breaking news: ur actually gonna make it through and everything will turn out just fine
Productivity culture will deceive you (especially if you are particularly high-functioning or a former Gifted Kid) into thinking that any use of your time that can’t be monetized or leveraged for your personal advancement is worthless, and I’m here to tell you that’s the devil talking. Do shit because you like it.
WHOA.
you change people. your name makes others smile. your work moves people. someone might compliment you somewhere, right now. someone’s heart will beat faster just thinking about you. your friends remember your experiences fondly. someone might see a book in the store and think of you, too. you inspire others to keep going, or you will someday. your presence matters and changes the world every day.
15 Thoughts That Will Lead You To Success
1. Every day is a gift
Life is very precious and can take the turn for the worse at any moment. Once you get this idea into your mind, you’ll stop procrastinating and put all your ideas into motion. If you live like today is your last day on the planet, then you will gain a renewed sense of appreciation for everything around you. With this appreciation in mind, you’ll start planning things in advance, work harder and act wisely. This is the ultimate motivation you can give yourself to reach the next level of success.
2. Work is not a chore
Work is not a chore that you have to do for money. It is something that you do because you love it and would like to make difference in this world. Some of the most successful people didn’t work because they’d have to, but because they wanted to.
Only work on things that interest you; this way, you will make sure that you will work harder and smarter.
3. Success takes time
Success is not handed to you on a platter. It takes time, effort and dedication to achieve success. Staying committed to your goals even in the face of many challenges is very important.
Recognize the importance of perseverance and always stay committed, even when the going gets tough.
4. Passion is everything
An idea isn’t the only essential factor to achieve success. If you don’t have passion towards what you’re doing, then you’re bound to give it up in the long-term. Passion fuels your desire to work during the hard times, and then it carries you over to an altogether different level of success.
Without passion towards what you’re doing, achieving success would be very hard.
5. Individuality is important
You don’t need to follow other successful people to be successful yourself. Individuality is a key factor to make sure that you are satisfied with your work and are happy in your life. Don’t be afraid to be different; some of the best ideas were initially frowned upon by many people.
It takes courage and determination to stand out from the crowd and try something new.
6. Ordinary life is boring
Ordinary people are comfortable with ordinary choices and goals. However, successful people yearn for something extraordinary, and won’t settle until they have achieved that. There is always a way to go beyond what you think is possible, and once you realize this, there will be nothing that can stop you in your endeavors.
7. Think outside the box
This is such a common positive thinking strategy that is almost a cliché now. However, thinking outside the box doesn’t just mean coming up with weird quirky ideas. The ideas should be innovative and practical. Brainstorm your ideas with others, discuss them loudly, assimilate knowledge, and engage with people outside your professional zone.
There is always a better way of doing something.
8. Set your own standards
You shouldn’t measure your accomplishments based on standards set by others. The moment you judge yourself based on others’ standards, you let them dictate your life, rather than you dictating yours. Strive to satisfy yourself instead on someone else, and you’ll be happy for the rest of your life.
9. If you like it, just do it
Sometimes, too much of time is wasted in thinking about things that you really like to do. If you genuinely like something, then just do it without any hesitation. Even if you are not sure whether you like something, it is easier to know whether you like it or not when you try it out.
10. There is always enough time
Every person on this planet has the same amount time as everyone else, and still many think that there is not enough of it. The problem lies not with the time, but how you perceive and manage it. Make a schedule and take out time for things you’d like to achieve.
Successful people don’t go around asking people for time, they make use of it.
11. No one’s holding you back
Even despite your best efforts, you cannot control other people in your life. You are the master of only yourself. Concentrate on how you can influence the outcome of your work, rather than how someone else isn’t doing what they are supposed to do.It’s not your fault when someone disappoints you or holds you back.
12. Opportunities are endless
Opportunities are never lost. There are endless opportunities waiting for you right now, and all you have to do is go and pick them up. Even if you miss one opportunity, there is always another waiting right behind it. Waiting for the right opportunity to come knocking on your door will get you nowhere.
13. Failure is not the end
While failure is definitely not a desired outcome, it is still a part of your success. Many successful people have failed a lot of times in their lives, and that is one of the main reasons why they’re successful today.
Embrace failures and learn from them. Only when you stay positive during failures can you rise up to success tomorrow.
14. Learn to let go
Letting go of an idea or a goal can be very painful at times, especially if you have invested a lot of effort and time into it. However, you have to learn to let go to be successful. No matter how great an idea is, or how desirable a goal or dream is, you have to give them up if they are not feasible. Being adaptable in your thoughts is essential to ensure success.
15. You can always make a difference
No matter what you do, you can always make a difference and leave a legacy behind. No idea or work is small enough to be unimportant. Everyone has the potential to leave a lasting mark on this world. Recognizing this thought is what enables many people to persist even in the face of adversities.

Story of how 6 years of med school paid off in 5 minutes.
I was at the gym at this sports center the other day, doing my workout session. At one point a guy is running into the gym asking if there is any doctor or nurse cos a guy collapsed. I run out with him. When I came over, there was a man laying on the floor. He was not looking good. No pulse, irregular breathing, pupils dilated. I started CPR. After few minutes ambulance came. I continued to work with them. It was VF, but luckly we got rythm after first electro shock. He was stabile and they took him to hospital. I went back to my training. Tomorrow I got a message from that man’s daughter. She wanted to thank me for saving her fathers life. They told her that if I hadn’t started CPR he wouldn’t be alive when ambulance arrived.
6 years of hard work, studying, sleepless nights, missing on social life, stress…it was all paid off in those 5 minutes of helping that man. When I heard he was alive cos of something I did all those years were suddenly worth all the struggle. That is why we do what we do…to make a difference. That’s why medicine is such beautiful job!!!
YOU GO GIRL!!!
fuck yeah!
Today, I was awarded my white coat and gained the title “Student Physician”. We’ve been in school for a week but now it feels real. This is the moment I’ve been working towards since I was 12 and told my mom I was gonna be a neurosurgeon but I don’t think I would have made it this far without the love, help, and support from the people who never stopped believing in me (and the inspiration to do better from the people who thought I couldn’t). Shout out to the people who came out here today to support me and to the ones who couldn’t make it but have still been with me through my ups and downs. I love you guys so much ❤️ Here’s to the past experiences leading up to all of this. Here’s to the promising future! #keck2020 #whitecoatceremony #medstudent Fun facts: ▪️This is the most diverse class in the history of my medical school ▪️This class also boasts the highest GPA and MCAT scores recorded 🙌🏿 😎 (at Keck Medicine of USC)

Famous authors, their writings and their rejection letters.
Sylvia Plath: There certainly isn’t enough genuine talent for us to take notice.
Rudyard Kipling: I’m sorry Mr. Kipling, but you just don’t know how to use the English language.
Emily Dickinson: [Your poems] are quite as remarkable for defects as for beauties and are generally devoid of true poetical qualities.
Ernest Hemingway (on The Torrents of Spring): It would be extremely rotten taste, to say nothing of being horribly cruel, should we want to publish it.
Dr. Seuss: Too different from other juveniles on the market to warrant its selling.
The Diary of Anne Frank: The girl doesn’t, it seems to me, have a special perception or feeling which would lift that book above the ‘curiosity’ level.
Richard Bach (on Jonathan Livingston Seagull): will never make it as a paperback. (Over 7.25 million copies sold)
H.G. Wells (on The War of the Worlds): An endless nightmare. I do not believe it would “take”…I think the verdict would be ‘Oh don’t read that horrid book’. And (on The Time Machine): It is not interesting enough for the general reader and not thorough enough for the scientific reader.
Edgar Allan Poe: Readers in this country have a decided and strong preference for works in which a single and connected story occupies the entire volume.
Herman Melville (on Moby Dick): We regret to say that our united opinion is entirely against the book as we do not think it would be at all suitable for the Juvenile Market in [England]. It is very long, rather old-fashioned…
Jack London: [Your book is] forbidding and depressing.
William Faulkner: If the book had a plot and structure, we might suggest shortening and revisions, but it is so diffuse that I don’t think this would be of any use. My chief objection is that you don’t have any story to tell. And two years later: Good God, I can’t publish this!
Stephen King (on Carrie): We are not interested in science fiction which deals with negative utopias. They do not sell.
Joseph Heller (on Catch–22): I haven’t really the foggiest idea about what the man is trying to say… Apparently the author intends it to be funny – possibly even satire – but it is really not funny on any intellectual level … From your long publishing experience you will know that it is less disastrous to turn down a work of genius than to turn down talented mediocrities.
George Orwell (on Animal Farm): It is impossible to sell animal stories in the USA.
Oscar Wilde (on Lady Windermere’s Fan): My dear sir, I have read your manuscript. Oh, my dear sir.
Vladimir Nabokov (on Lolita): … overwhelmingly nauseating, even to an enlightened Freudian … the whole thing is an unsure cross between hideous reality and improbable fantasy. It often becomes a wild neurotic daydream … I recommend that it be buried under a stone for a thousand years.
The Tale of Peter Rabbit was turned down so many times, Beatrix Potter initially self-published it.
Lust for Life by Irving Stone was rejected 16 times, but found a publisher and went on to sell about 25 million copies.
John Grisham’s first novel was rejected 25 times.
Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen (Chicken Soup for the Soul) received 134 rejections.
Robert Pirsig (Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance) received 121 rejections.
Gertrude Stein spent 22 years submitting before getting a single poem accepted.
Judy Blume, beloved by children everywhere, received rejections for two straight years.
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle received 26 rejections.
Frank Herbert’s Dune was rejected 20 times.
Carrie by Stephen King received 30 rejections.
The Diary of Anne Frank received 16 rejections.
Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone by J.K. Rolling was rejected 12 times.
Dr. Seuss received 27 rejection letters
Now this…THIS inspires me.
Don’t give up people.
My professor talked about how women aren’t used to asking for things in the work place, such as raises, because we’re conditioned to downplay our achievements and hold off on asserting our value. She discussed how, even now at this stage in her career (a published doctrate), she shakes when she askes to be considered for a raise and about the first time she was really successful at getting one. After class I asked her what she asked her boss and she winked at me, took me to her office, and asked me to take notes.
She said she practiced this technique like 5 times in her office before she requested a meeting with her boss. I’m gonna share it with you guys because I really loved it.
You start off by thanking your employer for their support (whatever that means in the context of your work environment). You then say that you would like to take some time to discuss next year’s salary. You say, allow me to refresh your memory regarding some of my accomplishments or contributions from the past year, and you present a written summary of all that you’ve done. You close by saying, I hope that next year’s salary reflects this list of contributions and you thank them for their time and see yourself out.
I just loved how she made it seem so much less daunting of a task. She said not to underestimate your achievements as women have a tendency underreporting what they’ve done.
The fact that she shared this with me really meant a lot as well as women really need to be there to empower each other and help guide each other towards success. So if you end up using this, let me know! I want to see how it works for you ^_^.

Words to replace said, except this actually helps
I got pretty fed up with looking for words to replace said because they weren’t sorted in a way I could easily use/find them for the right time. So I did some myself.

To Anyone who Thinks They're Falling Behind in Life (and aren’t good/creative/ect. enough)
“You don’t need more motivation. You don’t need to be inspired to action. You don’t need to read any more lists and posts about how you’re not doing enough. But, honestly, here’s the thing that nobody really talks about when it comes to success and motivation and willpower and goals and productivity and all those little buzzwords that have come into popularity: you are as you are until you’re not. You change when you want to change. You put your ideas into action in the timing that is best. That’s just how it happens. And what I think we all need more than anything is this: permission to be wherever the fuck we are when we’re there. You’re not a robot. You can’t just conjure up motivation when you don’t have it. Sometimes you’re going through something. Sometimes life has happened. Life! Remember life? Yeah, it teaches you things and sometimes makes you go the long way around for your biggest lessons.
You don’t get to control everything. You can wake up at 5 a.m. every day until you’re tired and broken, but if the words or the painting or the ideas don’t want to come to fruition, they won’t. You can show up every day to your best intentions, but if it’s not the time, it’s just not the fucking time. You need to give yourself permission to be a human being.
Sometimes the novel is not ready to be written because you haven’t met the inspiration for your main character yet. Sometimes you need two more years of life experience before you can make your masterpiece into something that will feel real and true and raw to other people. Sometimes you’re not falling in love because whatever you need to know about yourself is only knowable through solitude. Sometimes you haven’t met your next collaborator. Sometimes your sadness encircles you because, one day, it will be the opus upon which you build your life. We all know this: Our experience cannot always be manipulated. Yet, we don’t act as though we know this truth. We try so hard to manipulate and control our lives, to make creativity into a game to win, to shortcut success because others say they have, to process emotions and uncertainty as if these are linear journeys. You don’t get to game the system of your life. You just don’t. You don’t get to control every outcome and aspect as a way to never give in to the uncertainty and unpredictability of something that’s beyond what you understand. It’s the basis of presence: to show up as you are in this moment and let that be enough. Yet, we don’t act in a way that supports this lifestyle. We fill every minute with productivity tools and read 30-point lists on how to better drive out natural, human impulse. We often forget that we are as we are until we’re not. We are the same until we’re changed. We can move that a bit further by putting into place healthy habits and to show up to our lives in a way that fosters growth, but we can’t game timing. Timing is the one thing that we often forget to surrender to. Things are dark until they’re not. Most of our unhappiness stems from the belief that our lives should be different than they are. We believe we have control — and our self-loathing and self-hatred comes from this idea that we should be able to change our circumstances, that we should be richer or hotter or better or happier. While self-responsibility is empowering, it can often lead to this resentment and bitterness that none of us need to be holding within us. We have to put in our best efforts and then give ourselves permission to let whatever happens to happen—and to not feel so directly and vulnerably tied to outcomes. Opportunities often don’t show up in the way we think they will. You don’t need more motivation or inspiration to create the life you want. You need less shame around the idea that you’re not doing your best. You need to stop listening to people who are in vastly different life circumstances and life stages than you tell you that you’re just not doing or being enough. You need to let timing do what it needs to do. You need to see lessons where you see barriers. You need to understand that what’s right now becomes inspiration later. You need to see that wherever you are now is what becomes your identity later. Sometimes we’re not yet the people we need to be in order to contain the desires we have. Sometimes we have to let ourselves evolve into the place where we can allow what we want to transpire. Let’s just say that whatever you want, you want it enough. So much so that you’re making yourself miserable in order to achieve it. What about chilling out? Maybe your motivation isn’t the problem, but that you keep pushing a boulder up a mountain that only grows in size the more you push. There’s a magic beyond us that works in ways we can’t understand. We can’t game it. We can’t 10-point list it. We can’t control it. We have to just let it be, to take a fucking step back for a moment, stop beating ourselves up into oblivion, and to let the cogs turn as they will. One day, this moment will make sense. Trust that. Give yourself permission to trust that.” - Jamie Warron
