Thinking about the chess set George got commissioned where the pieces were based on ringo’s hands again,,,,
PETER BROWN: Paul will talk endless hours [laughs] without even mentioning George or Ringo.
Interviewed Fall 1980 for All you need is love: The Beatles in their own words by Brown and Gaines
Help! 1965
did Paul really name his kittens Pyramus and Thisbe... its gotten to a point where I don't know if its real, but if it is, that is so crazy to me
Yes, he did! What seems to be a myth, though, is the idea that John and Paul gifted the kittens to each other. I have found no source for that. But yes, Paul did actually mention in a 1999 interview that he once had two cats he named Pyramus and Thisbe:
Q: Tell us about some of the animals you’ve had over the years. Paul: Oh, I’d love to tell you about the animals. I personally never had a pet growing up, because my mom and dad both worked. And even the day we saw free puppies going and my brother and I thought, “Definite, we’ll get one,” we couldn’t have one. So my first pet was when I was living alone as one of the Beatles and I got an Old English sheepdog called Martha, and I loved her dearly, she was beautiful, she was really good for me; we were good for each other. I remember John Lennon coming ’round and saying, “God, I’ve never seen you with an animal before.” I was being so affectionate it took him aback, he’d not seen that side of my character. Because you don’t do that with humans-not as obviously anyway. And then I had two cats called Pyramus and Thisbe, which showed my literate bent, and then I had three-they all had to be cool names, of course-that were called Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. And then as a family, Linda and I, after Martha died, we then got another Old English sheepdog and we eventually had a litter by the one after her. We kept two of the puppies, so that meant we’ve got three now. I have four dogs at home, three English sheepdogs and Stella’s dog, the mutt. She’d hate me to say that!
Thisbe is also mentioned in Many Years From Now:
"Martha spent a lot of her time snuffling after Thisbe the cat. In Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, a group of Athenian workmen - the 'mechanicals' - led by Bottom the weaver, attempt to stage a play called Pyramus and Thisbe. The Beatles performed a short extract from this play within a play for the Jack Good TV show Around the Beatles in May 1964. John played Thisbe, Paul played Pyramus, George was Moonshine and Ringo appeared as Lion. Thisbe was to feature in a number of Paul's home movies, peering round doors and jumping down steps; she was soon joined by three more of her kind."
Beatles Biopics as Written by Tumblr: Paul's Film
Beginning with the breakup of the Beatles and focusing in on the 1970s when Paul was running on that sweet, uncut Sad.
September 20, 1969: John tells Paul he's quitting The Beatles. As John beats him over the head and shoulders with a large stick, Paul apologizes profusely and asks John to please reconsider. In retaliation for this, John murders him, to raucous applause.
April 10, 1970: Paul announces his departure from The Beatles, is publicly beaten, and then fired out of a cannon.
April 11, 1970: John tells The Media that Paul McCartney is the greatest fiend to ever walk the earth.
April 12, 1970: Paul releases a statement to the effect that John's comments seem a bit harsh, but his dear friend is entitled to his opinion. In retaliation for this, John murders him, to raucous applause.
A montage set to How Do You Sleep (released Sept 1971) begins. We see Paul sinking into depression and self-isolation, all his selfless overtures to John cruelly rejected. Every time he leaves the house someone throws a tomato at him, and when he tries to sleep he sees only John's laughing face. He bravely soldiers on, taking solace in music and family and nature and his own innate goodness, and briefly in vast quantities of liquor, but luckily the love of his wife quickly cures his alcoholism.
May 17, 1971: Paul releases RAM, considered by modern critics to be the greatest record of all time and the birth of the genre that would come to be known as "Good Music." In retaliation for this, The Media murders him, to raucous applause.
September 13, 1971: Paul adds another child, Stella, to the pack of abandoned and unloved children he has chosen to shelter on his farm. The pack began with his adopted son, Julian Lennon, who had contact with Paul no more than two years ago. Like most fathers, Paul will see him again in at most a couple of decades.
A montage begins, and Family Man Paul sets his life to rights to the delicate poignancy of Blackbird. The world still despises him, but he no longer cares, not when he's Family Man Paul. John publicly admits he was wrong to abuse Paul so cruelly, and Family Man Paul smiles and shakes his head. Oh, John.
December 9, 1980: Paul receives a phone call. We hear only his end of the conversation:
person who wears pads: i prefer wearing pads person who wears tampons: how can you walk around all day wearing a wet diaper full of blood that's so gross i could never! paul mccartney: john lennon wasn’t gay because if he wanted to have sex with men he would’ve had sex with me
The more I read quotes that are basically like, “John and Paul loved each other more than anything. Their bond was deeper than anything they had before or ever would again. But like… they weren’t gay or anything,” the more frustrated I get with biographers who acknowledge how unusually intimate their relationship was yet refuse to even consider the possibility that romantic feelings could have been involved in some form.
it's been one of those of weeks... park that car drop that phone sleep on the floor dream about me!
Happy Birthday, Ringo Starr (b. 7th July 1940)
No one ever made Paul laugh more than John, and right here at Christmastime came an incident he would always tell with great fondness. After leaving Forthlin Road late one night without his glasses, John told Paul he saw on Mather Avenue “some mad people sitting in their front porch playing cards at one o’clock in the bloody morning.” What?! The next time Paul went past he looked for himself, and it was an illuminate nativity scene. Cue hysterics. — Tune In: The Beatles - All These Years, Vol. 1 by Mark Lewisohn
The Boys of Dungeon Lane
The central thesis of each song according to me:
As You Lie There I was an obsessive young man, and I'm an obsessive old man. If I fall for you I want you to obsess about me too.
Lost Horizon We live in time we lose people and things that meant a lot to us. Knowing that ought to shape what we do.
Days We Left Behind I'm feeling a lot better about a lot of things, but it's been a hard road getting here.
Ripples in a Pond I can't quite give full vent in public (possibly also in private) to my insecurities but I'm really glad you're here Nancy.
Mountain Top It can be really nice and fun to do mind altering drugs together.
Down South What I had with George before I met John was real and important. I love you George.
We Two I miss you John. Down South has me all in my feelings about poetry.
Come Inside I've already said I'm not going to say the secrets out loud, and that you should listen to my music. Listen!
Never Know I miss you John. I miss being your number one. And despite my previous protestations on this album I'm still never completely certain what I meant to you.
Home to Us When I speak positively about Liverpool, it doesn't mean it wasn't hard. And when Ringo speaks negatively about Liverpool, it doesn't mean it wasn't his home.
Life Can Be Hard Life can be hard. But I don't like to think about that. And honestly that approach has served me pretty well.
First Star of the Night Linda's spirit watches over our family and gives me a lot of comfort. I'm sad she's gone.
Salesman Saint The past weaves into the future. I forgive my Dad for some things I don't want to think about, but I can't think of anything I need to forgive my Mum for.
Momma Gets By The similarities between my mother's death and Linda's death still disturb me. The shit they put up with is honestly pretty upsetting. But I know, in a way that can only be conveyed in music, what it is to love someone that way.
In honour of 65 years, a mini audio compilation of John and Paul describing that fateful day.
We met, we met…
69 years of mclennon
John: “It’s a groove, growing older. I’m looking forward to it, when I’m, say, 67, and they’ll have me on the Eamonn Andrews Show. ‘—AND HERE HE IS, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, CARRYING THE VERY GUITAR HE PLAYED ON STAGE AT THE WORLD-FAMOUS CAVERN IN LIVERPOOL: JOHN LENNON.’” Paul: “And then you’ll play ‘She Loves You?’” John: “Yeah — what a groove!”
(Disc And Music Echo, interview with Ray Coleman, December 16, 1967)
they haven't even met yet (not officially, obviously most likely they'd had sex on a bus that time, but they don't talk about it so it's impolite to assume)
they're both still in the early times with the strange sense of impending fate but no idea what it means
in just a bit John will pull out his "promise darling you'll never leave me" check shirt, and Paul will put on his "I'll climb all the stairs for you every day until I finally reach you baby" blazer and they'll wend their way to the future
💗 L is for love me.
(love me more)
Copying my tags here too cause i have more to say.
Fuckkk like you're john lennon and you've managed to make history's first femboy obsessed with you, despite having a lot of weird hang-ups about being gay, and also basic intimacy, but especially being gay. But you're putting the moves on regardless (read: engaging in homoerotic rivalry best friend pseudo yaoi) and its been working for the past couple of years, but due to circumstances under your control (but also the mental problems you definitely have) you start to pull away from him due to your reliance on LSD, and general apathathy mixed with unresolved anger issues. And then fucking Groovy Bob swoops in with his hat at a jaunty angle and wearing like 3 ties and now HE'S putting the moves on YOUR repressed twunk. And because his mental problems are less pressing and he's notoriously homosexual, his moves are all stuff like "taking him to dinner" and "having sex with him" instead of playing mindgames in which you make him fight for your affection. FUCK how could you compete with this guy
