catching us making out in a private room at the Watch-Tower.”

You laughed, “Maybe not… but never underestimate them.”

“You know your brothers love you. They’re protective not controlling, just like your dad, your sister, and even the butler… I think I have more to be nervous about when we tell them about us.”

“You know them, you’ve known my family for years… You never had anything to be worried about.”

Before they could respond, you hear some recognizable voices in the background. You know this call lasted longer than it should have…

“Just think about it, cause I’m ready when you’re ready.”

“I think I’m ready… I’m just anxious about it,”

“Don’t overthink it. Everything will be fine.”

“I know… I know.”

“Okay, Talk to you later.”

“I love you.”

“I love you too.” you say before ending the phone call.

The 5 brothers were gathered in one of the Manor’s lounge room.

The room where they found out about their sister’s relationship.

Duke scheduled a “Brothers’ Meeting” when all five boys would be at home because of his conversation with you about your paranoia.

There were some things needed to be addressed.

Duke stood at the front of the room, just a few feet away from the long couch the other four boys were comfortably sat on.

“None of you followed Alfred’s orders?!” Duke asks with crossed arms, “Because when I talked to our sister the other day, all of you have been acting strange around her and she’s getting paranoid.”

“You’re the one who’s being paranoid.” Jason teased.

Dick answers, “We haven’t been acting strange at all.”

“Agree to disagree because based on what she told me; You and Jason won’t give her space when you’re at the manor, Tim is stalking her, and Damian tried to steal her phone twice—”

Damian interrupts, “It was actually three attempts.”

“And I’m not stalking her…” Tim defensively says.

Jason pointed at him, “You created a spreadsheet with the data you collected from her hang-outs over the past 6 months!”

“At least I’ve been able to narrow down the possible candidates of the relationship.” Tim argued. “You keep thinking that the music she listens too will give you some sort of clue!”

He exclaims, “She has a music playlist titled with a heart emoji and filled with love songs; I think the color heart is a hint to who, we have a lot of friends associated with different colors.”

“The heart emoji is pink… that’s a symbol of love.” Dick says.

Tim shouted. “Who cares about the emoji!”

“I can’t believe our sister is in love.” Jason admits.

Damian scoffs, “I can not believe our sister is in love with one of your friends.”

“If y’all don’t stop being weird soon… she’s going to tell Bruce, and we all know he will quickly figure out what’s going on.” Duke stated.

“Dad will figure out what?!” You innocently asked, walking into the lounge room, only having heard the second part of the sentence.

Your presence caught them by surprise.

How could they have not heard your footsteps?

They panicked to give you an answer.

“Figure out nothing!” Duke laughed, “Nothing for him to know.”

“We’re just having some good brother bonding time!” Tim exclaims, wraps his arms around Jason and Damian, who were sat next to him.

“He’s lying.” Jason stated, then pointed to the youngest Wayne. “Damian tried to drive the BatMobile… again.”

“Excuse you, Todd!” Damian exclaims, “That did not happen… yet.”

“If it does happen, We’ll handle it before Bruce finds out..” Dick calmly stated, before a fight could start between the brothers,“But, Like Tim said… We’re just all hanging out in here.”

Duke spoke, “You’re welcome to join us if you like!”

“Actually, I came in here because there’s something I’ve been needing to tell all of you for some time…” You nervously said.

In less than a second, all their focus is on you.

Dick’s right leg is bounding, Jason leaned back against the sofa.

Tim is fidgeting with his necklace, Damian is locked in place.

Duke is standing as normally as he could be.

You take a deep breathe.

With a nervous smile on your face and your fast-beating heart.

You make the announcement.

“I’m in a relationship… My partner and I been together for a few months but, now that that it’s the right time to tell everyone.”

There’s a pause, your heart skipped a beat, then came the reactions.

“Wow! A relationship! That’s great!” Dick exclaims.

Jason clapped his hands together. “What a surprise!“

“We didn’t have any idea about this!” Tim stated.

“We’re happy for you.” Duke truthfully says.

Damian spoke, “Congratulations Sister.”

You give them all a smile.

“We planned to tell you together, this weekend actually… But there was a change in plans and they couldn’t make it to Gotham.”

When the boys communicated with each other using their eyes; your suspicions of something going on between them was confirmed.

And you would not spend another day with a paranoid feeling.

“Is something going on?” you asked.

There no was quick response.

The brothers broke their stares with each other to look at you…

Damian clears his throat before speaking, “Dear sister, all of us knew of your relationship for weeks because Thomas overheard a phone call between you and your partner. So this is not new information.”

Duke gasped at the betrayal as the others brothers couldn’t help themselves to not laugh, “Why did you throw me under the bus?!”

“You attempted to throw ME under the bus!” Damian shouted.

“That wasn’t me! That was Jason!” Duke defensively argued.

“If you had not lied, Todd would not have had to lie.” he stated.

“I only came up with a lie because the brother bonding lie was too suspicious.” Jason said.

“How was it too suspicious?!” Tim questioned.

Dick admits with a shrug, “I thought it was a good lie.”

“It was a good lie…” You tell, “But all of you can’t lie to me to save your lives… so, I had a feeling that something was going on.”

All hell broke loose.

The other brothers tried to argue that they weren’t acting suspicious.

Dick and Jason insists they weren’t trying to get personal information from your conversations, but instead that they were trying to bond with their little sister.

Tim tried explaining that his spreadsheet was for a research project and not that he was stalking you to figure something out.

Damian claimed that your phone was evidence for the mission case. (The Case of the Mysterious Miss or Mr).

“The only one who wasn’t suspicious was Duke!” You exclaimed.

“Thank you! Wait… that’s a good thing right?”

“Yes Duke… but you’re not off the—”

Duke interrupts, “We knew that you are in a relationship, but we don’t who you’re dating.”

There was a silent pause with the sudden realization.

“All of you knew I’m in a relationship… but you didn’t know who?” You suspiciously questioned. 

Your brothers look at each other and then nodded.

“We suspected it’s one of our friends from the League based on Tim’s spreadsheet.” Jason replied.

Tim stated. “There’s a few possibly candidates.”

You admit, “You aren’t wrong about it being one of our friends..”

All eyes were on you now.

The weight of anxiety from overthinking this moment for months.

The fear in your mind of what is going to change moving forward.

Your heart was beating out of your chest.

This relationship will no longer be your little secret.

It was a scary feeling but, at the same time, freeing feeling.

Knowing there was one question your brothers needed answered…

It doesn’t matter how the love feels; with your mind filled with poison and your heart weighted by doubt… it was never enough.

It was always your dream to be something more…

With your father as an inspiration of the city during the day and a savior of the city during the night… It was difficult trying to live up to the high expectations that was placed onto you.

You got straight A’s every semester at Gotham Academy, displayed incredible manners at the Wayne’s Charity Galas, and impress the judges to win first place at your figure skating competitions that receive public praise in the newspapers.

And that was enough… it was good enough to be a Wayne.

You excelled at martial arts under the guidance of Black Canary, learned every hacking and programming skill from Oracle, and won against all the odds in your simulation training test that impressed The Justice League.

But it wasn’t enough… It was never enough to be a Robin.

The chance of being Robin seemed to only exist in dreams.

Every kid in Gotham wished they could be Robin because being Robin meant that Batman believed in them.

He believed in Dick. He believed in Jason. He believed in Tim.

You wanted to be Robin because being Robin meant that your father believed in you.

There was nothing your father could’ve said that would’ve changed his mind. There was nothing your father could’ve done that would’ve changed his mind.

If his biological father said that Tim had to retire from being Robin, then the only right thing for Bruce to do is agree to the decision.

But Batman needed a Robin… and who made up the rule that only a boy could be awarded the role.

“I’m ready to be Robin.”

“You’re not ready.”

“I’ve been training for 4 years!”

“And you can continue your training.”

“I can continue training and be Robin?!”

“No.”

“You told me that I would have my chance one day.”

“I know.”

“Will there ever be another opportunity like this again?!”

“I don’t know.”

“You let me dream of being Robin.”

“Princess it’s just that-”

“I’ve learned everything that I needed to know from the best of the best in the business. Everyone in my training classes has been given a chance out on missions and patrol except for me. You won’t even let me take over the role of Batgirl… Dad Please-”

Your father sighed as he leaned back in the office chair with crossed arms, “You know I’ve never wanted you to be apart of this. Your training was a precautious action so that you would learn to protect yourself… Not to become a sidekick.”

“Whether you like it or not I’m apart of it— I’ve been apart of it for years.”

“…I know.”

“You’re very lucky that I’ve been patiently waiting for chance instead of running off to do it on my own.”

Every time you wore the red and green feminine version of your brothers’ suits; you felt like an imposter, not Batman’s sidekick.

It didn’t help that the world around you treated you that way.

Since the first sighting of the new female Robin in Gotham; your name was mocked by villains, your actions were criticized by citizens, and your choices were judged by heroes.

The villains called you “Robinette”, because you never earned the amount of respect from them to be called Robin.

The citizens compared you to the other Robins, saying that you couldn’t keep up the expectations of the male Robins.

The heroes thought you were making too many mistakes, they didn’t think you were prepared to handle the role of Robin.

You didn’t give up. You couldn’t give up. You weren’t allowed too… because giving up would mean giving into their truths.

But the universe had other plans…

After a mission had gone so terribly wrong because of one mistake that you made… A mistake you didn’t realize you made until it was too late to fix it, because it almost sent you 6 feet underground.

One final decision was made; your time as Robin was done.

Tim was coming out of his forced retirement, even if the mistakes on your last mission didn’t happen… You always knew in the back of your mind the role would have no longer yours if he returned.

“It’s nothing personal… It’s just the right decision for now.”

“Doesn’t mean that it doesn’t hurt any less…”

“I know Princess.”

“Dad… you don’t know.”

“You’ll get the chance again one day.”

“Doesn’t mean I deserve it.”

“You deserve to dream the big dreams.”

There was nothing more for you to say, there was nothing more for you to have done… There was nothing that was going to change your father’s mind from his decision for you to quit.

You had big dreams till you tied yourself to the role of Robin.

It had been a long day as a Wayne… and a longer night as Magnolia.

Before the sun could set in the west; there was an bank robbery which then turned into a hostage situation… It didn’t take long for the failed attempt at robbing the bank to turn in a media circus.

There was no chance to overthink any decisions. There was no time to catch a breathe. There was not a millisecond to waste.

It was an all bats on deck situation; with everyone having their roles to make sure this was handled as smoothly as possible.

“Oracle, bypass through all restrictions to the surrounding cameras to have an aerial view of the outside crowd.”

“Red Robin, get quick access into bank’s security system.”

“Nightwing, Signal, and Spoiler keep the crowd controlled.”

“Batgirl and Red Hood keep watch of all outside activity from a distance… only interfere when the code is spoken.”

“Robin and I will dealing with criminals’ negotiations alongside Gordon and the rest of the police department.”

“And Magnolia… be careful.”

In exchange for the safety of a little girl, the only child amongst the hostages; the criminals made a deal with the police to allow one of the Bat-Family members to become one of the hostages.

Before anything else could be said, you accepted the offer; No child should have to suffer through the actions of criminals.

“I wasn’t scared, cause I knew Magnolia would rescue me.” were spoken by the little girl to the news reporter at the scene.

When you walked inside the bank, the atmosphere was tense…

Due to their negotiation rules, you were forced to enter the bank with empty hands… Your steel combat fans and all the gadgets from your utility belt were taken out of your possession.

The hostages were all women who are hard-working employees or loyal customers, terrified for their lives being controlled of the decisions made by two criminals and the police.

The only thing you could have is the will of patience…

You held their hands with a tight grip to ground them.

You counted their breathes to calm the anxiety in their chest.

You made a promise to keep them safe.

With kind eyes and a sweet smile as your poker face for the criminals while secretly listened for updates on the situation in your ear piece.

Time seemed to have moved slowly in the bank than for the crowd… But after hours, the criminals got ambushed with your spoken code.

The criminals called you a bitch for spoiling their plans.

The hostages praised you as their anchor for keeping them safe.

The media labeled you to be the hero of the operation.

Anyone else on the team would have done the same thing in your position inside of the bank… You didn’t believe that you did something extraordinary for the city, you were just doing your job.

There was no time for a debrief of the team’s work on the scene, there was the rest of the city to care for while the moon was high.

Over the years, you’d perfected your patrol routine around the Uptown Side of the city, so that you’ll have chance to take a breath…

There was no such thing as a peaceful night in Gotham.

The screams are white noise and the police sirens are a lullaby.

The blood is the bedtime story and the deaths are the dreams.

However, on the rooftop of the tallest buildings; with the moonlight shining over the dark city as the wind breezes through your hair.

You find what feels like peace.

“Father told everyone to be at the Bat-Cave by sunrise.”

Until that peace is interrupted by a familiar voice…

“The moon hasn’t began to set yet.”

When there was no response, you turn to look back and smiled, “Fancy seeing you here Robin.”

“Magnolia.”

“Come sit” as you patted the spot next to you.

“I am not here to join you.”

“I know you didn’t follow me here without a reason.”

“I did not follow you here… I know your patrol routine.”

“Of course you do.” you murmured.

His eyes studied the scene in front of him; one wrong move and you’ll be falling to your death.

“This is careless behavior.”

“Admiring the night-time atmosphere is not careless behavior.”

He rolls his eyes and you snapped your fingers at him, “Don’t roll your eyes at me!”

“Sitting close to the edge of an almost 1,000 feet tall building is careless behavior!”

There’s not point of trying to start an argument, you’ll never win.

“If I scooted back… would you sit with me?” you questioned.

Damian gave you a quick nod as his response; then let you know when you’ve scooted back far enough for the edge of the rooftop.

As a force of habit, you immediately wrapped an arm around him and pulled him closer as soon as he sat down next to you.

The weight of being Robin was lifted off his shoulders with every deep breath he took with his head rested against your shoulders.

It didn’t feel like the two of you were in Gotham, but in your own world high up above the city and away from the crimes.

For a few minutes, no words spoken in between the silence.

A few years ago, when Damian joined the family; The two of you did not get along, so you never could’ve imagined moments like this.

You’ve become a safe space for him, but that came at the cost of him being even more worried for your safety (not that he doesn’t worry for anyone else.)

The farther away he has been from the League Of Shadows, the closer he’s been to feeling more human.

You could tell something was on his mind, something more than just being worried about your careless behavior on the rooftops… Usually he doesn’t step out of his routines but, instead waits to be at the Manor to check up on you after a long night of patrol.

“You scared me tonight Sister.” He whispered.

“I was doing my job.”

Damian looked towards you with a scowl, “Your job? You accepted the offer to be a hostage without thinking… You had nothing but your fists to defend yourself if things were to have escalated inside.”

“I’m trained to fight with or without my weapons and gadgets.”

“You willingly put yourself at risk!”

“You know what was riskier?” you questioned. “A little girl, the only child that was inside of the bank. She would’ve been their first victim if the situation were to had escalate any further.”

“It should have been talked about as a team.”

“All of us have trained for years to be prepared for these situations… If I didn’t accept the offer, you know someone else would have.”

“But it does not mean that you had to accept it.”

You sighed, “You know why I had to accept it.”

“To prove yourself as Magnolia because you failed as a Robin.”

Words were shouted with the tone of venom but tasted as the truth.

He couldn’t look you in the eyes anymore, his face turning away to look out towards the city, “I do not think you did the wrong thing, I know you did the right thing. But sometimes you make selfish decisions and never realize the impact it can have on us.”

You placed your hands on his shoulders to turn his body to you, “No matter the mission; there will always be hard decisions to make with our roles as people’s heroes…. even if they’re selfish decisions.”

“You are the people’s favorite hero tonight.”

Your father’s voice from behind caused you to jump, place your hand on your chest to calm your fast beating heart as you turn around.

“How long had you been standing there?” you asked.

“One minute and twenty-eight seconds.” your brother answers.

“Did you follow him here?”

“I followed you here… I wanted to check up on you before going to the Bat-Cave, but I guess one of your brothers had the same idea.”

“Great minds think alike Father.”

“I just needed some time to myself before heading back to the cave… To prepare to be criticized about my selfish decisions.”

“Just because it was a selfish decision doesn’t mean it was the wrong decision.” your father said. “Would it had been wiser to discuss the negotiation before making the deal with the criminals? Of course, but we didn’t all of the time in the world.”

“Do my decisions… my selfish decisions impact the team?”

“Every decision, good or bad, has an impact on the mission. It’s how the team handles the impact of the decision.”

Damian says, “The hostages needed someone… and you made the selfish, but right decision for it to be you.”

“Because of what you did for them… You are their favorite hero.”

“I was doing my job.” you stated. “Everyone was doing their job.”

“All of us were doing our job… but you did the most important job.”

A questioned expression on your face appeared, “How was my job the most important job?”

“From the moment we arrived to the scene you cared about the victims, without hesitation you gave up your safety on the outside for the only child stuck inside. Then during those long hours, even without your weapons and gadgets, you were able to be someone the women inside the bank could trust to protect them.” Your father explains, “The people aren’t going to remember Batman and Robin helping the police with negotiations or the heroes controlling the outside crowd. They’re going to remember Magnolia exchanging her safety with the only child and being the protector of the women inside of the bank. You were the people’s favorite hero tonight and you may be their favorite hero forever.”

You wanted to believe the truth in your father’s words; but your mind was full of poison and your heart was weighted by doubt.

“But was it enough?” you whispered. “Enough to be called a hero?”

Your father pulled back his hooded cowl and crouched down; his tired eyes and a sad smile were now directly in your line of vision.

“We don’t always feel good enough to be considered a hero.” he softly spoke. “Being hero isn’t just about the big fights in the middle of the city that make tomorrow’s headlines news but instead to just be a visual promise of their safety throughout the noise… and sometimes, that’s just enough to be a hero.”

“You were good enough tonight Sister.” Damian whispers, reaching over to give your hand a tight but comforting squeeze.

“Their misogynistic criticism of your time as Robin has never and will never hold any weight to your role now as Magnolia.”

As the moon was beginning to set, You didn’t fully believe the words your father had spoken but maybe one day could believe it.

It wouldn’t be long before the rest of your family would start their search for the three of you… but that wasn’t a priority in your mind.

Just a moment in time for a father, one of his daughters, and one of his sons enjoying what feels like a sense of peace in Gotham City.

And maybe, that was just good enough for now.

Hi I love your Magnolia fic!! can you please do one going more into Bruce’s relationship with her mother and the reader’s relationship with Bruce over the years :)

i tried to leave the relationship between Bruce and the reader’s mother as vague as possible cause i don’t know how serious their relationship was (and i don’t know who she is)… but it is definitely something i would love to explore in the future!

and i already have so many ideas for another headcanon that focuses on Bruce raising her as the years go by so i’m happy to know it’s something people want to read!

this original character is “written” into the DC Universe inspired by the source material across multiple official sources including Comics, Movies, and, Television Shows.

these are general headcanons of my original character and their background information. any future fanfictions written about the character will be written more as self-insert and not as x OC.

The daughter that made Gotham’s Favorite Billionaire, Bruce Wayne, a father just about two years after his return to the city.

It was one of the rare nights that Batman was not out in the city due to the midnight thunderstorm, but still had work to be done in his office… and couldn’t have been more surprised when his butler appeared at the doorway telling him there was something at the Manor’s entrance he needed to see.

Nothing could’ve prepared him to have seen a cardboard box with a sleeping baby swaddled in a floral blanket with a stuffed plushie and an envelope.

He spent all night looking through the outside security footage, watching an anonymous woman deliver the baby to the front entrance of the Wayne Manor… With the letter that he read in the back of his mind as he ran the DNA tests; the results concluded that Bruce Wayne is the father to baby girl.

The day Gotham’s citizens found out that Bruce Wayne had a baby girl was celebrated as if the Royal Family gave birth to the new heir… There was a petition to make it an official holiday in Gotham and the first public photos of the billionaire holding his daughter were spread across every newspapers and magazines across the country.

Wayne Enterprises had to make an official statement that there would be legal consequences towards anyone who spread any information about the baby girl’s identity because while Bruce Wayne is a public figure, his daughter is not.

He almost gave up being Batman multiple times throughout the baby stage and the toddler phase, but realized his daughter gave him a new purpose to the role… He wanted Gotham to become a better place for you to live in.

After accidentally discovering one of the Batcave’s secret entrances in the manor, you were trusted with the big family secret… until at your preschool graduation, you told the crowd you wanted to grow up to be “like my daddy, Batman” (The parents and teachers laughed at your “imagination” while Alfred had not stop Bruce from having a panic attack in the audience).

When you were growing up, it was hard for you to balance being the daughter of Gotham’s favorite billionaire and the daughter of Batman… but luckily, you didn’t have to face that challenge alone with your family by your side.

One of your first official public outings was when the Haly’s Circus travelled to Gotham and one week later, you were being introduced to your new brother… Dick has always taken his role as your older brother very seriously, always promising to be there for you (and making it up to you when he’s not there).

From the moment you met Jason, he was very protective over you because he grew up on the streets of Gotham. He was the one to convince Bruce to start training you, not to become a vigilante but to have the skills to protect yourself… His death broke you into a million pieces and it took years for the wounds to heal (only for the wounds to be reopened when you found out he came back to life a few years later).

Your first impression of Tim was him telling your older brother that he knew the big family secret… for some time you thought Tim was just another rich kid with an obsession with Batman and Robin, but the longer he stayed at the Wayne Manor the more he perfectly fitted into the family.

Cassandra knows you better than you could know yourself (while it’s probably because of her ability to read body language, you like to say it’s just because she’s your sister)… The two of you are almost always by each other’s side whether it’s during a meeting in the Batcave, lounging in one of the living rooms, or at the Wayne’s Charity Galas.

If the biggest surprise of your life was your father being Batman, then the second biggest surprise was finding out you had a biological half-brother that was kept a secret for 10 years… For a while, you and Damian did not get along. You declared him to be your greatest enemy and he declared you a threat to the Wayne Heir; but after one rough night in Gotham, the two of you made amends and now are each other’s biggest supporters.

It took some time for Duke to adjust to his new lifestyle after moving into the Wayne Manor; but once he was settled in, you were two peas in a pod… you taught him everything he needed to know in order to survive “being a Wayne” and he taught you there’s more to life beyond the gates of the manor.

You’ve lost count of how many times Barbara Gordon has been there for you when you were growing up as a young girl in Gotham… She watched you grow up from being Dick’s lovingly annoying little sister to being an inspiration to young girls. You give her credit for being one of the reasons why you’re the woman you’ve become today.

Stephanie Brown has been by your side through the best times and the worse times… You don’t know how you lived a life without her and plan to spend the rest of your life with her one way or another (the two of you made a promise that if you’re both single by 40, you’ll marry each other).

You consider most of the Justice League members to be your family who loves to spoil you rotten; being the daughter of a billionaire and a superhero definitely has it’s privileges, but Bruce raised you to never let it get to your head (when you were younger, it did get your head and you needed to be humbled by the people you love).

One of Bruce’s favorite memories is when he brought you to the Watch Tower to meet The Justice League for the first time and seeing his little princess so starstruck at the sight of your favorite heroes. (you weren’t even this starstruck when you met Tinkerbell at DisneyLand).

Just because your older brother formed his own superhero team, doesn’t mean he was able to get out of babysitting duty… Dick knew the days you were staying at the Titans Tower were going to be the days where the team gets nothing productive done cause they’ll be too busy keeping you entertained.

Every Batfamily member needs their Super Friend; while you’re good friends with the all of the Amazons, Kryptonians, and even the Flashes… you’re Super Friend is WonderGirl but you’ve also teamed up with SuperGirl and can always count on Impluse for fast travels (when the Zeta-Tubes are out of order).

Even though you had started training at 11 years old, Bruce had no plans for you to be out on the field (especially after what happened to Jason and Barbara)… but he finally gave you the chance to prove yourself as Robin at 15 years old when Tim was forced to retire from the mantle.

Some citizens, superheroes, and villains refused to view you as a real Robin so they would call you “Robinette” as a way to mock you… the Gotham Gazette voted you to be the worse Robin with the reason that you were causing more trouble than help and that you couldn’t compare to the male Robins.

After a near death experience, you were forced to step down from your role as Robin (which lasted 7 months) as Tim planned on returning to the role… and you were left heartbroken that your dream came to end before you had a chance.

Your relationship with your father was different for few months after your time as Robin because you felt like the biggest disappointment to him… It took many family meetings for you open up your feeling and to understand that you would be given a second chance on the field when the time was right.

Barbara, Cassandra, and Stephanie offered the role of Batgirl to you but, you didn’t think you deserved the role after feeling like you ruined the Robin Mantle (Dick had to have multiple conversations with you that you didn’t ruin the mantle).

Your father told you there was more to being a vigilante than just wanting to prove that you could do it, he encouraged you to find that purpose.

The family calls this time of your life your “spoiled princess” phase… It was the longest 3 years of their lives.

Even though you still attended the mission meetings and helped out at the Batcave during their patrol; you started to distance yourself from the vigilante lifestyle to focus on other things that became important to you during your last few years of high school.

You found your purpose when visiting the Gotham Academy’s library where the 5th grade class were presenting their Gotham History Projects and a young girl did her project on “The First (and Only) Female Robin” and told the story about how she (you) were there to save her and her mother when Batman was busy taking care of business on the other side of Gotham, disobeying his orders to do what felt right.

It was a few years before you decided to get back into the vigilante life… while you tried to keep it a secret at first, it didn’t take long for your family to connect the dots and for the citizens of Gotham to talk about the new vigilante.

Patrol was difference from when you were Robin… now you knew your father trusted your decisions. You were no longer the little girl who needed to always hold his hand (but his hand was open if you needed it to hold).

Just like your father and your brothers, you started your own superhero team alongside Arrowette and Wondergirl (while being mentored by Black Canary) but, the three of you team up with the Young Justice Team as well.

You chosen the alias name “Magnolia” because it had always been your favorite flower that symbolizes beauty and resilience… which perfectly describes you.

Your father couldn’t be more proud of the young woman that you have grown to be… and maybe he thinks you’re old enough to read the letter in the envelope from your mother.
