Have you heard from your family recently?
Yep and they're all doing great. James, Remus, Peter, Lils, Marls, Em and the whole crew.
Any tattoos, birthmarks or scars?
I have Marlene's face tattooed on my left bum cheek. And a scar from where Wormtail pushed me out of a tree in the second year on my lower back.

She looks hotter on your bike than you do, that's for sure.
I'm sorry but you not finding me attractive is not going to stop me from being attractive.
"Ignorance, you? Never."
"You’re a hard man to pin down, Padfoot."
"Did you try Stacey Hawthorne’s bedroom or any broom closets?"
No, don’t worry, the map is perfectly fine. I wouldn’t be stupid enough to lose that.
"You sure about that, mate? You were stupid enough to almost lose Evans.
Papercuts || Marlene & Sirius
Marlene’s eyes followed the boy as he wandered over to her drawing. Without seeing her sketch, she knew exactly which one he was looking at. That was the first time she’d ever seen Sirius. Rose had (against her parent’s wishes) brought her along to a ball for high classed Purebloods and luckily her parents were only just starting out as Aurors, so they hadn’t been classified as ‘Blood Traitors’ yet. That would have had a very different outcome. When she stepped into that hallway in the Zabini’s mansion, her ears were flooded with beautiful music. At first, she thought it was coming from a record player a few doors down, but as she grew closer to the source she found it wasn’t a record player at all. There was a young boy seated at the grand piano, who couldn’t have been older than her. His hands moved with grace, his eyes drooped as he concentrated. Marlene hadn’t seen anyone more beautiful in her entire life. “There was something about you that day.. you were the most graceful and beautiful sight that I’d ever seen.” Marlene’s voice was quiet as she unknowingly mumbled out loud, only realizing what she’d said after she’d spoken it. She immediately avoided his gaze and ignored it as if nothing had happened. She was far too pissed off to reminisce about their childhood together.
The more he spoke, the more frustrated she got. She could sense the desperation in his voice for her to understand. A part of her knew she would have done the exact same thing if she was in his position, and he’d probably react in the exact same way. But this was Marlene McKinnon. She wasn’t weak and she hated it when people thought she needed protecting. She’d lost her parents, for Christ’s sake. She wasn’t exactly easy to take down. Marlene had never cared about her safety - she’d always put her friends and family first. She was the one that was supposed to protect them, not the other way around.
"If you want to protect me, you should have stood by me and not left me out in the dirt, Sirius!" Marlene stood to face him. She was slightly shorter than him, but her fiery temper made up for it. "But there’s something you understand, Sirius. I am not weak. Why does everyone think I need protecting?! I don’t need someone to swoop down and save me. I can fight my own battles, for Christ’s sakes!”
Sirius ran his tongue over his teeth hard to stop from just grabbing fistfuls of her hair and snogging the hell out of her. His heart wouldn’t stop hammering and he felt like he wasn’t getting any air. “Marlene!” He yelled, temptation of stamping his foot in frustration rising. “Why can you not see what everyone else can!? You’re not fucking invincible! We’re not talking about damn Slytherin students here! We’re talking about people that are fluent in the art of dark magic!”
He was so frustrated, she didn’t get it and neither did he anymore. She could fight her own battles. Marlene was one of the best witches Sirius had ever met. But he still felt the need to protect her the best he could. He felt the urge to shield her from all things bad. “I know you’re not weak,” Sirius exhaled deeply. How the hell was he supposed to explain himself.
"We aren’t talking about kid stuff anymore, Marlene. We’re talking about You-Know-Who followers." He finally gave in, looking her dead in the eye. "I don’t want anything to happen to you.”
THIS.
Boggart days. || Drabble prompt.
The first time Sirius ever encountered a boggart was when Regulus and he finally dared enter the sitting room one day when their parents were out. Of course it was Sirius' idea and Regulus was fearfully clamping onto his robe. "Sirius this is a bad idea!" He hissed, constantly looking over his shoulder as they entered the dark and dusty room. "Mother and father can come back at any moment!" "More reason to hurry up then." Sirius countered, his grey eyes swallowing every single detail up greedily. At six years old he had started to relish in doing everything his parents told him not to. "Siriuuuuus," Regulus whined; then squeaking in terror as something made a bang. It had come from something large covered in a grey, tattered and dusty sheet. Sirius moved towards it despite Regulus' protests, leaving the younger boy behind as he reached out his hand and dragged the sheet away. To his huge disappointment it was only a dark wooden closet and his lip curled in annoyance. "Maybe there's a body in it," he turned his head to grin nastily at Regulus, hands shooting out and yanking the closet open before Regulus could protest. Regulus' high pitched scream was filled with terror as a body indeed fell from the closet at Sirius' feet with a thump. Sirius could only stare in horror, eyes filled with terror and soon filling with tears as he stared down at Regulus' lifeless body and there he remained frozen even when Regulus sprinted from the room at the sound of their parents returning, sobbing about his body. Sirius even remained there when Walburga came running to see what had happened, her eyes filling with equal as much horror as she looked at Regulus' dead body before spinning Sirius around and slapping him hard across the face, screaming at him for his disobedience. Over the years Sirius would find that his boggart only added dead bodies each year as he made more close friends but up to the day Regulus would disappear from the face of the earth and also out of his boggart when declared dead, the image of his dead body would haunt Sirius the most.
Papercuts || Marlene & Sirius
Marlene ran a hand over her face as she entered the kitchen and leaned on the counter for a moment, trying to brace herself and gather her thoughts. The way he’d been so careful and kind to Elijah.. it was as if he’d never hurt her in the first place. The way he looked at her that day, when he insulted her.. He’d been a completely different person. The dark look in his eyes, the seriousness in his face. It was a side she’d never seen before. A side she didn’t want to see again. What if she was to let her guard down again, only to find herself staring into those grey eyes again as she had done that day? To find herself left standing there, unable to say anything.
When she felt his gaze on the back of her head, she turned around to look at him, her expression unreadable. As he spoke, anger rose up in her. He had to? He fucking had to hurt her? “You..” Marlene held her tongue for a moment, running a hand through her freshly untied hair. “You fucking had to hurt me? And I’m so bloody sorry that I’m acting so cold but you’d be acting the exact same if I did that to you.” She opened her mouth to speak again, but her eyes darted to the staircase. She didn’t want Elijah hearing any of this and she knew he’d catch the majority of it if she raised her voice. Her eyes darted back to Sirius’, and she motioned for him to follow her.
When Marlene had first moved in, Rosemary had insisted she take the small room upstairs as her bedroom. But knowing Marlene, she persisted and bugged Rosemary enough that she succumbed and gave her what she wanted, the basement. Marlene threw open the door to her sort of room, and descended the stairs into the darkness. She’d climbed and descended the stairs so much that she could do it in the darkness and she purposely didn’t switch the light on before she landed on the large rug that she’d placed as a makeshift carpet.
When you think of Marlene McKinnon’s room, you’d think she’d have band pictures sprawled over her walls, cigarettes all over her drawers and the messiest bloody bed you could imagine. There were a few hints of these - the cigarettes were spread over her beside table instead, but they were there. Her bed was huge and unmade, her covers folded back as if she’d just crawled out of it. She even had a bra chucked over the bed head, but the one thing you wouldn’t have thought of was the drawings everywhere. They covered her walls, detailed drawings of the castle, her friends, her family. She’d never really been open about her drawing, but she used it as an escape. She found it peaceful, a way to get her feelings out instead of bottling them up like she did around her friends. Bits of paper were thrown about the floor, pencils lying beside them.
Marlene completely ignored the drawing of Sirius on her wall as she wandered into her room. She collected up a few bits of lose paper, avoiding his gaze as she did so. She’d always felt like her drawings gave away parts of her and it was bloody uncomfortable when people saw them. After a moment or two, Marlene sighed and sat down on her bed, her body visibly tense. “You have five fucking minutes to explain yourself, Black. I’m exhausted and slightly irrational, so I’d take those five minutes before I start yelling at you for hurting me.”
Sirius clenched his teeth from retaliating something nasty back. He followed her to the door, pausing briefly before entering down the dark steps into her room. Almost breathless he gazed around it, it was exactly how he'd imagined it. Maybe a teeny bit more tidy that he'd expected but it screamed Marlene anyway. Sirius watched her sit down on the bed, folding his arms as he tried to collect his thoughts.
''You don't understand, Marlene.'' He started and then shook his head, his eye falling on a drawing of a very familiar person. Sirius couldn't help but wander towards it, a confused frown littering his face as he studied it. It was a more well built version of a young Regulus. But it wasn't Regulus as Regulus played the violin. Not the piano. It was Sirius himself, his six year old self sat at a grand piano, eyes half shut as he concentrated on playing it.
Sirius recognised the room. It was the grand room of the Zabini's mansion. They had the most beautiful piano Sirius had ever seen up to that day. It was a beautiful white, not like the black piano that he had back home. Home. Home was a dark concept back then. Sirius swallowed, tearing himself away from the drawing to face Marlene again.
''I'd forgotten about that day,'' he spoke, blinking a few times quickly. ''I didn't realise you'd seen me play.'' Sirius frowned in question but didn't pursue the matter. ''Look. When I was up in London for my uncle's funeral my parent's were there. I told you that. Someone had leaked about you, I'm expecting Bellatrix did as she had constantly hinted about my little bird to me during the session.'' Sirius ran his hands through his hair briefly, pursing his lips.
''I had to stop it or they would have come after you. Not in person, obviously. But Bella and Malfoy, even Cissa warned me about it. You need to understand that I had no other choice!'' Sirius'voice raised slightly in desperation.
Papercuts || Marlene & Sirius
Marlene had never, not once in her life, seen Sirius Black at a loss for words. She’d never seen him anything less than confident and it was a clear sign that he truly was sorry. Marlene’s brow creased slightly at the thought. It still didn’t make it right, but seeing him like that did make things slightly better. Her gaze dropped to the half crushed flowers he handed to her and she had to hold back a laugh. She, too, was at a loss for words. She hesitantly reached for the flowers, her cold fingers sliding against his, sending a shiver down her spine. Her eyes flicked back up to his and she gave him a half confused, half mildly thankful look. It took her a moment to respond, but she sounded awfully calm for what she was feeling inside. “I know, but he wants to see you more than I do right now, Sirius.” She didn’t sound rude as she was saying it, but she couldn’t lie to him, not now. Elijah was dying to see him and her.. well, it was debatable. She truly didn’t know.
She watched the boy walk in and survey her Aunt’s house. For a single woman, her house was pretty bloody big. She had to have the best, Rosemary did. Marlene didn’t see the point of having such a big house if there was no one to share it with other than her and Elijah every so often. When Sirius complimented her Aunt’s curtains, she gave him a look as if to say; ‘Really, Sirius? You’re talking about curtains?’. He obviously took that as a cue to head upstairs, which he did rather quickly. She wasn’t far off, purely because Elijah would start asking questions if Marlene didn’t come up with him.
Elijah’s whole face lit up as Sirius walked into his room and he sat up, ignoring a motherly look from Marlene, who had told him to take it easy. “Sirius!” He exclaimed, giving the boy a huge grin. When he walked over to Elijah and yanked the toilet seat out of his bag, both Elijah and Marlene’s eyes widened. One in awe, one in absolute shock. It didn’t surprise her that Sirius had taken the whole toilet seat thing literally and she rolled her eyes, knowing that they’d pay for it later. It was typical of him, something she hadn’t seen in a while.
"Awesome!" Elijah almost shouted, reaching for the seat. He held it out infront of him and his grin couldn’t have gotten any wider. "Thanks, Siri! I’ll frame it and hang it up in my room. Rose will be so mad, it’ll be so funny!" Marlene held back a sigh, knowing she’d get the blame for it. Elijah turned the seat to face her in the doorway. "Look, Mar! Come over here and join us, he came to see both of us!"
At that, Marlene hesitated. It wasn’t something Elijah could pick up, but her eyes flicked to Sirius’ and she knew he had. She turned her gaze back to her brother and laughed. “I’d love to bask in the glory of your new toilet seat, but I’ve got to make dinner. Rose will be home in a few hours and she’s expecting it to be ready.” Elijah turned up his nose at the mention of his Aunt, but he didn’t push it. He knew Rosemary would be even more pissed off at Marlene if dinner wasn’t out and ready. That’s the least she expected of her niece. “Alright, but as long as you make Spaghetti Bolognese. She hates it.” And with a wink, Marlene was making her way down the kitchen, leaving the two boys to bond.
''Maybe don't hang it up, bud,'' Sirius ruffled his hair, half an eye on Marlene. He'd seen Rose before at pureblood party's and she was just like the rest of 'em. ''Just keep it to yourself and Marlene for now.'' He smiled half heartedly, his heart sinking as Marlene already moved to the door.
He hadn't actually expected her to jump in his arms when he showed up but he'd expected more than this coldness. Maybe he did actualy fuck up. He was in so much trouble. This was not supposed to happen. This hadn't happened in his mind. In his mind he'd seen her to understand everything even though he hadn't let anything up. He was so stupid. What a nob he'd been. Sirius mentally kicked himself for it. Of course she wouldn't know what was going on if he didn't tell her. He couldn't actually expect her to read his mind.
''I'm just going to see if she needs any help, and then I'll be back,'' Sirius told Elijah. ''Stay in bed, I'll be right back.'' He followed Marlene down to the kitchen, frowning and folding his arms as he leaned against the kitchen door frame.
''I didn't expect you to be this cold, Marlene.'' Sirius spoke up, his lips pursed. ''I know I've been an absolute nob but you've got to understand I had to.''
''Me, ignorant?''
I know I had it around here somewhere…
''I swear if you've lost the map again, I'll get Moony to wipe your name off it and disown you.''
