People who’re trying to “This is just Tumblr” their way out of being informed about Palestine (re: a genocide) are so fucking weird. This is a social media. Thousands of dollars have been raised from people sharing information about Palestine on Tumblr. Just say you’re not saying anything bc you care more about your Tumblr blog aesthetic—or because you don’t want to put the effort into learning what’s happening. Like just own up to not giving a fuck
it’s so grotesque how we’re 6 months into an ongoing genocide & yet some people have the gal to go “I’m not political!!” Why are you trying to make it seem as impersonal as possible. This is not about politics. Lots of people on here aren’t polsci majors but they have the one and a half brain cells necessary to go “genocide bad.” Like the whole “this is too complex” thing needs to go already. It was reported as of a couple days ago that Palestinian deaths have surpassed 32,000—and that’s not counting those buried under rubble. Have some shame and humanity.
I guess it doesn’t really surprise me that a majority white website would have takes like this. The big unspoken thing on here is that a lot of people see “the Middle East” as one large entity, w no diversity or culture, and third-world fodder (Arabs) dying in it is just every other Sunday. A lot of people on here have to go out of their way—and struggle—to humanize Arabs. So of course it’s not their problem & it’s their blog & they get to post whatever they want on it. To them Arab lives mean less inherently.
