Amina Ross Peep Show (2014) Amina Ross is a undisciplined Chicago-based artist. Through visual abstraction she creates palatable tensions of repulsion and seduction. The conceptions of black visuality and the sexualized image are combined through a blending of image, writing, performance, curatorial and installation work.

Black Salt Collective We Came From Earth, We Came From Space (2014) Black Salt Collective is the work of Sarah Sass Biscarra-Dilley, Grace Rosario Perkins, Anna Luisa Petrisko, and Adee Roberson.
Black Salt embodies cultural and contemporary narratives. The work is cultural, but not “cultural” in the anthropological sense of the word, as cultural art is often seen through a Western lens. Black Salt is about contemporary non-linear identity in which experience results in atmosphere.

Lares Feliciano Land: An Animation (2011) Lares Feliciano is a Puerto Rican artist and filmmaker dedicated to creating thoughtful media that educates and inspires. She believes it is our stories that connect us and it is in sharing our stories that change occurs. Lares lives in Denver, CO where she continues to focus on creating mixed media collages and has several film projects in development.

Lorin Murphy Southern Fried Kansas (2015) Lorin Murphy's work is collage in nature and draws heavily on his experience as a film projectionist. Works are made using 16mm film, bleach, ink and removal of emulsion. A live score usually accompanies films. Lorin has been working with other queer film community members to put on the queer film/video series Periwinkle Cinema. Over the course of four years the Periwinkle team has worked with over forty queer artists from the US and Canada to bring a monthly screening of Avant guard queer short films and features.

Martine Syms My Only Idol Is Reality (2012) is a conceptual entrepreneur based in Los Angeles who uses publishing, video, and performance to look at the making and reception of meaning in contemporary America. Martine runs Dominica, a media platform dedicated to exploring blackness as a topic, reference, marker and audience in popular culture.

Naima Lowe Mary and Sarah, You and Me (2008) Naima Lowe's films, videos, performances and writings have been seen at the Athens International Film and Video Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Anthology Film Archive, The Knitting Factory, The Stella Elkins Tyler Gallery, The International Toy Theater Exhibition, and Judson Memorial Church. In her work she maintains a collaborative and participatory sensibility that honors my identities and resists the social conditions that keep people isolated. Naima is currently a member of the faculty at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA.

Tina Takemoto Looking for Jiro (2011) Tina Takemoto is an artist and associate professor of visual studies at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Her work examines issues of race, queer identity, memory, and grief. Her current project explores the hidden dimensions of same-sex intimacy and queer sexuality for Japanese Americans incarcerated by the US government during World War II.

Cinema Outsider is a quarterly screening series dedicated to showcasing groundbreaking, and at times provocative short experimental and non-fiction films, videos, animations, video art, and performance projects by queer, trans, and non-binary people of color. The first edition of Cinema Outsider is being presented in conjunction with FemmeFest, a 4-day collection of musical, artistic, and educational events in Columbus, Ohio that works to honor women of diverse identities and gender expressions in a celebration of creative resilience and power. 100% of FemmeFest Festival proceeds go to BRAVO (Buckeye Regional Anti-Violence Organization).
