OH. IT’S HAPPENING!
The last time WIll and Swerve interacted with one another was when Will announced that he had a neck injury and Swerve hugged him. And now both of them have taken drastic turns since they last saw each other (on screen at lest) I'm not emotionally ready for this build up
Commisioned work for @otsukare-katsukare
I just had a realization.
I wonder if part of the original plan for MJF and Adam Cole was to be the opposite of Strickpage?
Cole was clearly making MJF a better person, while Swerve made Hangman worse.
Maybe they'd eventually clash as tag teams down the road.
Alas, it was not meant to be
they were the opposite in that MJF and Adam Cole started with such a good bromance, but later they had such a gut twisting betrayal, where it ultimately left MJF to become who is now and set up the pipeline of the people who he looked up to always letting him down
meanwhile, Swerve and Hangman were so disgustingly brutal to each other in the beginning, but it allowed Swerve to reveal another side to Hangman permanently as a person. they became the only ones who truly understood each other after so much bloodshed, and because of their sole understanding of one another, they ultimately needed each other most in the end
That's why I said original plan because things very quickly changed once Cole got injured. We may never truly know unless someone spills the beans on what the original plan was, but I don't think it included MJF defending his tag titles alone or the devil stuff and dare I say the betrayal too. They were clearly building up to something and then it completely got derailed once Cole was injured. Honestly the more I think about it the parallels between strickpage and better than you baybay run even deeper. Like how similar their eliminator matches were for the title. MJF and Adam Page denying their opponents 5 more minutes because their matches ended in a draw. MJF and Hangman will never not be perfect foils for each other.
