Max: It had been a final half-day when school had broken up and as the bell rang Max packed up his things shoving them into a bag before hopping up to his feet. Circling around the desks until he came to a stop infront of Liz's he flashed her a crooked grin. "Ready to go?" He inquired rocking back onto his heels excitedly, obviously wanting to get out of here as fast as he could possibly manage. "Mum's looking forward to seeing you again. She said we could watch whatever we wanted tonight. So any preference?"

Liz: Liz was closing her notebook when Max appeared in front of her, full of bursting energy. She smiled and chuckled carefully putting her things into her bag at a pace she knew Max would be less than happy with, but she didn't want to have to move with the crowd, and that sometimes meant being one of the last people out of the classroom. "Yeah, yeah, just give me a moment. Not all of us can be speed demons like you." She stood up slinging the backpack over her shoulders. "Okay now I'm ready. I always look forward to seeing your mom. No preference other than it has to be fantasy. I picked Earthsea the other night so you get to pick tonight.
Max: He'd spent most of the lesson daydreaming and gazing out of the window as large snowflakes had begun to fall ontop of the snow that already lay upon the ground. As the lesson had dragged on it had grown heavier and Max just couldn't wait to get outside and at least have some kind of fun. "Come onnnnnn Liz." He whined a little bouncing on the spot as he looked at her waiting for her as she rose from her seat immediately grabbing her hand and leading her to the door. "Can we watch Harry Potter? You get to choose which one. I fancy watching that tonight." He said with a nod of his head.
Liz: "I don't know what the rush is, Max. We are just going to get stuck in the hallway with everyone else rushing." When he grabbed her hand she laughed, entwining their fingers and following behind him quickening her pace a little. "Yeah, of course we can. Oh, oh! Prisoner of Askaban. Let's watch that one. I love that one," she said, poking his side playfully.
Max: He glanced aside at her and gave her that typical grin. "That's why we're not going the usual way." He glanced down as he felt her fingers entwine around his own and swung their hands together as they walked. He led her through the crowds easily weaving around people until they came to the fire-escape looking at her and grinning slightly he pushed the door open and pulled her through onto the walkway down to the school grounds. "Good thing I cut that alarm at the start of term." He mused glancing at all the other kids still shoving each other down the corridor before letting the door swing shut. "Definitely. You know I love that one." He nudged her in return smiling as some snowflakes became trapped in his dark hair.
Liz: Liz rolled her eyes at his words but followed obediently behind him following him through the fire escape. "Such a rule breaker you, it's a wonder you aren't caught." But she wasn't going to complain. They had done this plenty of times before, especially when there was just way too many people in the hallway. "As do I. Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. No way it could go wrong." She shivered slightly as the breeze hit her, scowling at the snow that fell at top them. She already had gloves on, but she pulled on her hat making sure it was snug over her ears
Max: "The headteacher loves me. Even if I am caught I doubt she'd do anything." He smiled a little, the alarm was never on this door and it just made life easier especially when it came to getting home rather than having to trek all the way around the school buildings they just had to cut across the school grounds. "Cookies and coco?" He inquired already knowing the response he was going to get as they started walking through the snow their boots compacting the snow with a crunching sound. His eyes were bright and cheerful as his hair was slowly being turned white from the snow building up in it not that he appeared to mind in the slightest.
Liz: "Cutting the wires for the fire door won't just get you in trouble with the principal. The fire department will also look at it and they'll know it's been tampered with," she commented with a nod. The last thing she needed was for Max to get in actual trouble for what he'd done though honestly, she doubt he'd ever get caught. "Yes please. I love your mom's cocoa," she said cheerily, though she frowned as she felt the snow collecting on her hat and she groaned
Max: "It's not as if they know it was me. . ." He shook his head slightly. "Plus there's another alarm seperately on the wall opposite the door so. . . It's fine. Nobody will die if there's a fire." He hummed as they crossed the playground out onto the street that led down to his home. "I know you do." Seeing her frown he chuckled as she groaned lightly knocking her shoulder with his own once more. "Stop groaning. Snow is great!"
Liz: "Oh no, not at all. There aren't video cameras there at all," she said sarcastically. "It's not about fires, it's about tampering with federal property. The feds don't like that at all." But she knew she wasn't going to get him to worry about it, so she just dropped the subject, walking in silence as they cut across the playground, stepping lightly so as not to slip and fall. "It is not. It's just snow. It's cold and wet. And there's ice around. I don't like winter."
Max: "There aren't on that door." Max sighed a little, there was no point worrying he'd spent a long time going over the idea before he'd carried it out and they'd debated this topic more than once. "Well if I get arrested you'll just have to bail me out." Max kept a tight grip on her hand as they walked across the ground, he just walked normally not really minding the ice and snow. "Ice is cool, you can go ice skating." He countered as they set off down a track towards his house. "I still don't see why you don't like it."
Liz: "Do you think I have the type of money to bail you out. You have to be joking." She laughed and nudged him so he was pushed a little off their path but not enough that she couldn't keep her grip on him or that they would both fall down together. "Remember what happened when you took me ice-skating last. I fell and mess up my knee and I couldn't walk right for a week or so." She sighed, shaking her head and feeling the snow fly off of her hat. "I don't like it because it's just cold and icy and everything's dead basically."
Max: "I'm sure you'd manage to find a way." He teased slipping a little but regaining his balance fairly easily after he was pushed off track. "Well yes. . . But that doesn't mean to say we can't try again and I did tell you to wear those knee pads." He sighed a little himself as they reached the drive to his house. He let go of her hand and grinned scooping up some snow and compacting it into a snowball before throwing the projectile at her back with rather good accuracy. "But it can be fun."
Liz: "No. I would leave you there. To rot in juvie." She chuckled to herself as he slipped a little. "Well maybe if you hadn't let go of my hand and told me 'I could do it' after I pretty much showed you I couldn't I wouldn't have fallen nor would I have needed knee-pads. You weren't wearing them." She continued forward thinking that Max was just getting the mail for his parents but growled as the snow hit her back. "Did you really have to do that?"
Max: "Ouch. Ouch. . . That's harsh. See I'd bail you out no matter what. How come you wouldn't do that same for me? How would you cope with Emma alone?" He shook his head slightly. "You let go of my hand and plus you did well, it was only because someone else pushed you that you messed up your knee." He heard her growl and ducked behind the mailbox throwing another to match the first he'd thrown. "Oh lighten up. Come on Liz! Enjoy it."
Liz: "First off, I wouldn't ever get caught because I don't do bad things. Two, I can cope with Emma just fine. She is my best friend, alongside of you and I do love her very much. Someone has to protect her from Axton. His over-protectiveness is killing her." She shook her head and sighed. "Maybe, just maybe, if I had the money I would bail you out." She shook her head. "Uh, no, you told me to let go. And see, not my fault, their fault. I'm not about to let someone push me again where I'm wearing blades on ice. Not safe." Trying to brush the snow off her back was proving useless and she turned just in time for the next snowball to hit her front. "Max! I do not enjoy this. I cannot enjoy this."
Max: "Still the point stands if it ever happened I would always get you out." At the mention of Axton he frowned. "Yeah but Axton is. . . Nobody likes Axton. He's not good." He grumbled at the mention of the other boy. "Their fault exactly! Therefore you can't put the blame on me because it wasn't my fault you fell." He countered again but knew it was futile so eventually he dropped it waving his hand. "Come on Liz! Hit me back. It'll be fun!"
Liz: "People like Axton... I like Axton, he's not a bad person, just a little rough around the edges. And he cares for Emma a lot... I don't see why you don't like him so vehemently." She peered at him, it was always so odd how grumpy got at the mention of Axton's name. "Still your fault. I don't care about your logic." She just glared at him, arms crossed against her chest. "Max, I can't throw. Therefore it's useless. You're just going to win and I'm going to be soaked and grumpy."
Max: He gave her a look as if to say he didn't understand a single thing she was saying, which he didn't. "I don't like Axton, he's not a good guy Liz. I don't. . . I don't like his intentions." He grumbled a little unhappily on the topic. He couldn't help himself, the topic of Axton always got him riled and it just wasn't something he enjoyed. "You're no fun." He whined picking up his bag and then the mail before he set off down to the porch once more.
Liz: "I know you don't like Axton. You make this perfectly clear. His intentions? What would you know about his intentions? It's not as if you talk to him. Ever. At all." Liz wasn't getting angry she just couldn't understand why Max was so hostile towards even her bringing Axton up in conversation. She just couldn't. She sighed as he walked back carrying his bag and the mail and she followed behind him to his front porch. "I'm sorry Max. I just don't like the snow."

Max: "I just. . . I don't like them alright? He seems. . ." He paused as though searching for the right word to use. "He's shifty and I don't like it. . ." He sounded a big indignant when he spoke again. "I have talked to him! And I don't like it." Max couldn't help this side of him that appeared whenever Axton was brought up in conversation or passing. He just couldn't bring himself to like the other boy. He simply shrugged at her apology. "Yeah sure." Was the only response he gave as he took out his key and unlocked the door heading inside.
Liz: "Oh yeah, shifty from the guy who cut the wire on the fire exit just so he wouldn't have to deal with walking around a building," she muttered, rolling her eyes and shoving her hands in her pockets. "You never give me reasons. And I hate that." She fell silent as he walked past her and she just stared at the ground as they walked to his door and she wanted for him to get done unlocking it. She headed inside behind him, and stood there for a bit before taking off her boots so she wouldn't track snow in the house.
Max: "Hey now. That is not fair." He retorted with a frown. "I did it because it is highly illogical and you hate the crowds. It was for both our benefit." He rifled through the mail pretending not to hear her next comment as he walked past her towards the house. He hated these conversations, they never ended up good so it was best to just drop them. He walked in ahead of her and unlaced his boots toeing them off and putting them in line before returning to close the door behind Liz when she was inside.
Liz: "Just because it's beneficial doesn't mean it's not shifty," she murmured, resigning herself to stare at the ground and kick her feet a little. She didn't like arguing with Max, but she also hating not knowing people's reasons for why they felt or said or did things, and since no one else ever seemed to do it for her she felt as if Max should at least. Sadly, this wasn't the case most of the time. She had to sit on the little dresser to get off her boots, staying quiet.
Max: He hated the arguments that often rose from Axton's name being mentioned, he was aware that it got on her nerves that he couldn't explain it but he just couldn't bring out the truth on this. There were so many things that could go wrong. . . "I'm sorry. . . I don't know why. . . I just know for a fact that I don't like him." He sighed hearing the sound of footsteps approaching. "Brace yourself, hugs incoming." He joked trying to lighten the mood some.
Liz: "It's fine," she muttered, removing her hat and shaking her hair out to its normal waves. "I still don't get it. But it's not gonna stop me from hanging out with him. You just have to remember he's my friend too." She finally got her shoes off and was putting her scarf, gloves, and coat on a peg, smiling softly at the footsteps. "I'm always braced for accepting hugs from your mom."

Max: "I know it won't. . . I'm just saying I don't like him." He mumbled quietly beginning to unwrap his jacket from his body and hang it up on the peg. Max brushed the snow out of his hair which was already melting due to the heat of the house. When he saw his mum he broke out in a bright smile and waved a little. "Good."
Rebecca: Rebecca had been in the family study with a novel and a cup of steaming hot-chocolate when she'd heard the door open which announced the return of Max from school. She was aware that Liz was also coming around today and at the sound of the lock clicking back into place she set down her book rising to her feet and walking through the corridors until she arrived at the entrance hallway smiling. "Hey guys. How was school?" She swept forwards as she always usually did wrapping Liz up in a hug. "Gosh you're freezing dear, you'll be needing the fire on I think." She moved over to Max hugging him similarly and kissing his head to which he tried to scrabble away from looking a little embarrassed.

Liz: Liz smiled brightly as Mrs. Knight entered the hallway. "Oh it was great. Didn't do much, since last day of classes and all." She hugged her back tightly, always loving her hugs. She never got hugs at her own house but after being friends with Max since they were little and always getting hugs from his mother, she believed it gave her as much hugs as she would ever want. "I'm frozen. Max was throwing snowballs at me," she said, smirking over at Max as he tried to escape his mother's clutches

Rebecca: "Ah yes of course, well I do hope you've not got much work over Christmas. Don't want to ruin the holidays and all." She lightly ruffled Liz's hair as she hugged her tightly. Though at feeling how cold she was she rubbed her hands over Liz's arms in an attempt to warm her slightly. "Oh well then. Maxmilian Knight you're on bin duty for the rest of the week. You should know better." She said in a stern tone that Max knew was futile to argue with.

Max: Max was trying to wrestle out of his mother's grasp when Liz spoke and when she did his eyes widened and he shuffled his feet slightly looking down as his mother spoke. He knew there was no point in arguing and when she finished he answered with a quiet. "Yes mama." Before being shooed off towards the lounge.
Liz: "Not much school work, though I'm working a lot at the diner. Have to work to earn money and I need money to finish up Christmas shopping. But that won't ruin it, it's always nice at the diner." She smiled up at her as she ruffled her hair and as she started to rub Liz's arms. She grinned as Max was punished. Not she liked to get him punished but bin duty wasn't that bad. Plus maybe he wouldn't throw snowballs at her anymore. "I should go sit near the fireplace shouldn't I?" she asked, getting out of Rebecca's hug.

Max: "Well don't you overwork yourself dear, you know I don't want you to get ill from overworking yourself." She eventually nodded her had. "We really should come down to visit sometime, we keep meaning to but with work and everything it's difficult. We'll manage it though." She eventually let Liz out of the hug and usherered her after Max to the lounge. "Definitely, I took the liberty of keeping your favourite blanket out in case you came around. Now. Cocoa? I've also baked from fresh cookies for you both."
Rebecca: Rebecca^ Bleh
Max: Max was well aware that it was futile to argue with his mother on punishments, sure it wasn't so bad but he honestly hated the job and was often prone to slipping all over the place in the weather and with the bins it was a precarious task to say the least. Not that he complained but the point stood that it was the one job Max hated to do. He'd gone to the lounge ahead of the others grabbing his blanket and wrapping it around his shoulders like a cape before sinking down in one of the armchairs.
Liz: "Oh don't worry I don't. Mrs. Johnson makes sure we get plenty of breaks." Liz perked up at the idea of them coming down to the diner. "You really should. I make the best shakes and malts and with Benjy on the grill little can go wrong. I'll make sure you get the best service." She followed Max into the lounge, chuckling at the sight of Max in his blanket and grabbing her own, sitting down and wrapping it around herself into a cocoon. "I'd love some cocoa and cookies Ms. Rebecca."

Rebecca: "She'd better otherwise I'll be coming and having words." She concluded with a nod moving them into the lounge and directing her over to the fire and blankets. "I'll be sure to gather all of these ravenous lot up and bring them down one day." Rebecca smiled warmly before looking at Max and then Liz. "One second then." And with this she vanished from the room towards the kitchen in order to make up the hot chocolate.
Max: Max hard wrapped his blanket over one shoulder in effect making it look like a dark navy and very soft toga wrapped around his body. Grabbing the pile of DVDs and rifling through them until he found the right one he began setting up the TV adjusting the settings before grabbing the remotes and walking over to the sofa plopping himself down beside Liz his hair which was slowly drying already being rather unruly and out of place as he waited for his mother's return.
Liz: "Nope. No need for words," Liz said happily, shaking her head. "We'll be sure to make them un-ravenous! We're rather good at that." She smiled as Rebecca walked away to grab the cocoa and cookies, watching Max attentively as he started adjusting the TV. When he sat down next to her she chuckled and rested her head on his shoulder. "Your hair is a mess. It's hilarious," she said, letting a hand escape from her cocoon to ruffle his hair, grinning at him.

Max: He crawled about infront of the TV his blanket over his head and body as he set about pressing all the buttons and putting the DVD into the player. He pressed the button and the DVD slid into the player before he grabbed the remote and got up walking back to sit down beside her. Pulling the blanket down further ruffling his hair he let her settle at his side then. "Shut up. My hair is cool okay?" He fell quiet as she ruffled his hair clicking through the menus as the adverts came up.
Rebecca: After leaving the two kids in the room she walked off to the kitchen which was a couple of rooms down, making up two cups of cocoa for them aswell as grabbing a plate of cookies and bowl of popcorn. Putting it all onto a tray and carrying it back before setting it down on the table infront of them. Looking to the screen she smiled. "Prisoner of Azkaban. Good choice. Alright if you need anything just come find me - I'll be in the study. No turning into werewolves or witches without me okay?" She gave them both a cheeky smile ruffling their hair and heading to the study.

Liz: "I'm not saying your hair isn't cool. But it's also messed up. In a cool way. Don't worry, it just makes you even more handsome." She grinned, taking her eyes off him and setting them on the screen, waiting for the movie to actually start. Liz smiled as Rebecca brought in the tray of goodies. "Thank you, Mrs. Knight. I always love your cocoa." She leaned forward grabbing a mug with both hands and taking a sip. "Thanks! I picked it. And I certainly won't, but no telling about Maxie here, he's starting to look a little furry around the edges." She laughed poking Max in the shoulder gently before grabbing a cookie from the plate.

Max: "Good because I'd just tell you you're a big fat liar if you did." He started though after a moment his face began to turn crimson. "W-what?" He laughed a little nervously coughing and rapping his hand against his chest looking away as his mother walked in knowing the redness of his face was rather evident. He just took his mug and a cookie nibbling on it quietly though when Liz poked his arm he looked up his face still flaming. "Don't worry tonight isn't a full moon." He assured them both.
Rebecca: She set the tray down and handed out both cups though at Liz's thanks she smiled. "You're welcome love." She nodded at the TV. "Oh well I'm sure we'll just have to manage. You keep him in line Liz." With this she smiled at them both. "Enjoy the film." And with this she turned and headed out of the room leaving them both in peace as the movie began.
Liz: "Ouch, so mean Max. And for no real reason. Tut tut, you hurt me deep." She didn't notice Max's face turning crimson, too content to watch the TV. "Well yeah, even if your hair is messed up that isn't gonna severely affect your looks." When Rebecca entered her focus was changed to her. "I can do just that. He won't be a troublemaker under my watch. I'll come say goodnight before I head home. Enjoy your evening." Liz waved as she left, then looked at Max. "Why so red, Max?"
Max joined the chat 8 hours ago
Max: "Well you didn't say it so therefore I never said that and thus no one is hurt." He concluded with a nod of his head, though at her next comment he couldn't really help how he reacted. Usually comments like those fell on deaf ears though when Liz made them he couldn't really help how it caused a giddy smile to appear on his lips. He watched his mother leave before he glanced back at Liz only to be faced with her question. "What? Red? Who. . . What?" He stammered his brows furrowing. "Nobody is red."

Liz: "Nope. I'm still hurt," she said, holding a hand over her heart melodramatically. Her comment had just been off-handed. She had no trouble with telling people that they were pretty or handsome if they were. And Max was. Even though he couldn't notice it, or just didn't want to notice it, girls had been flirting with him for as long as Liz knew. But she still gained a slight enjoyment at Max's embarrassment. "You are red. Like 99 red balloons red."
