Simon never really celebrated Christmas, didn’t care for it that much. But when you spent your first Christmas together, best believe he made such an effort.

He went all out, decorating the tree with you, agreeing to bake and listen to those horrid Christmas songs. But he also bought nearly everything you asked for, because you deserve it. Shrugging nonchalantly when you squealed with excitement and hugged him tightly when you opened your gifts.

He didn’t know why he didn’t expect much, probably because he hadn’t wished for much. But of course you just knew what he needed without him realising it himself. Buying him a new pair of sweatpants, some new mugs, maybe a deep bowl or two.

But his favourite gift was definitely you. He just felt very grateful.
