You'll note that this isn't Piranesi, but my midnight margarita is divine. ('Midnight' here meaning 2AM, the time at which I descended upon my backup ice tray.) It isn't perfecto per se but it’s a fabulous effort. I get so gay off that tequila!
AFFRIM: I WILL SOON START ONE OF THE TEN BILLION BOOKS I HAVE BOUGHT TO SUPPORT MY CURRENT CHARACTER ARC.
A book that isn't poetry, that is. I love love love poetry but I must (re)learn that prose is not going to kill me. But what to put on the shortlist? Each time I begin, the list quickly beomces un-short...
I already have a couple of art/poetry non-fics part-read rn which is something of a surprise – not because of the content itself but because I have been finding it far easier to pick up academic non-fiction than (what one hopes will be) immersive prose. What's that about, exactly?
Anyway, hello! To all three plus of us. If anyone should see this, please help break my chains. Or prithee just interact with this post in some vaguely bookish way; I'm trying to feel the community, here. Whatever the state of this poll should be later/tomorrow (assuming it gets any votes at all lol) shall decide my fate...
TBR Shortlist:
Piranesi – Susanna Clarke
Paladin's Grace – T. Kingfisher
Wuthering Heights – Emily Brontë
The Eye of the World – Robert Jordan
(finally finish) Crash – J.G. Ballard
We have a winner! Big thanks to everyone who interacted with the post.
"Tomorrow", I said, only to rise today at a most vampiric hour. Again. Oh, well. I'm out and about tomorrow so I'll start Piranesi on the train.
If not tonight! Although, having said so, that's a difference of a whole fifteen minutes at this point. I'll get back to you once I've read enough to pass fair comment. Maybe or maybe not after a midnight margarita…
