tshd started out as a seemingly sad manga about a gay teen who lost his best friend and now has to experience the Horrors then BOOM! you were wrong. it's a hopeful story that tells you that there's always a way for you to be happy AND queer. you have a way out even in the worst scenarios. you deserve hope and happiness and to be with who you love. you deserve to exist without hiding. happy pride to yoshikaru

This reunion! That's the reunion we were talking about! They've been separated for a day, but for us readers, it's been MONTHS (almost a year?). And then we're presented with this absolutely BEAUTIFUL scene? It's more than I hoped to receive! What an emotional, fantastic, beautiful moment, full of true love! The author always knows how to write with such delicacy about 'Hikaru', he treats 'Hikaru' with so much love, the absolutely incredible and gentle vision he has of monsters says exactly everything we need to know about this story. It explains why this is a story of hope and not a "doomed yaoi" as some insist on saying on TikTok, as if they weren't capable of reading the rich text that this manga brings every day. Once again: this is NOT a story of humans with humans or of humans who love humans. This is the story of a monster who loves a human and a human who loves that monster back, in a way that is completely indescribable by the standards we know. And this chapter marks that like never before: Yoshiki, firm, determined, choosing 'Hikaru' above all else, saying goodbye to his family because he had already decided chapters ago: his home would be wherever 'Hikaru' was! Then he arrives confident and certain of what he wants: he wants to run to 'Hikaru', hold him, tell 'Hikaru' that he is no longer afraid. THE SMILE! The sincere, true smile of profound contentment that Yoshiki brings with him in that cover art! The small tear that escapes from 'Hikaru's' eye in his true form... This story is about that. It's about the two of them. A human and a monster who find love and understanding despite all the hatred that may come from the people around them!

I think he's telling us what he's been telling us for years now: we need to look at his song lyrics and actually look at the the emotional story they are telling over the years. He's not just giving us permission to finally put the pieces together, he's basically imploring us to do so.
