does anyone remember when being in a fandom was cringe? like, you were a “brony” or a “potterhead?” actually being a brony is the manliest thing you can do because why are you afraid to say you like a show that tells you to be happy and joyful. or to be whimsical and love your friends. but you also have like modern fandoms. booktok. back then it was like a fandom for the book, like warrior cats. now it’s just you both like reading and here’s what’s trending at target and bam and got approved by the algorithm. that or it’s “dark romance” which doesn’t need to be talked about it’s a big old pandora’s box of worms. and like booktok itself is conceptually flawed because how are you in the “book fandom” that’s like being in the “music fandom” notwithstanding you like taylor swift and your friend listens to Green Day or b182.
