“It was worth a shot... Though, to be fair I really wasn’t doing anything too terribly suspicious... I ate the last brownie and I had already eaten like... 5 today...”

“It’s all good, sport,” he replied in a loving fashion, examining his phone further. It turned off, which could be a bad sign or a simply false alarm. Back on his feet, he shrugged and offered his nephew a sheepish smile. “I wasn’t aware of my surroundings. Eh, I think it’ll live.”

He smiled back “Yeah, I need to pay more attention to where I’m walking. Sometimes I get so lost in my thoughts that I totally zone out.”

“Could I be any MORE tired?” Alex whined as she sat down with a slight grimace appearing on her face.

“You’re still talking with coherent phrases, so I’m going to say yes. You could be more tired”

“I woke up at four in the morning and baked chocolate chip cookies. It would make me really happy if you take one and tell me what you think. Be honest on what you think of them, okay? I haven’t done chocolate chip cookies before”

As he bumped into someone, the phone he had been keeping a keen eye on fell from his hands and dropped to the floor. “Dammit,” he cursed under his breath before kneeling down to pick it up, praying there was little to no damage to the device.

“I would prefer not to be charged of any crime while I’m back,” She tried to lighten up the situation, but the ache at the back of her throat wasn’t ending. She broke the hug, because se didn’t know how much longer she could hold onto him without ripping out his jugular. “Hey, Owen. I’m fine now, okay. Can you take me to your place, I’m not sure I want to see my family just yet.” She asked wrapping her arms around herself.

He sighed “Okay, I get that. I’ll find someway to get you some.” He nodded “Yeah, definitely. My apartment is right around the corner. Are you okay to walk?”

“It’s alright, don’t worry about it.” He gave her a reassuring smile “Everything okay?”

“You’re very hard to forget Owen, I’m not sure I need a snake to be remind of you.” She gave him a small smile. “We haven’t talked in awhile, how is everything?”

“You do have a point. Maybe call him Sir Hiss then, that sounds like a good snake name.” He grinned, “Everything is good. Or as good as they can be in this town I guess”
