I'm re-reading This Devotion May Contain Side-Effects by @owepossum and the breakfast pretzel has been haunting my dreams! So my partner and I decided to make them this morning! Yum š„Øš³š„š§
been reading (and rereading ā) devotions to the point it has become a research project. going over the tags and Big Feelsā¢ to see Viktor Is In Love With Jayce vs Jayce Is Obsessed With Viktor. highly supportive of allo/aro/ace interpretations and content. but wondering if poor Viki is doomed to a life of pining. Seeing the parallels between young!Jayce and Vander and the dramatic irony of knowing how canon!Jayce's and Viktor's relationship plays out leaves a reader wondering where does it all go...

Loved your fanfic. Itās top tier fr. And Iām obsessed with it. I do have a question that idk if it was something intentional or Iām reading too much into it. While I was reading, specifically around the middle, I kinda got the impression that Silco and Vander view the kids differently? Like. I feel Silco has the distinction that Viktor is his baby, while Vi and Powpow are Leshaās babies. He feels more like a loving uncle, devoted and caring, but within the boundaries of not being the parent. Meanwhile Vander feels like he views all the kids as his? He gives me the vibes that he doesnāt see that distinction as much. And Iām not saying one loves more the kids than the other, itās just idk, the vibes they give me. I know thereās not nuclear family or strict labels here, but itās thing thatās been picking my brain. Am I reading too much into it? Anyway. HOPE you have a lovely weekend, dearest <33
This is something Iāve kinda felt in a nebulous way but not necessarily been super intentional about ā so itās c cool how you summarise your reading of this! I think Sil has grown up ostracised for a lot of his childhood, by peers and adults alike. I wonder if he identifies or feels kinship w Viktor and so they bonded in a way that he hasnāt with the other children (powder is very little atm).
You could say that Vander and Violet have a special bond too but I think Sil is more protective of his bond w vik? Iām not too familiar with attachment styles but I do think Sil oscillates between fear of abandonment and detached something something.
I also think the fact kids in general gravitate to Vander easily (rather than Sil) might also shape the way he behaves towards them. Vik kinda clung to Sil very early on and Sil felt āchosenā (even if he misattributes this mostly to visual resemblance w viks mum)
i was devastated to read Jayce getting caught so fast mostly cuz i wanna see him and Paua duke it out. Like, Viktor's biggest fans would be each other's biggest haters. Plus Paua having the rune stone probably would make Jayce mad too
Ahhh I had so many different paths I considered but I realised that Jayce would not have reached the last drop unharmed omg ;ā; heās a walking dumpling >ā¦< alas. But I do love powder vs Jayce animosity energy ā stay tunedā¦ šā¤ļø
I think on of my favorite parts of this devotion may contain side effects is the ways in which you foreshadowing the fact that little future Jinx is clearly already experiencing hallucinations, and that she clearly got it from Felicia. You lay the groundwork beautifully where I actively went back and reread bit going oooooh and catching on to what's happening.
also i know it's not published yet, but i'm biting the drywall already over your prequel content looking at Silco, Vander and Felicia. You write them all so well, and heartbreakingly. She was doomed by the narrative and as is Ned. Gotta love the 'this character is walking dead, we all know they're dead, but readers are going to love 'em before they go"
I may have other thoughts, can't wait to see how people fall into their respective canon slots, or who's breaking the mold...cuz we've still got a LOT of years before we even hit the start of s1arc1 plot stuff >:D
Also, final thought for now (will have more later) but the parallels of the final wounds that the zaundads inflicting on each other leading to it rotting out and having to be removed? *glorious chefs kiss*

Itās a fascinating dynamic to write; everyoneās motives has motives š¤£ I think Silco and Anton both hold eachother in high regard but the nature of that regard doesnāt fully matchā¦ itās a Venn diagram not a circle alas.
Anton has set up this perfect family cosplay for years heās pretty pleased with himself right now. Look at all the renovations he did on the house!!!
In Devotions Silco mentions that he plans on going back to Zaun (after getting some things in order). Iāve been wondering about the timeline on that. Less about the politics and more about Viktor missing out on his younger siblings growing up. Do you think theyāll have a reunion sooner than the big confrontation between Silco and Vander in the show?
Also, Iāve been wondering about Viktorās response to Vander if/when they meet again. At the start, Vik was scared of Vander because of his size and the threat he posed to him. And unfortunately, Vander proved little Vikās fears right. Iām also now thinking about how Vi, Jinx, and Ekko will view Vander if they find out what he did to Vik.
Anyway, I know most of these questions would mean spoiling the story so no worries if you donāt answer.

I could make a general server but I donāt feel like Devotions is big enough (or that Iām well known) enough for this server to have more than like. Idek. 6.5 active users omg. But I guess that doesnāt matter (?!)
I could make one if people would actually benefit. I love being able to chat fandom squee. I wish there was a way for example to send all asks to a discord just to SAVE THEM in case tumblr goes downā¦
