♕;. Playing ‘the waiting game’ was never Izaya’s favorite thing to do — especially when it came to his latest ” muse “. A blonde, 20 years old, clinically depressed; a poor girl who had blindly stumbled into Izaya’s iron sights. However the longer he waits there, balanced on the back of the park bench scanning the ‘park goers’, the more Izaya thinks she won’t show up.
It’s a pity, really — but he isn’t disappointed; it’s what he expected from her.
Either way, he’d been standing around long enough; his hands were getting cold, and that didn’t do him any good — so, with a childish huff, he hops down from his little perch and takes to the park path.*
A rare sight: Linda was in a rotten mood. He blew warm air into his hands, savoring the mild relief. It was a real drain on the quality of his show when his fingers were too numb to play guitar, to say nothing of the sharp chill ripping through his thin denim jacket.
He was resorting to taking frequent breaks to warm himself. In the midst of his current one, he contemplated forgoing accompaniment altogether, although there wasn’t much razzle dazzle in a cappella. He also briefly considered moving away from the park fountain. Running water + wind was not helping anything.
Jolted from his reverie when someone stepped in front if him, Linda slapped on a grin, ↑↓ — “Just a quick break, I’ll be back at it in a few if you wanna stick around~”
♕;. Ah, yes -- it seemed Lady Luck was smiling down upon him today! If Izaya wasn't mistaken, that bright ball of low energy mere steps away was somebody very very important; it would be a shame if he skipped out on such a golden opportunity, wouldn't it?
Hands pocketed, the informant slows his pace as he closes in on his target, eventually coming to a full stop in front of the blond. His brows raise when Linda speaks, head canting to the side as he studies the youth's features.*

♕;. Izaya knows damn well who the false-idol was -- it was hard not to -- yet he chooses to feign ignorance. His desire to get close to that little light and burn it out required Izaya to start at square one -- so that's where he'll go.
Instead of waiting for a response, Izaya offers a hand out for Linda to shake -- a slow smile breaking out across his features.*

And, enduring the pain through his whole body, he slowly stood. “I came to exterminate a monster.” What brought back his strength was perhaps sheer will; the power of his love towards humanity. However, of the humans he loved, no one face appeared in his mind. Not the parents that had raised him. Not the sisters who idolised him. Not the face of the woman with the brother complex, who he had employed as his secretary. Not the face of his eccentric friend, the first to have seen through him to his true nature. Not the faces of those he had ruined, filled with despair. Not the faces of the gullible ones he had helped, now and then, on one whim or another. Not the faces of the youths who were, at this moment, on the boundary between destruction and their everyday lives. No one person appeared in his mind. And even so, he continued loving humanity. I love how he says that with a look of utmost irritation on his face, looking like a migraine is starting to seize him even though Shizuo hadn’t come into direct contact with him.
We tend to think that Izaya puts up all these cheerful faces and gets off on pissing Shizuo off by setting him up and such, but it’s almost as if karma bites him in the ass seeing as he winds up irritated that Shizuo either (a) screws up his plans, or (b) is living a life happier and more peaceful than what Izaya is willing to sanction for him.
people in the drrr!! fandom really don’t give enough credit to just how many times izaya is pictured as irritated/annoyed, even if only for a second. yes, he is obviously skilled at hiding whatever he is feeling, but there are many times when his expression falters. punching the telephone pole for one. not to mention these moments when shizuo comes up in conversation, the light novel illustration of him sitting on the couch, his smile faltering for a moment in the anime while talking about the love between shinra and celty, etc.
i can’t help but those moments where the humanity he so desperately tries to deny in himself show through and i think that’s what truly makes his character multidimensional

If we roleplay:
1. Don’t apologize for being late/slow with replies.
2. Take all of the time you need. Days, weeks, months, doesn’t matter. Don’t put yourself under stress because of such pointless things.
3. Your personal life out of character along with your health are the most important. If you drop a thread/conversation/whatever, it’s alright. Just stay safe and take care.
