Can i run away to somewhere beautiful where nobody knows my name?
August doesnโt hurt them.
They welcome it,
arms bare, faces tilted to the sun,
laughing in heat I canโt breathe in.
They call it golden.
They say it feels like freedom.
But August has always arrived
like a ghost,
a slow ache,
a heavy quiet.
It doesn't scream,
it lingers.
It watches.
And it waits for me to fall apart.
They chase the light.
I pull the curtains.
They make memories.
I count the things Iโve lost.
Itโs not the heat.
Itโs the way everything feels stuck,
as if time itself has melted,
and Iโm standing in it,
ankle deep in all the things
I havenโt healed from.
They donโt notice.
Why would they?
To them, August is soft.
Itโs sunsets and skin.
Itโs music from open windows
and nights that taste like forever.
But for me,
itโs the month when the weight returns.
When nothing moves,
but everything hurts.
The month that promises nothing
and still manages to disappoint.
Iโve tried to meet it with grace.
Iโve tried to rewrite the story.
But August never forgets
what it came here to do.
And maybe one day
it wonโt feel like this.
Maybe one year
it wonโt find me.
But not this time.
Not yet.
Because for them, itโs summer.
For me, itโs survival.
there is a version of me that would have explained everything
small reminder: you can be grateful and still be exhausted
To the overthinkers:
I hope you find someone who doesn't leave you guessing. It's okay to want reassurance.
the art of not being ready and doing it anyways will take you so far
Your daily reminder to be nicer to yourself. You are still learning.
Sometimes you just need to hear how much you mean to someone
The right people won't need convincing. They'll know how lucky they are to be in your orbit.
How are you?
Existing. The verdict's still out.
