I'm still so annoyed they cut this scene. When she saw him and ran to him pulled at my heart strings. When they hugged each other tight and the other readers would have known this was their last scene. So much was expressed by those characters in mere seconds. Even though the actors had such a limited window, you truly felt how much Tonks and Lupin loved each other beyond measure with every scene they did especially in the last two movies. Their story was so complex.

This is one time when I would have preferred the movie over the book. It broke my heart that we never found out if Tonks found Lupin one last time in the books before she met her demise. I really hated the fact that JKR killed them off so they'd have an orphan and the story would go full circle.

I remember at the end, I really lost interest in Harry as a character which I felt was sad. I liked Hermione from day one and Luna. I thought Lupin was an underrated character and I fell head over heels for Tonks.

Never mind I will lose myself in the fandom and hopefully avoid the fallout from the other 'ships'. Nymphodora and Remus Lupin fan all the way!!

This is why I love Flying Colours by Taura Norma, it’s a full retelling of the books from their perspectives, starting with when Remus and Tonks meet. It’s so beautifully written and she also added a bit to the end for anyone who preferred to see them get their happy ending 😭😭😭 I wish I had a physical copy of it on my bookshelf.

Sirius was still lying on the couch, where Padfoot had sank before turning back, and Peter precariously perched on the back while James was sat on the floor, having toppled after trying to transform from Prongs in a bow. Remus stood in the middle of the group and took in her shocked, yet impressed, stare and his friends’ dopey grins. “Lilly, you can’t tell, they were just trying to help me & they’ll register eventually, but for now -“

She finally managed to sputter out, “How long have you guys been animagi?”

Sirius looked to James, who shrugged. “What’s it been, Moony, two or three years now.”

“About, yes, that’s when I told you…well, Lilly, there’s something else, uhm…” he looked around for support.

“Remus can turn into a wolf,” Sirius blurted.

Lilly’s attention snapped back to him, expecting. “Well it’s not…I can’t do it on command,” he said, exasperation tinging his tone.

“Yeah,” James jumped in, “he’s not an animagus, he’s -“

“I know about your Lycanthropy, Remus, I’m one of your closest friends,” she said with a fond eye roll. “That’s doesn’t exactly explain why you three decided to, illegally might I add, become animagi.”

Peter shrugged. “It gets lonely out in the shack.” Despite his original hesitations, Remus found himself nodding in agreement; full moons had marginally improved with the Marauders.

Remus Lupin who gets cold easily despite his own body's temperature being warm. Remus Lupin who holds his tea cup by the rim because his hands feel wrong with the handles. Remus Lupin who trusts blindly because he's never realised that people can be deceiving. Remus Lupin who likes his food cold, to an extent, and thinks that hot food just doesn't taste like much. Remus Lupin who makes judgemental faces and loves to gossip. Remus Lupin who's insecure about his scars, but not in the way he thinks they make him ugly, in the way that they make him a monster. Remus Lupin who never really learned that he wasn't a liability or a burden. Remus Lupin who was too young to lose it all. Remus John Lupin.
