The Weeping Angels are really scary until you realize if any organism sees them they are fucked so they get hard countered by geckos, who don't blink and can see in the dark. If the Doctor strapped like two geckos onto him he'd be fine.

gamers who spam through tutorial instructions or skip cutscenes and then complain that the gameplay is frustratingly unintuitive or that the story sucks are equivalent to those online cooking weirdos where they substitute carrots for chocolate and then complain to the author of the article that the recipe is a failure. bestie perhaps look inwards
I low-key love the fact that sci-fi has so conditioned us to expect to be hanging out with a bunch of cool space aliens, that legitimate, actual scientists keep proposing the most bizarre, three-blunts-into-the-rotation "theories" to explain the fact we're not.
Some of my favourites include:
Zoo Theory: What if there are loads of aliens out there, but they're not talking to us because of the Prime Directive from Star Trek? (Or because they're doing experiments on us???)
Dark Forest Theory: What if there are loads of aliens out there, but they all hate us and each other so they're all just waiting with a shotgun pointed at the door, ready to open fire on anything that moves?
Planetarium Theory: What if there's at least one alien with mastery over light and matter that's just making it seem to us that the universe is empty to us as, like, a joke?
Berserker Theory: What if there were loads of aliens, but one of them made infinite killer robots that murdered everyone and are coming for us next?!!
Like, the universe is at least 13,700,000,000 years old and 46,000,000,000 light years big. We have had the ability to transmit and receive signals for, what, 100 years, and our signals have so far travelled 200 light years?
The fact is biological life almost certainly has, does, or will develop elsewhere in the universe, and it's not impossible that a tiny amount of it has, does, or will develop in a way that we would understand as "intelligent". But, like, we're realistically never going to know because of the scale of the things involved.
So I'm proposing my own hypothesis. I call it the "Fool in a Field" hypothesis. It goes like this:
Humanity is a guy standing in the middle of a field at midnight. It's pitch black, he can't move, and he's been standing there for ages. He's just had the thought to swing his arms. He swings one of his arms, once, and does not hit another person. "Oh no!" He says. "Robots have killed them all!"
I’m so ready chat
According to color theory, brown has more positive connotations than negative. Brown is associated with nature, stability, and warmth. Also a rich neutral tone goes well with most decor.

concept for a tv show: a cute simple love story between an assistant and a chauffeur or bodyguard or whatever else rich people have and in the background the rich people are having the wildest telenovela level drama that we only catch glimpses of
(Flustered assistant) "So... do you want to go on a coffee date?" (Very flustered bodyguard) "I'd love to!"
(While they're looking at eachother cutely, we hear a woman screaming in the background "WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CHEATED ON ME WITH MY BROTHER???" . Then somebody jumps off a window)
Exactly you get me
College should be free and you should be able to study “useless” degrees just for the love of learning

I love when an IP is so fucking old and ironclad and its core modern audience is so indecipherable and hard to easily segment that their social team just does whatever
Women scientists made up 25% of the Pluto fly-by New Horizon team. Make sure you share this, because erasing women’s achievements in science and history is a tradition. Happens every day.

70 seconds over 9 years and 3 billion miles…
…I just… Damn
Launch to Pluto flyby for New Horizons took 3,580 days, and she was off by 70 seconds. That’s like… That’s an error of 0.000000226%.
That’s fucking insane.
That’s not even a rounding error!
Thank you for putting words & numbers to my awe of her precision.
Don’t forget that not only was the flight long, it also involved a gravity assist from Jupiter, meaning the calculations had to account for the probe whipping around our solar systems largest planet and being flung off towards Pluto after already speeding away from earth for a full year.

Me when I catch myself thinking "I wonder what it's like to be chosen by somebody" but then I remember my best friend chooses to be my best friend and my mutuals choose to follow me and the minimum wage employee chooses to give me sincere kindness that I remember years later because I was going through a hard time and it meant a lot
