Sirius Black and James Potter did not need Remus lupin and lily Evans help to pass their OWLs and NEWTs.
Every time someone unironically writes James Potter or Sirius Black as an idiot a piece of my soul dies
if it was remus’ family who was murdered by voldemort and sirius was the supposed culprit, james would never have accepted it. i genuinely believe he would go to the ends of the earth just to look sirius in the face and see the truth for himself.
I think I can classify mother of learning as dark academia. Mainly for two reasons:
First reason is the main character prioritizing not only learning and improving his own magical prowess, but also going out of his way to research and study dark magic. Oh I have the natural ability to read people’s minds and mess with their memories? Sign me up. Oh, necromancy and soul magic is something that’s useful to me? Sign me up. Oh blood magic can enhance my magical abilities? Sign me up. Oh I need a bigger cash flow to fund my golems and obscure magical devices? Sign me up. Oh my enemies have these secret magic spells I might need? Let me rob their houses and steal it.
The other reason is the amount of times our main character get jealous of his friend and brothers over how much better they are at either being social or being better at magic then him despite how much effort he puts in. Or, likewise, the amount of times his friends get jealous of him being better at something they spend their entire lives honing.
It gets them motivated to try harder. A lot of characters have this need to try their hardest not to get left behind. Heck, even a nine year old is motivated to get better at something she doesn’t even need to focus on yet. And let’s not forget the villain that has our MC in a desperate bid to get better at magic so he’s not at a disadvantage the next time they clash.
Let’s not forget his paranoid personality and the fact that nobody trusts him to speak the truth or believes he’ll do the right thing if it clashes with his self preservation. (not even spiritual entities trust him with that lol)
Let’s not forget the demanding teachers too. They demand excellence but they also would make you throw hands if they ever taught you. If this doesn’t spell dark academia, I don’t know what does
Nesta has fire in her blood, and she fucks like it, too
I just love this
There ain't nothing quite like two men intrinsically linked across space and time involved in grand, mysterious, and complicated plots that will in some way end the 'world'
two guys trapped ina time loop but one is pretending not to be and gaslighting the other guy soooo hard
The mother of learning arc 4 audible narrator, Jack Vorces, ends the book with Xvim’s voice saying “start over”. So naturally, I will be. Going back to Arc one and meeting baby Zorian and reliving all his anti social antics <3
one of the funniest thing about chris is he is simultaneously a terrible liar and great at hiding the truth. like you Know he’s lying to you but good fuckin luck trying to figure out what’s actually going on. the only thing you know is it’s definitely Not what he’s telling you
Honestly, I live for Azriel’s disobedience. It’s hot. Going up against your superior for love and even just for the sake of true loyalty to what is right is so freaking hot. I want to see more of that disobedience. Unapologetically.
Elriel has gone their whole lives doing everything for others and still being silenced. They’ll be silenced no more.
Look Rhys in the eyes and say “Yes, I am seeing her.”
Look Rhys in the eyes and say “I love her and I’ll be damned if I give her up. Not when she feels the same.”
I'm just sitting here thinking over how Elain has never seen Lucien in his element.
She's never seen him around friends throwing his head back in true laughter, never completely at ease.
Each time they've been together it's been something. She was depressed or had just lost her father or he just had to flee his home, was gearing up for a dangerous mission, fought in his first war, his actions were heavily monitored by someone in the IC, or he knew there was tension with him being there because of his past with Tamlin or Elain's avoidance of their bond (which physically and emotionally affected him).
But to see someone joking with him and he giving back in equal measure? To see him surrounded by people that actually care for him? People who aren't using him for their own benefit? People who aren't jealous of him? To see him smile as bright as the sun that she craves (because he's happy and enhanced by his powers)? She's never going to be able to look away again.

something something about elain loving spring and something something about nesta being born in the spring
I’m so tired of the “Well Nesta needs tough love!!” rhetoric because we saw how much she healed when people weren’t constantly down her throat expecting her to be this perfect, healed woman.
Emerie and Gwyn came in and they didn’t have some preconceived notions about her. They didn’t treat her like she was some monster for “letting” her sister go out and hunt. They didn’t treat her like shit for having very valid responses to traumatic events. They saw a hurting girl and actually reached out their hands to her. They didn’t force her to confide to walls they built, they didn’t hold her sisters’ safety over her head in order to get her to do something dangerous. They didn’t harass her when she walked away from a situation. Didn’t force her to talk when she didn’t want to talk. Didn’t call her names and tell her how worthless she was for not living up to some standard.
I will forever be grateful for Gwyneth “Your story is worth telling” Berdara and Emerie “If you’re cold out there, you shouldn’t suffer. No matter what the High Lord may think” for making ACOSF so amazing.
They helped Nesta heal in ways no on else could.
