“I suppose it does. And that is because I’m from another world.” He shrugged his shoulders slightly. “Pleasure to see you again, Wilkes. And at such a young age too.”

"It's Colin. Friends don't use last names, remember?" The ginger quipped before giving Damian a good study. "And it's nice to see you too! How old are you? Eighteen? Twenty-one? You look so cool!"

Damian! I haven’t seen you in a while. Is school making you busy too? [He had been missing the other boy and school was as boring and lonely as usual but Colin did his best to avoid sounding desperate for the company of an actual friend.]

You don't need to act so formal. I mean, you always had a lot more stuff to do than homework so it's normal if you're busy! [He shuffled lightly on his feet.] I've been good! Some stuff happened. The Sisters were really worried about some stuff but I think I'll be happier in the orphanage so I told them not to worry about my age. I can bring friends over now too!

Wow! You’re so tall now! [The boy tilted his head up, eyes widening almost comically at the sight.] When I saw you—erm—another you a few days ago, you were still my size! 

[Then he smiled widely.] But Damian, I don’t need a reason to visit a friend, right? Or are you busy with stuff right now?

Oh! One of my friends from school lent me a new game. Do you want to play it with me?  It’s about fighting zombies! [Excited, he dropped his backpack on the ground to rummage through it in order to pull out the game.]

“Yes, you will” He nodded and a smile played on his lips before raising an eyebrow at him as he started to search his backpack “I guess I can play it with you”

It’s really cool because they judge you on accuracy and stuff. It’s kinda corny but I like it. [With a beaming smile, he pulled out the borrowed “House of the Dead” and offered it to Damian.] 

Do you still have a console, Damian?

He took hold of the game and inspected it curiously before nodding at Colin. “Yes, I still have a console” He handed the game back to him.

You don’t have to! [He flushed pink, feeling awkwardly embarrassed despite knowing that Damian was only trying to be nice. The boy had always felt awkward but he knows it’s mostly the paranoia that someone might think he’s leeching off another person. Friendship, in his definition, wasn’t like that for him but he realized once in a while that people can still get under his skin with some stray comments.] The library—it’s close enough. I don’t mind walking and the librarian is really nice to me too. 

They let me stay there for a while even when it’s closing time! You can come with me next time, if you want. [He added on shyly. But then the boy has to pause and furrow his brow in confusion. Damian didn’t know an older him?] 

You don’t know an older me? Do you think—do you think that maybe I died? [The thought was scary but he’s come to realized that fighting crime wasn’t safe or easy. It’s part of being a hero, risking their lives that is.] Or maybe I got adopted? 

But…I’d still stay in Gotham. [That’s where his only friend were after all.] 

“It is of no trouble.” He raises a brow at the red heads awkwardness, people were so strange sometimes. Most times when Damian tried to be nice it led to others thinking he was up to something horrible, and that he had no kind bone in his body. Part of him had actually believed that when growing up he was incapable of being nice or feeling love. But many things had happened along the way to changed his mind about that. “Oh, I see. Well…it was nothing but a thought.”

“Hmm, I do need to catch up on my reading. I’ve been too busy to keep up with it as of late and I do miss it.” He replies, considering the boys offer over in his head. It was a good excuse to get out of his empty house, well, empty except for the animals.

“I’ve no idea, Colin. Perhaps you just don’t like me in the future.” No one would blame the boy, especially Damian himself. He pushed people away often whenever they became too close. His ultimate defense mechanism, being alone.

“I’m sure you would…” No one ever really leaves.

It's not that I don't want your book or anything, Dami, but I don't want to make trouble for you. [If the redhead was standing rather than sitting down, he would be shuffling his feet and trying to look everywhere but at Damian's face.] What if I accidentally ripped a page or something? [With the library, he could work it off but if it was Damian's book, Colin didn't think he could forgive himself.] 

And that's not possible! [The boy insisted firmly as he shook his head. There was no way that he wouldn't like Damian in the future. He was his best friend!] Something else must have happened. Maybe you just haven't met the older me yet! 

[He grinned and nodded.] Maybe I'm training somewhere else so I can get better! You know? To fight crime and stuff with you.
