When I look at ripe, heavy sunflowers, bending to the ground with blackened seeds...I see firmament and the stars.

Went to the Anselm Kiefer exhibit at the Royal Academy of Art yesterday afternoon. One of my favorite paintings was Die Orden der Nacht ("The Orders of the Night"), which has Kiefer gazing at sunflowers. This constellation of sunflowers serves as a conduit between the earthly and the celestial, and the painting is still resonating with me today. I dig.

Day 9:  Combined Iftar and World Cup dinner with my flatmates

We went a tad bit overboard, but I enjoyed cooking, eating, and watching the World Cup final. We had over 12 items to eat, 33% of which fell into the desserts category.

Day 8: Made (World Cup) Cookies

In honor of the World Cup I made some chocolate chip cookies. The entire flat smelled like goodness during the second half of the match.

Day 5: Pairing With Ben 

Today I got to pair with Ben at Codebar. We refactored code and fixed a broken feature.  Not only did I learn a lot, but I got to implement a fairly cool feature.  I'm very fortunate that I get to pair with a senior developer every week.
