When it was time for the tide of seasons to change, you were a bit worried. This world and it’s mysteries were still new, and you had assumed that even the weather would contain some demonic danger. However, you found yourself pleased as you watched snowflakes drift down from the sky to coat the ground in a pleasing crisp white. As silly as it was, you’d thought maybe the frost would be black or some other dismal color. It was comforting, the familiarity of it all, and it eased some of your home-sickness. Although, you had discovered that the chill was much more intense than anything you had felt before. Anything within human standards, anyway. You’d tried sticking your hand out to catch a twirling snowflake the first time they’d begun to fall. As soon as it touched the bare skin of your palm, you shuddered, your whole arm nearly going numb. The demons you resided with quickly rushed to accommodate your fragile human body as soon as they realized you wouldn’t be able to handle the otherworldly winter. Thicker layers, little heaters, even magical charms and potions to shield you from frigid breezes.

I love Asmo, but his potential as a character has kinda been watered down over the years.

I feel like in a perfect world, Asmo would have been like Desire from The Sandman.

When I first watched The Sandman, Desire instantly became a favorite of mine and reminded me how much potential Asmo has as the avatar of lust, similarly to how Desire is the concept given form.

I don’t get why the RWBY fandom is so hostile toward the “Qrow is Ruby’s dad” theory. I don’t care what Miles said, I love it, I think it’s fun, I think it adds to Qrow’s angst, I think Ruby doesn’t look anything like Tai and keeps getting father/daughter arcs with Qrow while Yang is the one who gets them with Tai. They keep doing all of these things to accidentally enforce the theory while insisting it isn’t canon, which like it isn’t, I know that, but I’m always gonna love it.

It also doesn’t make Tai any less Ruby’s dad. Like yeah Qrow could be her father biologically, but Tai raised her, Tai loves her, she calls Tai dad. He is still her dad too, nothing about that changes.

Really, I like this theory less for what it means for Ruby and more for what it implies about Qrow’s character. He thinks of himself as a bad luck charm, it makes sense that especially when it comes to his daughter he’d want to do anything to keep her safe, even if it meant removing himself from her life altogether. She has Tai, she has Summer, she even has a sister, she’ll be fine.

I think canonically it wasn’t until after Summer died that Qrow became a more active presence, and even then Qrow’s visits were sparse. But Tai was a mess and someone needed to make sure the girls were safe, so Qrow intervened as best he could while still keeping that he was Ruby’s biological dad a secret, because at this point, who was that going to help?

I think if Ruby found out she would be confused. Probably feel betrayed. It would strain her relationships with both Qrow and Tai to some extent. I don’t see it changing anything about her relationship with Yang, however. I could see her asking “Did you know?” and once Yang said she didn’t, she is just as confused as Ruby, that would be that. They would still regard each other as sisters, no change at all, maybe even be brought a little bit closer.

But yeah that’s the appeal to me. I think of this as less of a “theory” and more of an “AU” since Miles confirmed it will never be canon. So it’s an AU I really really like and pretend is canon, basically. I think it could’ve been cool! Familial angst is great! And it makes sense and fits with the storyline, but alas, never to be
