Editing/Proofreading Commissions
Hey! So, I like money, and more importantly, I like being able to work for it. As such, Iād like to open myself up as a freelance editor and proofreader for basically anything youād like me to look at. I can do original fiction, non-fiction, fanfiction, academic writing like essays, poetry, blog posts, all the fun things. If I havenāt listed it here, ask, and Iāll probably say I can take a solid crack at it.
As far as qualifications, Iāve got an MA in Rhetoric and several yearsā experience writing and reading academic work, as well as some professional experience as a proofreader on a contract basis.
Right now, Iām offering two different services: proofreading and copy editing.
Proofreading: Running through the text to make sure there are no glaring issues with spelling, grammar, or formatting. This is kind of like a spell-checker with a brain, a second set of eyes to let you know if things are in order. Iām looking at $2 per page for this, or a $5 flat rate per poem if itās poetry.
Copy Editing: A more in-depth service, looking not just at spelling and grammar, but also at things like consistencyādid you write 2nd in one place and second in another? Are you using color and colour interchangeably?āpacing, and flow. This will likely take more time to do well, and as such Iām looking for $4 per page, or a $10 flat rate per poem.
