#my absolute favorite thing about dg is that it is full of gay jokes but not a single one puts down gay people #everyone in this show loves gays so much that they’re upset that a character they perceive as gay is actually not #derry girls

i think the reason the ending of this episode has hit so hard is because, in retrospect, this is the first time we have seen all of the girls express actual, genuine grief. yes, they were sad when james left, but we saw that resolved quickly into a very powerful and positive, hopeful moment. we didn’t see their reactions upon the news of the bombing at the end of season one, only the parents’, and i think that this being the series finale coupled with the first time we are seeing the entire cast (and especially clare) distraught and upset beyond words is making it hit so, SO much harder for me
