A signal like this becomes a thing when enough people know about it. Don’t just spread it on social media - share it with people you know who don’t use social media (especially the Boomers in your life)

For this to work in more cases it depends on the average person knowing it and knowing how to help.

Speaking of which, the video makes it seem like you immediately call emergency services, which is not what’s recommended by the Canadian Women’s Foundation that created and promoted the signal.

In some cases that may be the answer, such as if the person is being taken somewhere or has an obvious injury. But if you have the opportunity to talk to them, the recommendation is that you try to get more details about how you can help.

Helping may look like finding them a shelter (they may not want to google one on their phone or home computer if the abuser checks their history), calling someone for them, or even picking them up to take them somewhere safe. And yes, if they want you to you can call the police.

The signal was originally created for use in video calls. If you see someone use it in that context and you know they’re wearing headphones (aka the abuser can’t hear what they’re hearing, but may be able to hear what they’re saying), you can ask “yes or no” questions to get more details. You can also ask if they have a different method of communication that the abuser can’t access.

older lotr illustrations sometimes depict éowyn wearing ridiculously small armour. apart from the problem general sexualisation of the only female character (who really does anything), there’s another hilarious thought:

éowyn pretended to be dernhelm, a man. to fit in, she must have worn men’s armor. so the armor in the illustrations is normal for rohirrim.

therefore, all the rohirrim rode to war just like that:

Frank Frazetta was the reason He-Man was designed like that; the producers conduct a study to see what art appeal the most to children, and Frank’s work came out on top in popularity. So everyone in He-Man is dressed the way they are directly because of Frazetta.

Story idea:

The protagonist is a young woman without much going for her, who somehow ends up in a scam in which she'll impersonate a local rich isolated weirdo's previously unknown daughter in order to get adopted and inherit him.

She's 100% sure there's no fucking way that this will work, but as soon as she shows up he's like "ah, of course, I remember nothing about your mother but you look just like her" and takes her in.

The dude is really fucking weird but treats her well, and after a while she begins to trust him, and feel bad about planning to betray him. She begins to help him clear out his old creepy hoarder house mansion, and actually convinces him to start using the money he's been sitting on into useful things, including donating to the social program that helped her survive her teens.

She tries to keep her distance, but despite of being born into so much wealth that he's completely out of touch with normal peoples' reality, he's been so damn nice that eventually she confesses the whole scam.

He, too, has a confession - it turns out that he had his testicles entirely removed in 1994, he's known all along that there's absolutely no way at all that he has biological children, but at his age he had started to regret that his lack of practical social skills has prevented him from having friends or starting a family, so when she showed up on his doorstep he just went

He sees her so seldom these days that sometimes he forgets to breathe when she’s around. Every time she laughs he gets a hitch in his lungs, painful and quick, like lightning. When she asks him if he’s okay, he excuses himself to step outside, breathing in the humid night air by the light of the moon which just reminds him of her. You rise with the moon. I rise with the sun. The moon is high in the sky, mocking him or crying for him. He doesn’t know which.

Kakashi and Iruka have been dating for a little bit, and Kakashi surprises him by coming in the apartment via window. Iruka, startled, starts to fall and Kakashi catches him and (drum roll please)…FACE REVEAL.

Also fun fact, this is actually a piece that I started in March of this year but uh…I’ve been drawing A LOT since then and I think it’s fair to say that I’ve gotten a bit better. Original incomplete linework under the cut if you wanna see ;)
