it was chaos, that much he could say. to be honest, harry would rather run from this and save himself. self-preservation was running through his veins, whether as an osborn or as a malfoy. frankly, he didn’t know who he was at the very moment. and so with chaos at hand, harry was going to be saving himself first before anyone else. it was just his luck then that he ran into mj. or was it daenerys? “khaleesi,” he called out as he got his wand ready, “we need to get to safety. i am not dying here tonight.”

when he decided to go as draco malfoy, it was more to the fact that he didn’t have to go far from character. they were both rich, arrogant, and young. may or may not have father issues of their own but that was another discussion altogether. he didn’t expect, however, to see everyone tumbling around, villains and other characters running about, and his wand prop suddenly all the more heavier. looking up, he saw a doombot about to come his way when harry pulled the closest person near him and waved his wand, shouting protego! before the doombot bounced off the protection field. “you either do something to help or i leave you here to deal with them.”

Sooraya continued to stare up at the buildings. “I mean, I lived in the X-Mansion, for a time, but this is…something else.” The Professor had his faults, but he was nowhere near this extra. “It’s certainly a Doom aesthetic, that’s for sure. Never thought I’d say this, but I miss the USA.”

well he kind of understood why she wasn’t as shocked as he thought she would be. considering what he saw with the x-men, they’re definitely a bit more dramatic than...say...the older avengers like tony stark and stephen strange. jesus, they were even more dramatic than reed richards. “i have a hypothesis that these guys live for the drama like celebrities do. kind of like the kardashians but in superhero mode.”

“considering he took away most if not all of our abilities, i’m not surprised he doesn’t want to give us weapons either. he wants the power to himself, both literally and metaphorically.” bucky replied, sighing softly before he shrugged his shoulders. “it would’ve been handy, yeah, but on second thought… don’t know that i’d want to be thrown into a ‘doomgeon’ for it. i don’t know what that entails, but i don’t think i want to find out.”

just thinking about his prototype glider and how much trouble it would cause doom⁠—if he chose to use it⁠—already had him releasing another defeated sigh. the young heir would definitely get in trouble if he got his glider out in the open in planet doom. “an insecure man if i saw one.” there was no other explanation why doom wouldn’t want them to have powers; not that it affected him any sort of way considering he didn’t have them but he did want to go back to his goblin formula. “isn’t mister stark in the dungeons? how’s he taking that? doom doesn’t sound so intimidating but...well, he has emma frost with him.”

the sorcerer watched him curiously, finding the lad charming if not a little out of his own territory. harry osborn wasn’t equipped for working retail and though he was doing a damn fine job of it, stephen still felt for him. especially as a man who had clawed his own way up from poverty to wealth. “a water for me, thanks - i hardly drink and honestly, i should probably remain as sharp as possible while i’m here.” he paused and pointed at harry, “but make yourself something, you can add it to my tab.”

maybe he was a little unnerved to be watched by someone he kind of knew. he wasn’t exactly close to stephen strange but he’s helped out enough with peter to know of him. well that, and he was one of the best surgeons back in new york and the osborns only dealt with the best. but he stopped and stared back at the sorcerer, blinking twice before shaking his head and smiled. “thanks, i’ll keep that in mind,” he said gratefully. “you sure you don’t want anything else? we’ve got a few mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks if you’re avoiding alcohol. you guys need a break once in a while; it makes for sharper senses.”

“Really? A smile is all it takes?” Kaine was never a PEOPLE person, but has gotten a lot better at it since being pulled into this reality for some unknown reason. He wasn’t about to turn around, not taking it lightly when someone is pestering him. He’d probably get in a fight if it was a group of men, but based off of the sounds going on behind him that wasn’t the case. Still he doesn’t want to be their entertainment for whatever purposes they’d want, the thought making him cringe a little — so Kaine pretends they aren’t even there. Which is for the best really. “I’ll be fine, good luck.” Kaine whispers back with a smile actually, proud of himself for being able to make friends with Harry. He turns his attention back to the bottle in his hand, diving back into his thoughts now that he was alone.

he gave a grateful pat on kaine’s shoulder as he brought the tray of cocktails to the group of giggling middle-aged women. harry knew how to deal with women like them; a little attention from a young, good-looking man and his pockets were lined with tips from them. he had a little more empathy for the bartender in his favourite bar back in new york now; harry was definitely going to be giving him bigger tips when they go back. just as he came back to his station, he took a tray of fancy french fries and dip, taking it to his friend, as well as a bottle of moscow mule and signaled their floor manager that he was taking a break. “to answer your question earlier: yes, just a smile.” faking a smile to deal with people was something he learned when he was a child; which was sad considering he shouldn’t even have to learn how to fake it when he was still a kid. “so how are you guys? haven’t fought over the remote or hot water yet?”

It was nice that Kaine was able to get something else since he barely drank the OTHER one. “Thanks.” He says as he takes the bottle from Harry, inspecting the label before trying it. This is definitely better, and while he shouldn’t drink — he needed this. He could handle being drunk for one night. Who knows? If he paces himself maybe it won’t happen so fast. Which is hard when it only takes ONE. “I appreciate that, plus it’s good being able to talk with someone familiar. “I couldn’t imagine how it would be when it’s packed. You seem to be doing well at the whole bartending thing though.” Even if it wasn’t ideal, any of this. “It’s exhausting, but back in my own reality I made friends with the Houston police force so this was the only job I have ANY clue on what to do. I just hope people stay out of trouble.” He takes another sip of the beer in his hand. “This is much better, thank you.”

“Dealing with patrons is something I’m at least familiar with. You wouldn’t believe how much a smile and compliment go with these people.” Plus, it helped that he was a good-looking waiter with great hair. And the bar seemed like a better idea than the restaurant; he’d much rather deal with drunk patrons than fussy ones. “You good here for a few minutes? I just have to give out these cocktails and I’ll be back.” He throws a smile and a wave to a group of middle-aged women a few tables down before giving his attention back to Kaine. “Don’t look back now if you don’t want to be their entertainment for the night,” he whispered to the webslinger. Harry wasn’t about to fling his new friend off to the ‘wolves’, for the lack of a better term. “I’ll be right back.”

while michelle isn’t fond of the idea of doom running their world, she also knew they didn’t have much of a choice at this time. though she didn’t have to experience losing any powers, she understands the anger of all the supers. “for like… how long?” she was kind of enjoying being a nurse, helping people when doom’s bots decided to be jerks and shoot people. but regardless she didn’t want to stay under his control for much longer. “they’re gonna do something about this right?” though she was asking, michelle wasn’t going to rely just on the supers for help. if need be, she was one too take matters into her own hands. living with natasha and bucky only further helped her to grow this mindset of hers. “if not we should do something anyway.”

“I don’t have the answer to that, sadly. You’re going to have to ask the older ones that one. I’m just going with the flow these days.” Harry knew all about self-preservation after all, and while he’s not willing to go the extra mile for their Supreme Overlord, he’s not one to put himself in the line of fire either. Unless, of course, Peter was somehow involved then he was going to get to the frontlines. “They’re probably already doing something anyway. Can’t imagine Doctor Richards willingly functioning under Doom’s orders. Apparently, they’re rivals or whatever. Doesn’t Doom hate Doctor Richards?” He leaned back on his chair, his textbook lay forgotten on the table in front of him. “I’m all for let’s get our freedom back and shit, but we really should wait for a plan. Ben already got himself in trouble with vandalism.”

“APPLE? I haven’t had that one — next time I’ll have to give it a try.” Kaine appreciates the advice when it comes to what to order, usually stick to the cheap beer that never tastes grate in his prior experiences. He smiles though, as he looks to Harry, gaze turned away from the glass pushed away with the GROSS drink poured inside. “It’s just me tonight.” The clone flashes a smile, knowing that he was probably the least interesting of the three brothers, but he was making progress. “How has work been?”

He let out a chuckle, taking the glass of beer from Kaine and leaving to get another, this time returning with a cold bottle of Moscow Mule instead. “Here, this tastes loads better. On the house to make up for your gross flavoured beer experience.” Technically, Harry shouldn’t be offering alcohol ‘on the house’ because he doesn’t own the bar but he likes to think that the owner at least owed him for bringing in regulars since he started waiting for them. “Well I’ll keep you company here tonight.” The young heir shrugged, throwing a smile at another patron at another table before putting his attention on Kaine. “It’s been busy. You’d be surprised at how this,” he said as he waved around the bar, “is one of the emptier nights.” Which doesn’t really say much considering they still had a lot of patrons inside. “You? How has life been since becoming part of the police force?”

Kaine makes a face after pushing the beverage away from him. “I have decided that flavored beer in particular is terrible. It’s for the best, I shouldn’t drink anyway.” The way alcohol affects his spider physiology makes even ONE far too dangerous. He crosses his arms over the table, getting comfortable despite being in a public place. “I should have taken your word for it.”

“i’m telling you, man. the only good flavoured beer is apple. but if you want something that tastes good, a moscow mule should be fine.” it was his shift waiting at the bar tonight, and he’s pretty sure he’s going to be pulling in long hours again. but a smile here and a compliment there and he’s got tips flowing into his pocket. but kaine was a nice break from dealing with customers left and right; it was nice to have a friend over at work. “no peter and ben tonight?”

Ben leaned across the counter with a grin. “Well, I’ve got a cappuccino right here for ‘Selfish Dickhead,’ but I guess I’m mistaken.” He slid the drink towards Harry, marker-scrawled name facing front. He liked working at the cafe, he really did, but it was long hours, and his no-longer-superhuman body had started to complain. Harry coming in, though–he’d needed it. He didn’t know where he was going with this, whatever this was, just that he hadn’t seen it coming but he wanted to see it through. (Would Peter be okay with this, if it was a this? Was hitting on your twin’s best friend okay? Did the whole clone thing complicate it even more? Don’t go there, Ben. Not yet.) 

He glanced at his watch (which was definitely not a carefully disguised web shooter, absolutely not), and looked back up at Harry. “I get off in ten. If you want to hang around, maybe we could, um….”

harry leaned across the counter himself, a teasing—almost challenging—smile on his lips as he plucked the coffee cup from ben’s hands. “well i’ll take that if it means i get to have your coffee.” he pulled away as he sipped on his coffee, before actually being taken by surprise with how good the coffee was. “oh shit, this is really good. damn, it even beats pete’s coffee.” not that he’s had peter’s coffee on the regular but he did like it whenever peter made him some when he visits his apartment. “i hope you know i’m visiting everyday for this killer coffee now.” at the back of his mind, harry knew this was a risk especially since they lived on different dimensions. hell, ben even had his own harry back in his world. but he refused to think about that now—not when he was currently living in the moment. besides, he was the one who started pursuing ben.

“i’d love to. i’ll wait by the corner table,” he said as he gave a smile. besides, it was one of the rare days where he was free of obligations. spending the day with ben sounded like a good idea. “just come by my table when you’re ready to go.”

peter groaned in response, his head falling back and hitting the back of the couch. “my brain is broken right now, har. i can’t be creative.” he said. god, this was a mess. he didn’t even know where to start. first there was the whole nightmare thing that he really wasn’t over yet, and now finding out the world minus latveria was gone? well, it was a lot to take in. after his first shift at the cafe, he was pretty exhausted. not to say he didn’t like the job, it was kind of fun, but… “i miss new york. is that weird? i mean, it was… full of crime and kind of dirty sometimes, and sure i was being framed for murder, but… it was home.” he sighed.

harry let out an ungraceful snort, something which an heir to a multibillion-dollar corporation shouldn’t be doing, but he did it anyway. he can’t exactly blame the webslinger for thinking that way; not after they were on a floating rock at the very moment. “you and me both,” he said as he too fell back into the couch beside peter. they’ve been adjusting to new situations for quite some time now and it was incredibly exhausting all the time. “yeah, it was home. i couldn’t walk alone without thinking i had a big fat target on my back but i do miss coffee at stan’s and the pizza from the italian place in brooklyn—i still think they’re an italian mafia, by the way. no way they make that good of a pizza without being in the mafia, pete.” he’s seen the godfather enough to be of firm belief that the greatest italian places in new york are headed by the mafia.

“speaking of that whole murder thing, didn’t you get that hotshot pro-bono lawyer?,” he asked as he sat up again, facing the other male. “isn’t he the blind one? matt murdock?” the young heir remembers his father’s associates losing battles in the courtroom because of a blind, pro-bono lawyer, and he was a little surprised to find out he offered to be his best friend’s legal counsel. but he was confident that peter was going to be fine. “he’s never lost a case, y’know? i’m pretty sure you’re going to win this one.” because no matter what happens, harry will always believe in one person above all others and that was peter parker.

harry almost let out an ungraceful snort. almost. he had a free day from school and work that day and what better way to spend his day than to visit ben in the cafe? he’s long since forgotten about his earlier embarrassment at mistaking ben for peter, and currently actively pursuing the blonde man. if it beyond friendship, flirtationship or not, he was willing to take it day by day. “not sure about being a selfish dickhead,” he began as he offered that smile to the blonde twin again, “but i, for sure, would like a partner. preferably you.”

after the whole i-thought-you-were-dead-how-are-you-alive scenario when they were still in the savage lands, harry managed to figure out and get his bearing back when they got through the tear. unfortunately, they landed in an egotistic man’s territory and now they had to do his bidding and lay low, if only to take the attention away from them. “i wish i was,” harry said, defeated as he witnessed another round-up in the middle of the square, the robots effectively gathering whoever it was that they were targeting. “unfortunately, we’re going to have to live like this for a while.”

“couldn’t they have at least let me have my prototype glider?” it was frustrating to be walking around and working around planet doom without his earlier projects back at oscorp. harry would much rather have his prototypes at hand and in his sight, especially if they were dealing with someone like doom. “the machete would’ve come in handy though.”

to be fair, he could see why the woman thought it imposing. it was in that european gothic architectural style that was also the style of the churches back in new york city with their many spires and stained glass windows. but he’s long since adjusted to the fact that they were living in a place like that. grown men with powers always seem to be on the side of the dramatic. “you think he’s developing his buildings to look like this for that doom and gloom aesthetic?”
