imagine if you will, in a world of heroes, villains, gods and monsters, aliens, spies and the like, a social science students was adopted as the younger sibling of a mercenary company and dealing with a world of secrets, have no care what so ever for when they are in danger because they know how the games goes.
They are sassy and they own it and many mercenaries, spies, villains, and heroes are so confused while the mercenary company are laughing in the background.
Ryland Grace who collapses from not being able to breathe, because his body is in crisis mode because he got sick with an eridian bacteria that somehow triggered his body in thinking he on the Hail Mary surviving excessive centrifugal force and malnourished. Rocky is by his side, a warm anchor when Grace's body starts to struggle with maintaining homeostasis.
Rocky thinks Grace is going to die from this sickness, that he's going to die like his crew mates did on the Blip-A from radiation.
Ryland, Colt and Courtland are murder by their father when he finds a go bag.
Ryland is shot in the chest five times, two bullet puncturing his left lung, one in his liver, two in his gut. he was also beaten and suffered a head injury.
Colt is shot four times and beaten, two ribs pierce his lung while a bullet is trapped in his liver, and three in his belly.
Courtland is beaten to near death, tortured for several days, his brothers watching before they are shot. He is shot nine times, one in his leg, two in his arm, one in his lung, one in his stomach, two in his intestines, and one in each shoulder.
But Courtland puts up a fight, he kills his father with a headshot before collapsing.
Police and emergency services find three near dead boys and one dead man.
Police try to arrest Courtland because his prints on the gun, but one of the EMTs intervenes, saying that Courtland is going to die, why try and prosecute him.
All three boys are taken to the hospital and taken to surgery, put in separate rooms under false names to protect them, but all three are not recovering. Ryland is sick, Colton is suffering from seizures, and Courtland's body is fighting the equipment. a nurse moves them together into a large room, again, under hidden names and not registered in the system officially (they are in the system, just away from the prying eyes of the law (illegal and dangerous, but a sacrifice some medical staff are willing to make.)).
Police are out for Courtland's blood, they want him dead, in jail for life, they try to storm the hospital with a warren but fail.
Although the Gentry brothers are recovering, they're sick, injured and any more stress could take their lives.
It's a battle of Wits between police and medical, lawyers have to intervene, the state has to intervene (begrudgingly), advocate groups step forward.
A case is built, evidence collected, police don't comply, Mr.Gentry was a good man (according to them) he was a "grieving" widower and the children were just being kids.
but without the kids, there is a trial of a deadman, but no evidence to do so otherwise.
So Lawyers look into the boy's family. Father's side doesn't interact with them, Mother's side is quiet. but there is one man that Mrs.Gentry has been in contact with.
PI Holland March gets a call as get's ready for bed. News of his nephews Courtland, Colt and Ryland in the hospital and Courtland probably to face trial when he recovers. PI Jackson Healy listens as he does his crossword. watches as March places the phone back on the receiver and swears like a sailor. With Holly, the Nice guys make a plan and head to Florida where they confront Police trying to block them and Courtland is laid back as medical personnel do CPR while the twins suffer from seizures.
Holland March works on getting all three in his custody, smokes and liquor no longer staining his breath or blurring his mind. he testifies in court to what his former brother-in-law has done to his sister.
It's not perfect, and there is still a lot of legal paperwork to do, but right now all three boys are under his care and will be flown over to California (again, risky and dangerous, but necessary). Police are unhappy, they try to stop the process, try to kidnap Courtland Gentry, now Courtland March like thieves in the night, but that fails and PI March with evidence and scary dog Healy who makes sure no one gets close to the boys.
The legal battle is still going on, but Courtland, Ryland and Colt are in a hospital where the police are trying not to kill them on purpose...
I am sporadic when comes to talking about my OCs and I only talk about Ella/Gail and Aylin because those two are my favorite, but there are others.
another one of them is Nina, she is the youngest Finch in the batfamily and is a mix of indigenous and European ancestry from an Ecuadorian-Peruvian family. she is the daughter if immigrants and has a bad shoulder from being shot as a child and living on the streets since she was four years old and then living with Bruce.
anyways, as a Wayne, Nina enjoys a certain amount of freedom, but she has always been described as cozy: She likes puzzles and knitting(Crocheting) whenever she gets the chance, sharing food with others (mostly candy that Bruce buys from Ecuador and Peru) and napping. this often contrasted with her more fiery and hyper nature that most people are familiar with because chronic pain injuries from a shoulder that didn't heal right and repeatedly going out to fight crime in a small mech tends to make her a bit feral because she's trying to ignore it.
Anyways, Dick decides that it's a good idea to take some of Nina's candy stash and she finds out and hunts down Dick, taking how down with a Sandel launcher (her design )to the stomach.
Nina has a bit of reputation for acting like an old lady at times because of some of her hobbies and her older siblings all call her Abuela because she has big Abuela energy.
Jason is the one to witness the Sandel launcher and Dick taking a sandal to the stomach.
Anyways, he gets an idea and yells out; "Hey, nice shot Big Abuela!" and Dick, seeing an opportunity agrees with Jason.
The nickname spreads to the rest of the batfamily, Nina tries to fight it, the other finches: Aylin and Hannah, don't use it, but the name sticks and the nickname Big Abuela stays for a really long time.
The funny thing is, the bat fam use Big Abuela everywhere sans galas and school, and the nickname throws many people off because people think that Bruce recruited a hispanic grandma to join his cause, nope! it's Nina (of Finch in this case) who is just there and doing her thing and she turns around and tilts her head and asks what's wrong?
the heroes still don't get it, till they actually see Nina doing the things as mentioned above: giving out candy, knitting, crocheting, taking naps in the oddest places, threatening someone with a sandal. They get it kind of.
The villains are confused until they get hit with a sandal launcher Sandal and hear the most cursed war cry said in feral screeched Spanish or when Finch gives them Ecuadorian candy (that's not chocolate covered) while waiting for the GCPD.
Big Abuela gets used as a nickname and cover name for many years, even when Nina becomes a grandmother and she is the remaining bat family member to survive.
So I twisted my ankle today while out. it hurts, I either have to hope or walk very carefully on it.
I wanted to work on reorganizing my bookshelf, but I'm stuck.
So Grace with a twisted ankle. Post PHM, post meeting Simon (bloodymary au).
Grace should be staying still and resting but he isn't. He trying to work on stuff, but standing in his ankle is not great and he has to sit down often.
Rocky is trying to keep him on the bed or in a chair, but Grace tells Rocky he's fine and then limps off.
hitting his head against the wall. he enlists Simon to help wrangle Grace to bed.
Simon sighs, agrees and stands up. He approaches Ryland and then scoops him up.
Grace shrieks in surprise and thrashes around like a cat trying to get back to his thing.
Simon, stalwart, tired of Grace's bullshit Simon sighs and then tips Grace upside down.
"Continue walking on that leg, and you won't get better," he tells Grace matter-of-factly.
Grace grumbles and Simon rights Grace up and takes them back to their room.

There are people who see PHM as a threat to their position.
There are people who hate Dr.Grace even more.
There are three attempts on his life. One in his lab that happens during a severe storm at sea. Resulting in being crushed by heavy lab equipment and nearly drowning.
The second is a gas attack that attacks his nervous system.
The third is a gun shot to the back. The bullet ripping through muscle, bone and organ like a knife through butter.Â
When that doesn’t deter Stratt or the other members of Project Hail Mary as the time for launch gets closer.
However those who don’t believe in the harm of astrophage do one more thing.
They kidnap Grace and beat him, mutilate him, humiliate him, breaking him. They send Stratt videos, they send pieces of Grace, mocking her, laughing at the pain they were causing her scientist.
Stratt refuses to be Cowed, she has people track the videos, finding where Grace is being held.
Stratt and Carl assembled a team, having pin pointed his location and preparing to meet this group in court to make their lives hell.
Carl goes because he feels responsible.
They find an underground bunker in Western Europe, Grace is weak, vitals sinking and barely hanging on.
His body is thin from starvation, and being forced fed, he’s covered in various injuries, all surgical or inflicted. Grace is sick, he’s hot to the touch and his eyes are glassy despite the obvious injuries to them.Â
Getting Grace out is the easy part, keeping him alive as they travel back to the new base location is the hard part.
They get him to the base and to medical.
Fate one:
Dr. Ryland Grace dies on the table, body spent and weak form months of torture.
Dubois and Shapiro are separated and monitored to make sure they aren’t working together. Hail Mary is launched into Space.
Fate two:
Grace survives surgery and is really weak. Recovery is slow. While the medical staff for the Hail Mary work on improving the nanny bot with more medical knowledge and procedures for more serious conditions.
Grace collapsed after a month of recovery, lung infection and respiratory distress leading to respiratory failure. His condition is unstable and there is no way that many of medical would let Stratt send Grace into space when his body is failing him.
(See fate one for ending)
Fate three:
Grace survives and makes significant recovery. Though his body is still weak. The explosion happens and Grace refuses and tries to run away. He is drugged and brought onto the Hail Mary. He dies with the others.
Fate four:
Grace survives and makes a significant recovery. He has to be careful. Relegated to light work.
Dubois and Shapiro die in astrophage explosion and Grace is sent to space.
He survives the coma and the events with Rocky happen.
Grace saves Rocky and goes to Erid, old injuries opening up form scurvy. Ryland Grace dies on Erid after saving 40 Eridani.
Fate five:
Grace survives and is shipped to Space. He turns back to save Rocky and goes to Erid. Grace is sick and nearly dies of old injuries from earth along with every sickness caused by starvation and severe malnutrition. the Eridans save his life. Grace spends the rest of his life on Erid.
(Tortured Grace happens, but now Simon has to deal with the aftermath. also while working on this, I wanted to include more Grace dying, but yeah... it got too sad)
(click on the keep reading to read all the sad stuff)
Scenario one:
Ryland Grace finds the Iron Lung floating in space and in the sub, he finds Simon. Simon, who is somehow alive but also retaining his injuries from the events in his world.
Ryland and Rocky investigate and bring Simon onto the ship.
Simon is unconscious for most of the journey to Erid, supplies dwindles, but Ryland figures how to make more coma slurry for Simon. Ryland suffers because of his own stubbornness and collapsing sometime before they reach Erid, old injuries opening up due to scurvy.
Simon learns what happened to Ryland and begs Ryland to take care of himself.
Ryland dies in his arms and Simon spends the rest of his days alone on Erid, mourning.
Scenario two:
Much like the first scenario, Ryland and Rocky find the iron lung and bring Simon aboard their ship. Simon is in a coma for most of the journey to Erid and wakes up before they arrive. Supplies are limited, but Grace has figured out how to help Simon. However, Grace collapses, two days after Simon wakes and Simon freaks out along with Rocky.
Simon, who is still weak, tries to take care of Grace, but his body is not recovered enough to help.
Both of them heal, and Ryland recovers enough to wake. Simon and Ryland Grace spend the rest of their lives on Erid.
Scenario Three:
Grace and Rocky end up in the Iron Lung universe within the Iron Lung. They meet Simon and when C.O.I learn that Grace is a scientist, they bring the sub back up.
Ryland pleads for Simon to stay with him and Rocky, acting as their bodyguard.
The C.O.I agrees, however they are hesitant. This clues in Grace how the world of Iron Lung works and Simon explaining things to Grace and Rocky. The C.O.I tries to send Simon down again, explaining he is soldier of Eden, a dangerous religious cult, he is a butcher and a terrible person.
Ryland refuses, getting in front of Simon and saying he knows and doesn’t care.
Someone tries to shoot Simon, seeing he is no longer useful. The bullet hits Ryland instead and Ryland dies in Simon and Rocky’s arms.
Rocky and Simon die afterwards.
Scenario four:
This angers the C.O.I and they put all three on the Iron Lung.
The events of the Iron Lung happen + Rocky and Grace and after facing Ellie, Rocky and Grace end up back in their universe along with Simon.
Scenario five:
The Iron Lung crash lands on Erid and the Eridians help Simon despite having no idea how to treat humans.
They create a dome for him and take care of his wounds.
Adrian becomes Simon’s caretaker and friend on Erid. Simon also learned about Astrophage.
Time would pass, Simon has more or less made a place for himself and has learned how to garden Eridian plants.
The Hail Mary appears and Simon learns there is another human on board, sick and dying.
Ryland Grace is brought onto Erid, starved, sick, and covered in injuries from earth and Adrian.
Simon helps Ryland’s medical team, and along with the knowledge that Rocky had learned from Grace’s laptop to help treat his scurvy, Beri Beri and old injuries that bleed heavily.
When Ryland sees Simon for a brief moment in his weakened state, he panicked, stuck in the memory of his last day on earth. This breaks Simon’s heart and when Ryland falls back into unconsciousness, Simon takes to learning how to help Ryland.
With Grace’s translator, Simon communicates with the Eridians properly for the first time and he along with Adrian and Rocky and the human care team, they help make a dome for Grace and help him recover from Malnutrition and other things.
When Ryland is a little more healthy, the Eridians, mostly Adrian and Rocky, reintroduce Ryland and Simon like cats. It takes awhile, but the two men start to feel comfortable with each other and share bits about themselves that they remember.
Ryland Grace and Simon as cats (actual cats) being introduced by their humans Rocky and Adrian over several weeks because both of them are traumatized and recovering.
Ryland- large cat, abused by previous owner and taken from his litter too early. Found in the middle of the desert malnourished and suffering from Pneumonia (which cats can suffer from) along with other health problems. Has terrible anxiety and is clingy and easily frightened.
Simon- mixed breed of wild and domestic cat breeds. used to live in a church and hunt mice before being beaten and found by Adrian and Rocky drowning in a lake, missing a limb and covered very serious injuries that dyed his fur red along with radiation poisoning. also has terrible anxiety and is clingy and easily frightened.
Both cats had to recover in separate rooms and would stay close to their respective humans (Ryland with Rocky, Simon with Adrian).
The cats started to get to known each other when they smelt each other on their respective human.
Rocky and Adrian would swap their clothes, then toys, then things like carriers or beds (with covers, Ryland was picky about his bed smelling like him).
Then interaction through the door, then in a neutral room with a barrier between them, lots of hissing from Ryland and some from Simon. eating in front of each other seemed to help.
Then there was supervised play time (Adrian and Rocky don't trust either cat to not hurt each other when both are in a vulnerable position.)
Ryland and Simon got along like a house on fire. They slept near each other, played with each other, comforted one another, shared food and treats (that was a surprise for Rocky and Adrian) and alerted the humans when one was feeling sick.
The speech buttons made Simon and Ryland menaces though, Simon used litter box as an stress and denoter, Ryland practically begged for butt pats, sometimes pressing buttons in random order that made sentences that didn't make any sense.
But Rocky and Adrian love their cats and would not have then any other way.

So, having watched Project Hail Mary and read the book and consumed a lot of content related to PHM, Bloodymary (Simon x Ryland Grace), Coltlandgentry and Coltland twins (mostly fan fiction with the occasional video.)
There is a lot of stuff, but one head cannon that is related to Rocky and I shared with one person IRL is this...
Rocky (either in the ball or the EVA suit for interacting with Grace in his biodom or the ship) will corral Grace by literally bonking Grace in the leg to corral Grace to bed
Imagine for a moment,
Grace is working in the lab and it is late, well late as it can the not on earth.
Rocky, who has taken to keeping Grace alive and function because he (Rocky) has been alone for a long time and Grace has been his friend for many years and Rocky rather not have a repeat of the "Incident" *(pick your poison).
Anyways, Grace is staying up, Rocky notices that Grace is making mistakes and Grace needs to sleep. Grace tells Rocky he's fine and just needs to finish up some task (again, pick your poison) and Rocky is unhappy.
This goes on for awhile-
Rocky: Grace sleep now? Question?
Grace: Give me five minutes Rock.
(five minutes pass)
Rocky: Grace ready to sleep now, Question?
Grace: Almost done Rock-
You get the point.
This becomes an endless loop of yes and no and Rocky hates it. So he takes matter into his claws.
Rocky approaches Grace (either sitting or standing) and bonks him on the leg with his carapace and pushes Grace to bed.
Grace flails and tries to stop Rocky, but the bossy and lovable engineer is 800 lbs rock spider the size of Labrador and the stubbornness to match.
Grace pleads, begs, demands Rocky stop pushing him to bed. He has to finish up the task, there is protocol he needs to follow.
Rocky is not happy and reminds Grace he is stupid without sleep. Grace is offended, but Rocky, Grace knows, is right.
So he heads to bed, after he makes sure to have the "task" stored away with Rocky standing over his shoulder. But he heads to his room and goes to sleep.
(this becomes a thing when you include Simon helping in "corralling Grace" Duty, I.e. throwing Ryland over his shoulder like a bag of potatoes. and/or Adrian, also a scientist, also has the same problem of going to sleep as Grace, and now Rocky has two of them to deal with.)
(or, including, Rocky knowing that Grace has trouble going to sleep after learning how he was force into a coma, promising to wake him up form any nightmare.)
People use that phrase to describe a woman who is angry and cruel. but there is something more dangerous than a scorned woman.
A woman, a man, and a person who knows the game of society is a lie.
Bruce noticed it with Aylin, the younger vigilante with eyes like steal and walnut that tightened around the eyes and lips. Every word said by a shareholder or otherwise scrutinized till she chased them away.
Of course, there was more. gods, weather from planets several light years away or of other realm seem to look at Aylin and Hannah and Nina and see women and girls and the people they spent time with as something "worth the danger."
But Aylin, defiant and kind and bigger than life that people barely knew how to deal with, played their game in such a way that revealed their "tricks."
Some took the humiliation with grace, others did not.
Their mistake was assuming that Aylin would be cowed by attempts of degradation, but that pushed Aylin onwards, she kept going even when some of those people, gods, benevolent and malevolent, aliens, cross dimensional and many others slowly moved her from someone to toy with, to a threat to their ways.
Those people's biggest mistake however, was underestimating the connections that Aylin had.
It wasn't just Bruce and the Batfamily or the League or the Avengers or the Titans or Young justice or others.
No.
This included the Odd eyes open mercenary group and their mentor, and his family. This included beings like the ghost king and the ascendant, this included gods from previous galaxies, Nephilim bound by shadows. This included people in hidden places and the Endless who each called her powerful.
This corner of Aylin included the very personification of power who had left her mark on Aylin when she was twelve years old.
Aylin was admired, protected and revered. Aylin was a force given human form and a name held many meanings.
Aylin, the moon; a symbol of change, of femininity and nature. Aylin- the woman who lit the shadows with voice and compassion and a fierceness that matched the other parts of her name.
Aylin Tamara Maria Ismailova, named after the fiercest people in her family and in her history.
A woman who was protector, caretaker, anchor, lover, parent, sister, daughter, performer, hero, mercenary, a force of nature, and a servant of power whose existence defied all people's exceptions.
This was Aylin, and there was nothing that could stop her save her own bright flame that would soon extinguish, though Bruce doubt even Death or Dominion would let that flame go out completely.
So I'm listening to the "Score suite x Towards the sun" and it is giving me ideas for a hero.
this hero is a singer, an actor, but they are also powerful, they have a will that is dominating.
they don't have any powers, but they are marked by various gods, their will, and audacity against any higher power makes them both an ally and enemy. these marks are like shadow hunter runes, but also function like a summoning mark.
(not mine)
But do you see the vision.
A hero so defiant and has the audacity to use music to beat any god-like villain!
arts degrees r so funny because you go in class and theyre like What Is A Poem? we dont know for sure... and then moral of the story is we don't know what a poem is. and then the worst part of it is that theyre right
