What Does It All Mean?
The Risk Propensity Index chart measures propensity for risk vs. safety and stability. The free-of-charge result gives a qualitative indication as to what your personal index is. The premium result includes an exact numeric score on a scale of 0 to 100.

Here is what Jon and I have learned in thiry years of providing psychiatric care for hundreds of Isacs since we graduated without a clue.
The person who most needs understanding is the least likely to be understood. What you see is not what you get. Everyone has a story, and if you don't know the story you are likely to misconstrue words, feelings, and actions. You won't see the fear that lies behind their anger, for instance. Or you'll interpret their distance as arrogance rather than shame.
The person most at risk of illness and harm is the least equipped to provide self-care. A person needs to feel safe above all else. A person under threat will do just about anything to feel safer. Sometimes those actions are unhealthy and self-destructive, as illustrated by some of the things Isaac has done to feel safe: smoking, using lots of drugs, running away from home, arguing, keeping a baseball bat under the bed, and refusing hospital care. You need to know a person and their story to see how they are using their strengths to protect themselves.
The person who most needs a relationship is most afraid of it. Heal ing emerges out of relationships. It might be a partner or a therapist, a family member, a sponsor, or someone else. But healing from trauma requires a relationship. It makes sense; the harm that was done almost always occurred within a relationship, usually in violation of all of the safery and respect that the relationship was supposed to provide.
Learning to trust, to share, to care, is sometimes a bridge too far for a survivor of trauma. Sometimes it requires more than a partner or therapist can offer. Indeed, Isaac's story illustrates that when a therapist accepts that responsibility, it comes with a risk of getting caught in friendly fire. The same is true for partners, family members, and friends. But when healing occurs, it usually happens within relationships that are reliable enough, tolerant enough, and supportive enough:

Modern health care has all but lost sight of how critical the relationship between health care providers and patients is for care, healing, and prevention. It is the context in which a story that has been fractured by fear can be restored to coherence and the container within which intoler able emotions can resolve into understandable ones. The change that the health care system requires to provide better care to patients like Isaac includes a restoration of the centrality of the relationship between health care providers and patients.
That means promoting health care relationships that are continuous over time, so patient and provider come to know each other; where providers listen more and interrupt less, and where the goal of most health care interactions becomes helping patients with their problems - which is a very different goal than diagnosing and treating their diseases, different enough to be revolutionary.
In healthcare, the more we succeed, the more disease our patients live with. What could reduce the burden of disease that we live with, and the cost of healthcare, would be to prevent chronic diseases and reduce the burden of the that they cause. One of the keys to accomplishing those goals is hiding in plain sight; it is improving the relationships in which health care occurs.
