We all do this me included but its kind of ridiculous when people defending someone talk only about their "Underdog Traits" and when people critizice someone they are only use their "Privileged Traits" and like they are always all of those things together you know. Some do use nuance but its so typical the "poor neurodivergent queer" vs the "evil white cis guy" but its always the same person. In the end is always about what people are and not what they do.

I would not necessarily defend Pink Diamond on first principles, given her widely-known officerial position within the Infamous League of Space Fascists, but it IS 2026 and I would sort of hope that contemporary conversations around the character of Pink Diamond might have deigned to move beyond her birth into said Infamous League of Space Fascists. That I feel I have to preface this post in this way at all (half-jokingly… but only half!) frankly degrades my soul.

Anyway, what I am trying to say is that, however much we’d like to argue back and forth about the (in)sincerity or (in)sufficiencies of her personal change and growth as Rose Quartz, Pink Diamond has to be credited in a literal, consequentialist sense with the prevention of the mass genocide of all life on Earth. Conceptually, that does also mean you and everything you’ve ever loved. Is that anything? Do we mind counting that as part of her insidious legacy?

I will also just state so plainly that I think you have failed media literacy if you’ve made it through the whole of SU and come to the conclusion that PD/RQ can be summarised as a bad person. If children’s cartoons are too thematically complex for you, you can always return to those made for toddlers. And I’d better not see you liking anything approaching the problematicism of Patrochilles yaoi in the meantime.

Anyway, to be so candid, it does also help that I am just so completely charmed by the way she looks, and how I find her so relatable. We are absolutely nothing alike yet I find her so relatable. Some people transition to look androgynous, and that's fine. It should be celebrated.

It's not right that we never hear about people who take T to end up androgynous outside of context of "these are bad shallow transition goals, they're not taking being trans seriously". And it's even worse that we never hear about people who take E to be androgynous, because the dominant narrative is that they don't exist and any depiction of them is a mockery of binary trans women. It all also has an implication of greater safety/privilege sprinkled on top. As if it works like that for literally any trans person at all.

Some people don't want to look like an average cis person. Notice them. Respect them.
